  1. Right turn on red is legal on most streets and roads I frequent in NE Ohio, and I’m guilty of making California rolls (slow down and turn on red without stopping).

  2. Think how close together gas stations are now...charging stations should be just as close together or on the same sites. Do any gas station chains have charging stations? Or not because big oil is so antagonistic towards EVs?

  3. FWD is simpler for the rental spec and lower trims, probably. And since they have an AWD version, doing a version that is RWD only probably is straight forward and not a large cost. I have no idea what the dirty bits are like on a FWD or AWD EV--but I assume AWD in this context is simpler than in an FWD/AWD or RWD/AWD ICE vehicle since you don't have a transverse engine/transmission or longitudinal engine/transmission to deal with..

  4. That said, I could see putting Albert in an RS AWD

  5. I would imagine the software changes are minimal. Now, I have zero insight on what GM is actually doing, but I can tell you that dual-motor Teslas run primarily in FWD mode when driving normally and not in any of the various sport modes they offer. In Tesla's case, it is because the front motor is smaller and more efficient. The ECU will change the distribution of power dynamically to find the most efficient blend, and sometimes at cruising speed that means a trickle of juice to each motor. The FWD 1LT is the cost leader, designed to keep the entry price down (Range 247). It is similarly designed to the 2LT which gets you a second motor and AWD, BUT there is more than one battery pack size available here, so I'm guessing the 293 range is an "up to" depending on if you get the bigger battery. The RS is the sportesque model with FWD being the base, and RWD or AWD being optional. My guess is that the RWD version will also be paired with a larger battery pack and offer more power than the FWD. The AWD will naturally be the most powerful version, but also possibly the version with the longest range just as the AWD LR Teslas are. The SS will naturally be the most powerful and likely gives up some of its range to have a larger front motor. The charts don't say which versions get which size batteries, so it is a bit of a guess on my part.

  6. There is no R&D for it if the AWD part is already done. It's more of a delete than an addition. Maybe they'll use FWD for those who want more cargo space in the back? *shrug*

  7. Gives them a marketing advantage over all the other FWD appliances out there.

  8. Looks good..very normal without the forced weird some EVs have...and I like that it appears to have normal door handles, rather than the non-standard door handles many EVs have. A door handle is a door handle, doesn't need pointless complexity like on the Teslas or Mach-e..

  9. Man, that's what I call passionate! There are definitely some odious types out there that we have to contend with - in any establishment or institution we are at or have to deal with. Yes, English speaking Americans come up, but the West Island is heavily Anglophone. I went into a Starbucks in DDO during a 5 hour layover at (then) Dorval and the guy helping me spoke English with no accent - not even the "Canadian lilt." as I call it. The problem is that some people do not have a visual image of what constitutes the island of Montreal filed away in their heads. By the time you are west of DDO and Point-Claire, it gets way less dense. The same is true eastward beyond Anjou. A person may think they are a world away from Montreal and can make a right turn on red, but they CAN'T. Yet in denser and barely off-island Longueil and Laval, you CAN make a right on red. But, yes, (the island of) Montreal does the signage right. We would call them a "Hollywood stop!" One of the handful of chicken-sh!+ tickets given to me across my driving career was for one of these on a completely dark residential street in Encino at 10:30 p.m. It was an obvious hangout for the police.

  10. Last week's Karen: In her 50s. Orders a trio. 'Upgrades' to a sweet potato french fry. yells so loud so other customers in the place hear her how the restaurant is ripping her off on the account the upgrade is too expensive. doesnt want to pay up for the 'upgrade' over the regular fries. yells at my cashier, as young as she is, 16, that it was her job to advise her there is an upcharge for the upgrade. I had told her between the yelling episodes that the prices are clearly marked on the menu at the front and top of the counter and clearly visible and readable in large bold letters in 2 phoquing languages as soon as you walk in the restaurant. tells me that its not her job to look at the menu. As soon as that gets blurted out I swear at her to get the phoque out of my restaurant. refuses to leave because she says I have no right to kick her out. I had left the kitchen at this point talking to her showing her the menu how clear and legible it is... I had my phone with me at this point, I was dialing 9-1-1 because I knew I was going to do something illegal on my part. I knew I could snatch her purse, and so I did, walked out the door and threw it. More like lobbed it on the side. She yelled that she was going to call the police, asked other customers to call the police, but I showed her my phone screen that 9-1-1 was already dialed. Told her "beat ya to it" and proceeded to tell the 9-1-1 operator my story, including the part that I grabbed her purse and that I tossed it outside because as THE owner I no longer wanted her as a client on the account that she was disruptive and rude and refused to pay and that I had told her to leave, but didnt after multiple times being told to leave. That was a lie, I only told her once to leave... She quickly left the store, hysterical, picking her purse up, and quickly getting into her car to the cheers of the other patrons. I quickly apologized to my other patrons and continued my day. I still had adrenaline of hate, anger and bewilderment until I posted that rant. I now laugh at the sheer stupidity of it all. Including me snatching the purse from her hands...
