Call me old fashioned, but as much as I like two-tone exteriors, I don't like all those colors and stripes. Looks like a basketball shoe.4 points

Loving the G90 Wingback profile. OK, sent ya the PDF files, so you do not have to figure out installing the 7zip software to open the file. This is awesome4 points

One of my sister’s friends has gone overboard with white. Both her Michigan lake house and Florida house are all white inside, walls, kitchen, white carpet, white furniture, white trim, white dog…a bit much IMO.4 points

Over the last six years or so, I have slowly grown my Vinyl collection. This project was an effort to preserve my vinyl playing ways after the original 50 year amp gave out and I could not find a replacement anywhere on earth lol. Here's some other pics of the progress over the last week or so... After gutting it, I installed some wood slats. For the record, nothing was cut away from the cabinet itself. I steed away all the original components in case I ever come across another OEM amp for it. The only change to the cabinet itself was the paint and stain job. After that, I set did a little "switcharoo" with some old school Sony floor speakers that were put into storage due to a pair of blown passive woofers (top speakers in them were active woofers with the bottom being the passive woofers). I combined the working woofers into a single cabinet and cut out two holes on one end to install the mid and tweeter from "gutted" floor speaker cabinet. Then that was installed through the back of the console and it barely fit lol. Here's the rest of the work.4 points

I am saddened. Loved him as an actor. There was also a crime thriller movie with Wesley Snipes and Sean Connery that he did. Rising Sun.3 points

While him being good looking is a factor, this feels like a French Revolution type thing. Health Insurance companies are largely evil and people know it. They literally continued the meeting after the CEO got shot, that's how heartless they are.3 points

Yeah, I like natural woods where possible..not too dark and gloomy. Brick or stonework around fireplaces (not painted!)... the whole paint everything shades of gray or black aesthetic is so not me. I also don't like everything bright white..the hospital aesthetic isn't for me either. Or austere unfinished concrete walls..I've seen that in some modern design houses, hideous IMO.3 points

Here's how I roll on this: Parchment colored (warm color palette) wall paint, white raised panel doors and white baseboard, white ceiling, wood flooring or tan colored deep pile carpeting depending on the room, and mill work in kitchens, bathrooms, and niches, if you have any, in a medium shade like maple or thereabouts. I like a warm color palette and wood stains throughout a dwelling to make it feel homey. Eternal and safe - may not be the trendiest, but won't jump out as out of style, either.3 points

Random thought: I cannot stand kitchen or bathroom millwork painted in battleship gray or "distressed" nautical blue3 points

GM's Ultium formerly known as, is actually a 400V system. The Chevy EV pick-up truck, the Hummer EV and the Escalade are dual 400V set-ups working in tandem to emulate a 800V set-up. I guess the way the battery packs are set-up in that truck platform. The batteries stacked up one on top of the other. Amongst other things, I suppose. The other Ultium platformed EVs with the single battery pack is just a 400V set-up. But I also read somewhere that GM has an 800V successor platform ready to go on sale in China right now. But is stalling due to reasons. Stalling here and there... Rumours and/or disinformation it could be though.3 points

Ford's aluminum supplier burnt down. They don't have enough aluminum to build the gas F-150 at current demand. They make more profit on the gas model than the EV model. Additionally, it is getting left behind in tech by GM and Tesla (though both with their own baggage). It charges slower and has a lower range than either of those. It is a FANTASTIC EV, but buyers need to be able to live with those limitations, and that's a hard sell when the Chevy dealer next door has a truck with the same size bed that goes twice as far and charges twice as fast. For someone like my mom who doesn't do road trips and could plug in every night, the F-150 EV would be the perfect replacement for her old old King Ranch.3 points

I also saw another interview with him, he still goes to the gym 3 days a week and attributes staying mentally young to his 54yr old wife and that he sings every day still. He said he still has so much to do and learning and being active is important as he wants to live another 100 years. He says death starts when you stop moving as he can tell if he misses going every other day to the gym, he stiffens up and has a harder time moving around.2 points

Good grief. Being that the CTS wagon was last made in 2014, this Genesis had better trump it lol. "Style" is a relative term anyway. That aside, I want it. I still want the CTS-V Wagon as well.2 points

Perhaps Central Cadillac is part of a bigger automotive ownership group that owns multiple brands, including an Infiniti dealership, and on cost cutting measures, just uses one generic 'thank-you' card with just one picture on it, that Infiniti coupe, and distributes this one generic 'thank-you' card to all of its customers regardless what vehicle they happen to drive?2 points

Some days I miss being a young man, that was very much part of it. And will continue to do so. That and E bikes, E lawn mowers, E snow blowers. In Ohio, I work in facilities for a university. We got rid of our gas powered snow blowers and got electric ones. Much quieter, never fail to start on a cold morning, no explosive gas sitting around, don't need to keep a bunch of gas on hand for them, lighter, cleaner (no grease or oil, etc.) Amazon around here is all E delivery vehicles. The paradigm shift is happening, and we see this overseas on other markets, where electric cars are rapidly replacing EV's. This is why I see the demise of domestics (among other issues). When the inevitable happens and the US and Canada do open the door to Chinese EV's, they will be so far ahead of what US automakers are making that it will be like watching the typewriter business or the buggy business go away as the new technology rushes in like a flood.2 points

