  2. I think you need to look deeper at this. He made his money, millions of it, by talking, so he has a natural desire to keep the conversation going. He was also incredibly disingenuous about it. It's all well and good to say we shouldn't build walls, but he was responsible for building or reinforcing most of them. This tweet is just rage bait designed to get the right wing angry at the gays, many of whom serve in the military. May is Military Appreciation month. So not only is he spreading bigotry, he's also spreading misinformation.... and he did that All. The. Time. When he got shot, he was in the process of trying to blame mass shootings on trans people. I frequently see people say that he was taken out of context, but when you go look up the entire context, what he's saying is even worse. You know what dead guy you don't have to ever explain context about? Mr. Rogers. Did you know he also kept a public list of professors who taught on subjects like feminism, LGBT issues, or even just American history that he didn't like? He posted these professors pictures and contact information on his website and turned his supporters loose on them flooding them with death threats, sending barrages of e-mail and phone calls to universities to get these professors fired, some of them even having to uproot their lives and move. Doesn't sound very in the spirit of "just keep talking" does it? Imagine having 100,000 people e-mail your boss saying you need to be fired in the worst terms possible. That's not very freedom of speechy of him. He spread Covid misinformation too, something which conservatives have been 100% wrong about on every angle of the subject for over 5 years now. His entire operation was grift. Getting people angry in order to extract money from them. Heck, his memorial service yesterday was selling Merch! His wife set up a gofundme even though they've been bringing in millions for years. So, while you feel you may have some alignment on his views, I would highly encourage you to find out what he was really about and the positions he took specifically to build the very walls he was claiming to want to pull down. But feel free to post a position he had that you agree with and I'll take a wack at it.

  3. Stephen Miller 10/6/2025: “A district court judge has no conceivable authority whatsoever to restrict the President…” Hitler, Reichstag speech (1933): “The German nation will no longer tolerate that its will be nullified by judges of a corrupt system.” Miller: “The President has undisputed authority under both statute and the Constitution to deploy troops… to defend a federal facility.” Hitler Speech, Berlin 1934: “The Führer alone is the bearer of the will of the nation; his authority is the highest law.” Miller: “This large-scale political violence is domestic terrorism.” Hitler, Munich 1923: “Whoever resists us is not a political opponent but an enemy of the nation, deserving no mercy.” Miller: “The Portland Police have refused to render aid and assistance to ICE officers… The attacks on ICE are violent armed resistance designed to incapacitate the federal government.” Goebbels, 1934: “Whoever obstructs the work of the state, whoever aids its enemies, commits treason against the nation.” Miller: “We’re going to liberate this city from the criminal element that has plagued it for generations.” Hitler, Reichstag speech, 1933: “We will liberate Germany from the poison that has corroded it from within for generations.” Stephen miller, Memphis speech to LEOs: “I see the guns and badges in this room. You are unleashed. The handcuffs you’re carrying—they’re not on you anymore, they’re on the criminals.” Hitler, Speech to SA and SS, 1934: “You are the soldiers of a new Germany. You are released from the weakness of the past—your duty is to act, not to hesitate.” They're not even hiding the plagiarism.

  6. Been enjoying the fall weather, knowing winter is coming...out rolling in the Caddy last night and today--listening to a couple of my favorite '80s albums--Def Leppard's 'Hysteria' and Van Halen's '5150'... then this afternoon took the Mustang out, listening to U2's 'The Joshua Tree'. Has it really been that long since I was 17? (yes). Back home and I put on some Rush--'Subdivisions' speaks to my computer geek teenage side, 'Time Stand Still' really speaks to me at 55, as does Pink Floyd's 'Time'. Going to put on Pink Floyd's 'The Division Bell', which was an essential part of my soundtrack through the mid 90s. Got to get some Depeche Mode and Pearl Jam in there (I love, love 'Sirens'). I've also been enjoying some Great Lakes Brewing Company Ocktoberfest beer..going to start a bonfire in my firepit tonight and listen to more 80s-90s music probably...

