At GM, the first rear coves were on Pontiac & Olds. Pontiac never contrast-painted it, and Olds used a brightwork panel to fill theirs: Now, Cadlllac technically had a rear cove too for '59. It's close to the Olds in concept... but it feels quite different... like it's more part of the 'bumper assembly' than 'in the sheet metal'. I love the extravagance of rear grillework : Why should the 'jewelry' of a car be restricted to only the nose?
  2. Doubtful anytime soon. How's the 2.7T in the Silverado selling, BTW?

The '67 GP cove panel is very similar to the '67 GTO...I've seen some '67 GTOs with that panel painted black, but I don't think that was factory. Love the tail treatments on the '62s... I love the tail of the '68 Catalina with the taillights dipping into the bumper.
  4. Interesting..no A/C, but it does have the dash vents.. I remember a lot of older cars didn't have dash vents without A/C...

Pontiac, unquestionably the style leader throughout the 1960s, had a number of coved rear end treaments; '59, then '61-67, but they never contrast-painted them, despite (IMO) some of them really calling out for it. '67 Grand Prix : Below is '62 [from top to bottom: Catalina, Bonneville, GP] : In the case of the '62s, Pontiac certainly didn't ignore rear details- the Bonne & GP getting unique die-cast trim panels... and the GP did have black paint between the chromed bars. The '62 GP is probably the closest Pontiac came to a contrasted cove panel. Just picture, if you will, that the '62 decklid came to a edge and fell straight down to the rear bumper. Not as engaging or detailed.

Yes: the current ‘stang & Challenger do continue the feature. The Camaro I feel does not because I don’t see any other way that panel could be done. Mustang has an indented, ‘framed’ panel, the Camaro really doesn’t.
  7. Uncle Dave has always been a steady voice in the storm. We love Uncle Dave!
  8. Are you really so insecure that you had to dig through the internet and all you find is this? You should have went one link further there. Here is her “IMDB” which are all interviews and docuseries from 2019. Poor little Blu, threatened by a little sixteen year old girl. Somehow, it doesn’t really surprise me. “oooh, her parents were actors”. So F’ing what. Our president is a reality tv with five bankruptcies and three marriages full of adultery but it’s the little girl that gets your panties in a bunch. It’s laughably sad. Read the actual link to her “shows” and you will see why Blu is just trying to troll extra hard here.

Chrysler (the brand) only did it one year/model; the '68 300 : I see a bunch of pics with the panel either black or silver, and I've seen both on a red car, so not sure the protocol here. Dodge used it well; Charger '68-72, Coronet '68-70, Challenger '70-74 :
  10. Dave, you have always struck me as a person who does not create and does not enjoy drama. Believe me. I get it. Anyway, I was surfing for a specific photo I once saw and came across this. This is what the climate control panel looks like on a mid-70s Olds Cutlass if you DON'T have A/C. And, if that's the situation, under the hood, it becomes a Saturday mechanic's dream.
  11. Nice weather—-sunny and 46 and the snow melted....drove a couple hundred miles around NE/north central Ohio...shopping for wine, cheese and sausage. From Grandpa’s Cheesehouse in Ashland to the Amish country/Swiss Ohio area around Berlin and Sugarcreek. Went and visited my parents’ graves in Port Washington. ( the 19th made 20 years since my Dad passed). Beautiful day to be driving winding, hilly Ohio backroads, and the Jeep drove great....great day to be Alive and Kicking as the song goes ( had a New Wave soundtrack for today).
  12. Thank you, another youthful look at me, me and only me. Ignore the man behind the curtain.
  13. First off, this is about Greta. Secondly, I did not dig anywhere, I knew about it long ago. Thirdly, everyone knows she speaks from a script. Fourthly, tying Greta to the thread was only a little bit off topic, because EU governments are shooting themselves with the same gun she carries, when she has talking points given to her. Fifthly, I was replying to dfelt's question about her parents, not anything to do with you, is everything about you? And sixthly, why are you obsessed with me as of late? Hasn't anyone else said anything that warrants having you emerge fromunda that bridge?