@A Horse With No Name @oldshurst442 You guys are correct, cycle of take off and landing more than age. I should have expanded myself as my brother inlaw is a manager at Boeing with many patents for his specialty which is the airplane engines on the 737, 757, 777, 787 and the king 747. He has stated that the force of the engines cause fatigue in ALL aircrafts that hit 10 years and depending on the flying they have done, passenger versus freight, while a plane can go 20 or 30 years, many should have a very close inspection at 10 years for corrosion, metal fatigue, etc. Could be one reason some airline companies retire their aircraft after 10 years rather than continue to fly them. Many things make up the age of an aircraft and years is only 1 little part of it, Force makes up a much bigger part. Thank you for pointing out what I failed to expand on in my original post.2 points

I try to boycott all of the above every chance I get, including trying to avoid flying on Boeing planes. Interesting spring trip. I plan on being home for a few months though, spent a pleasant Thanksgiving seeing family, and hiking and biking in Kentucky and North Carolina. Pics from Kentucky, Dawkins rail trail.2 points

Yeah, can’t really argue against the technology. I think Porsche is stuck in a hard place with their styling. There’s not a lot they can do style wise without alienating their traditional buyers. If they do like what Jaguar did with the last XJ when they dropped the traditional styling, they’d piss everyone off.2 points

So much going on, Idiot47 calling for the execution of people that disagree with how he is doing things, this is all so pathetic. As we enter our Thanksgiving week, I am very humble for the friends that I have here at C&G and yes that even includes the ones I disagree with on various topics and debate with be you in the U.S. or out of the U.S. I wish you all a relaxing, enjoyable time with family and friends for your Thanksgiving Day. I have one wish and that is for the following as we go into the end of the year and Xmas season. I hope that we can get past sooner rather than later Dumb Dirty Donald and Flamboyant Hollywood Gavin and get a "We the People" President that understands that regardless of your conservative or liberal leanings, we are one country of multi-cultural people and like everyone other than the 1% crowd, we have to live within a balanced budget. Bring the house and senate together to work as they are supposed to represent the people and not the 1%. Balance tariffs for those things that truly are being made under the cost of the current industry still producing manufactured goods in the U.S. and drop all the rest for things that are no longer made or available here. Support the medical insurance for all, stop borrowing against Social Security. Focus on supporting job growth in new industries and not destroying billion-dollar investments trying to live in the past. May you all have a wonderful holiday week or relaxing week if out of the U.S.2 points

Going back to the Ultium platform. I said that the batteries on the trucks are stacked up on each other and amongst other things that make it an 800V system. While true that the batteries on the Escalade, Hummers and Chevy EV pick up truck ARE stacked on top of each other, that does NOT make the system an 800V system. The fact that the two battery packs are connected IN SERIES makes them an 800V system. And that was what I was inferring to when I said "amongst other things". I read somewheres that GM knew to make the Ultium platform an 800V system at launch but figured the EV charging system was not capable of charging at those 800V fast charging speeds then so a 400V system was good enough. Again, I do not know if this is misinformation. GM went to dual 400V systems on two battery packs connected in series to emulate an 800V system on the trucks in that GM knew that range and charging speeds and all that where GM has an advantage to other truckish EVs were going to be a factor. The EV range on these truck EVs are amongst the best EV ranges in the world. Never you mind that there are two huge battery packs with a shyte ton of KW/H to them making at least one of the three trucks, the Hummer EVs, a very piss poor efficient EV. (The Hummer SUV and the Hummer pick-up are blended into one product in my rants) Some folk talk about how bad the efficiency is. But most applaud the range of these EV trucks. Also, these two huge battery packs make for extremely heavy EVs. I would assume the most heavy of ANY civilian EVs on sale to date.2 points

I would have to imagine gen2 would be on its own bespoke platform, like the GM counterparts. I'd also REALLY hope they're smart enough to give it the best technology available with at least an 800v system. In all fairness, I don't believe there was an 800v EV out when the Lightning first debuted back in 2021. Before even submitting the comment I had to look up the first 800v EV and it was the Taycan in 2018. I know for sure it wasn't common back then.2 points

For your purposes, this would be more than enough. BUT it won't play most games because it's an ARM processor instead of an x86. That said, for all of your regular "office" type work, it will be snappier than anything else at this price point. And it has the 10-key. Don't get me wrong, it's a cheap laptop, but it will be a great performing cheap laptop. https://www.costco.com/p/-/lenovo-ideapad-slim-3x-153-touchscreen-copilot-pc-laptop-qualcomm-snapdragon-x-wuxga-1920x1200-windows-11-home-16gb-ram-1tb-ssd/4000379412?langId=-12 points