  8. No. He had a gross misunderstanding, intentional or not, of what DEI is. The rest of that quote does not improve the context. He said he specifically questioned the pilot's competence because of skin color. Just like he questioned Justice Jackson's abilities to be a supreme court justice. Direct quote: "If we would have said three weeks ago […] that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative-action picks, we would have been called racist. But now they're coming out and they're saying it for us! They're coming out and they're saying, "I'm only here because of affirmative action." Yeah, we know. You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person's slot to go be taken somewhat seriously. Kirk then played a clip of Jackson Lee speaking in Congress, saying she had been admitted to educational institutions on affirmative action. Kirk then went on to make his point again: "We know. We know. It's very obvious to us you are not smart enough to be able to get it on your own. "I could not make it on my own, so I needed to take opportunities from someone more deserving." That's not how Affirmative Action worked. It didn't take spots away from those more deserving, it took slots away from the mediocre old-white-boys club who only would have gotten in because they're a legacy. A black pilot is a pilot because he completed all the required training, not because of some quota. DEI DOESN'T HAVE QUOTAS. DEI is just about making sure that anyone qualified is able to apply and potentially win the position regardless of gender, sex, race, religion, sexuality, etc. So to wonder if United/Delta/American put a black pilot in the driver seat just because he was black and they needed to meet a quota is just plain racist. There's a pilot shortage anyway, so anyone who is white and qualified is going to be able to find a job if they want one. No. That's a cop-out "Well I don't agree with everything Mussolini did, but at least he made the trains run on time." Don't say you agree with some of the things a nazi says without being able to very strongly qualify it. He was a bigot against race, sexuality, gender, women, and more. So unless its "Well I agree with him that the sky is blue", you're probably better off just not agreeing with him on anything.

  9. Don't be jealous. Just kidding. Just do it. Easier said than done, but I recommend it. And you nailed it. It is considered a crossing in that it's New York to Southampton, or vice versa. Those who know and love this voyage would bristle at it being called a cruise. It follows the traditional historic route of its Cunard predecessors. This is my third crossing and fourth time on QM2. I cut out a lot of things in life. I hit up BK on Whopper Wednesday, for example! Say you're heading to Europe and staying a while. Compare a nice enough cabin to outlays for one-way airfare, lodging for 7 nights, your daily meals, and that you don't have rental car costs and utilities. It's not that much more. You'll have to get an internet package. I also participate in the tipping package and give extra to the stateroom attendant and the dinner waiter and second person. I don't buy alcoholic drinks and I don't go into the casino. I bought a mug and a t-shirt this time ... usually stuff like that. I do have some CCL stock I bought a few years ago. The 7 day crossing gets you $100 in credit. This crossing runs deep in my family. I made 2 round trips on then active Italian Line as a kid. My parents and some of my relatives did it more often than that. Italian Line still called it a transatlantic crossing, but they had stops. Often, from NYC, it was (1) Portugal: Lisbon, (2) Spain: Algeciras/Gibraltar, Barcelona, OR Palma de Mallorca, (3) France: Cannes, and finally (4) Genoa and Naples. They did drop off and pick up passengers at these ports, so people from 4 Southern European countries used their ships to immigrate or repatriate. In port, we usually took the 4 hour motorcoach tours. Lisbon was my favorite port. My parents said the food on Italian Line was top notch, but it was definitely Italian-centric and only somewhat international. The cabin attendants made us these delicious panini with prosciutto, cheese, etc. when we kids asked for them as snacks. You will never forget crossing an ocean as a child.

  11. While the gentleman from St Louis and the gentleman from Montreal sling dog feces at each other on the forum, America continues to decline, including American brands like Dodge and Chrysler, as well as Jeep. Multiple reasons my next car will be a Subaru or a Mazda, Toyota maybe. Although the Ranger has been excellent, just hit 121 K. There isn't much fighting for it at this point. ITs sort of like the world trade center after it got hit by a fully fueled Boeing, what has happened will lead to an inevitable (and spectacular collapse.) Rather than a short term temper tantrum on the part of both of you, perhaps we can just rationally conclude that any special relationship the two countries had is now over.

But Id be cheeky with it. Id Hellcat them. Just a minor grudge I still hold for the merger of equals. Id also nix all the 3 pointed star and AMG badging. Id replace all 3 pointed stars with the Dodge Fratzog and AMG with the Cat from Hell badging. Id leave the 6.3 liter badging though. A Hellcat engine is 6.2 liters. And so is that AMG engine. Its just that the 6.3 has a historical significance. At that point...who cares?

