I've never been in an Uber/Lyft. I've taken a taxi twice (that I can recall). I've been in a 'town car' twice. Have no interest in expanding that list. Have no interest in autonomous 'pool' cars / not owning the vehicle myself. If it comes to the point I cannot meet my needs in the new motor vehicle world, I'll go back to vintage; get a clean '60s car rebuilt/restomodded to my specs. Should be on par with the ever-rising ATPs people spend on new stuff. Then I can bask in the 'invisibility cloak' that car offers me; no vehicle-to-vehicle communications, no black boxes, no OEM tracking. THAT'S when I start my crime spree. ?3 points

I have no interest in self-driving cars, or cars that talk to each other. Working in software for 25 years, I know just how buggy and easily hacked most software is...don't trust it to drive a 9000lb vehicle down the road...2 points

Because blue 'E's are JUST as unappealing as an 'xxxiq' name.2 points

Can you image a culture/time period where someone names a model 'Fleetwood' and that name runs from 1935 thru 1996?? Or Deville... and it runs from 1949 thru 2005?? - - - - - Seems logical that a 'Cadillac Owners Society' would find new, non-traditional names unappealing... but Cadillac is looking outside it's own steady demographic here. Not that I like the future naming convention either...2 points

This is a very loose definition, and I wonder why GM chose to represent it this way. There will unquestionably & ultimately be many platforms in production.2 points

That what you said or... A restomodded Fleetwood Brougham D'Ellegance with all the goodies from a CT6 V Blackwing. Especially the Blackwing V8 and the magnetic shocks.1 point

Kinda how I am planning the conversion of my 1994 GMC Suburban to Electric with no vehicle-to-vehicle communication or a government black box to track me!1 point

Musk and Tesla is also working on a robot... https://insideevs.com/news/563498/tesla-robot-mostimportant-product-development/ But he gets pissed at Biden for excluding Telsa when talking about American EV production. Why is he pissed? He is LITERALLY saying that cars may not be that important for humans in the future with these two new endeavors... Biden may NOT be wrong in excluding Tesla for American EV manufacturing...1 point

? Ford charges you $19,500 for a mere 70 mile increase in range on the Lightning. Welcome to the new OEM "gouging".1 point

Interesting reading, I do not agree with everything they have stated, but interesting reading none the less. 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 review: The right tool for the job - Roadshow (cnet.com) OUCH, $20,000 premium for Plug-in Hybrid is stupid. Agree and why not like the SilvErado just do that to one of the E's in EscaladE or EscaladE ESV. I see no reason to have IQ on the name.1 point

Seems like electric/redesigned models are a prime opportunity to re-intro heritage names. I'm OK with Celestiq & Lyriq... generally, but all the rest and the 'mandate' to name everything in the same vein I often hate. I would rather Celestiq be 'Fleetwood' tho.1 point

^ It's painfully obvious - GM isn't putting the same amount (or dimensions) of steel/aluminum under a Silverado as they are in a Trax. It's no different that pointing to am Impala frame in 1970 and saying 'that'll support compact to full-size'.1 point

Here I posted about the IQ names for Cadillacs future BEVs and only now is other web sites months later starting to talk about it and ask if you like it or not. Too Funny! Poll: Are You A Fan Of Cadillac's New IQ Naming Strategy? (cadillacsociety.com) The survey does show as of my posting that only 38% LOVE the IQ names, and 62% HATE it.1 point

GM probably has internal designations for different sizes of Ultium-technology platforms under development...like in the olden days where they had A-body, B-body and C-body, etc for families of products of different size and spec. So instead of a variety of 6 cyl and V8 engines, manual and automatic transmissions, gas tanks, etc used with a set of shared BOF and unibody platforms, now they will have a set of electric motors and battery packs with a set of shared platforms. Different types of dirty bits, some of the same principles though.1 point

I do find it very cool to sell Performance Upgrade Parts with a 24-month warranty even if it is used in actual racing. ? Though I bet their lawyers have written in some very hard language to make it hard to actually have to honor the warranty. Who knows, we will see how this goes.1 point

I don’t think automakers have been in such a precarious scenario since the depths of the Great Depression as far as the unknown near future is concerned. And some of what’s driving the OEM-level frenzy seems to be a strong urge to ‘get in on the new ground floor’… (Rivian for ex) but what if Tesla is the anomaly and not the future norm?1 point

And both were from car accidents. Big and KEY difference there. The same could not be said for the Pinto and GM's ignition issues (again, 124 deaths). I don't even know how you can even compare it at this point.1 point
