227 Skilled-Trades Workers File Appeal Against Chrysler/UAW Agreement

The United Auto Workers announced the ratification of a new four-year labor deal with Chrysler on October 26th, but an appeal from a group of skilled-trades workers could put a stop to it.

A total 227 skilled-trades workers signed an appeal that was filed with the UAW’s International Executive Board on Friday.

The UAW's constitution allows skilled-trades workers to reject a contract if they vote against it for reasons that pertain to skilled-trades issues. However, the UAW International Executive Board ruled on October 26th the skilled-trades workers voted against the contract because they disagreed with the economic terms of the agreement.

The appeal “asks for documentation on how President King and the IEB arrived at their decision on the same day the vote totals were announced.”