  17. A blue wave in the House is nearly certain and will go a long way to halting the current wave of shenanigans. The midterms are 13 months away and given how many decades have passed since Jan 20, 2025, I'm not convinced we'll even make it. A blue senate is unlikely. There aren't enough flippable red seats to take. Maybe a longshot like Andy Bashir taking out McConnell.... but I think he's gonna run for Prez.

This was something I really missed when I lived in the concrete desert. I keep folding chairs, towels, flip flops in the cars in case the need to beach happens any time..;)

  21. That's not what I meant - his white picket fence rhetoric isn't necessarily about candidates, but just about what the highest collective tier of "shoulds" in society are. He said he liked LDS folks and how they align with what he thinks. They spell it out fairly clearly that eternal blessings in the afterlife are achieved by having children through a temple sealed marriage and that's just another one of those "shoulds." That, too, is not for everyone and also judgmental. Kirk's delivery had a great deal of snideness in it. I went back and checked out 5 to 10 vids. I'm not a liberal, but I know what's right. And, comparatively speaking, we should all kiss the ground if elected Republicans in office were more like Liz Cheney and Kinzinger who have been sidelined. They'd get my vote.

  22. Sooooo jealous! A crossing on the Queen Mary 2 is definitely on my bucket list. That reminds me that I need to start accumulating Carnival stock. If you are a shareholder with at least 100 shares, you get onboard credits up to $250 depending on the length of the cruise. The stock is only about $30/share right now.

  23. I had to look up the Feast of San Gennaro in NYC ... courtesy of Neapolitan immigrants since 1926. This crusty dude is of local vintage ... not from the motherland. He can't pronounce "cacio" correctly because he was probably brought up with a dialect. It's "ca-cheeo," not "ca-gee-uh." Love all the blondies who want to culturally appropriate themselves to being Italian. I've seen these types in language courses in h.s. and college and they can be pretty dumb. I should make it a point to be in NYC during San Gennaro. The official day in Naples is September 19. The NYC festival runs about 10 days. I could get lunch or dinner in Little Italy on a daily basis. But, take note that a la carte street food + NYC prices can make for a dent. The a la carte pricing at Greek festivals in secondary cities adds up, so imagine how so in NYC.

  25. Sadly the world is already on board with letting the U.S. consolidate into depression, recession, failure on every front and way. As one of just many stories out there from the BBC: Firms will hesitate to invest in US after raid - South Korea president The more you read from around the world the uglier it gets: South Korea says detained Korean workers released from Georgia facility before flight home Fastest way is to have a Narcissist ignorant idiot47 and his administration be too stupid to understand that Americans do not have the knowledge to setup battery plants. Nor is the desire to get the technical degrees by most folks especially in the south based on recent education reviews of states here. So, this leaves companies to bring in temporary outside folks to get things setup so they can train those wanting to get the jobs. Yet the stupidity is so great that the $350 Billion that Korea committed to invest in the U.S. is now probably not going to happen. Presidential Chief: $350 Billion Fund Talks Stalled This is shown by Hyundai now thinking of mothballing the existing plants under construction and just keeping things as is for now. That means no $35 billion investment for Georgia, 10's of thousands of jobs and growth in the auto industry here. No this is Stagnation and death of the Auto Industry in the U.S. Ram has killed already having any type of EV and the Ramcharger EV pickup will now be a copy of what Ford did with a traditional gas truck and electrical to offer using the truck as a generator much like the F150 with pro power package were used to power homes in Texas due to the stupidity of that state leadership with a weak electrical grid. Ram's electric pickup truck is officially dead In other words, ignorant leadership brings death, and the days of the old manufacturing industrial revolution is gone and will not come back. The biggest problem is that neither political party is working for "We the People" they are clearly taking money into their own pocket and letting the 1% have their way, this will destroy what people think America is about. Idiot47 and his lemmings have no clue about "We the People", they are stupid in understanding the constitution, willing to manipulate to break the laws for their own self entitlement gain and fail to see how they are destroying this country. While CEO Mary of GM says they are still committed to EVs, the pull back and single line manufacturing of all EV models while they invest billions in old tech is not going to save GM in the long run unless they truly make some major changes. Society will move forward, auto industry will move forward the Ford, Stellantis, and GM, America auto industry very well could become a footnote in history books by 2050, though it could get stretched out if America truly becomes a dictatorship state, then look at Russia and their old back assward country as well as North Korea and how behind they are. Two 3rd world countries thinking they are 1st world and a 1st world country becoming a 3rd world country due to stupidity. South Koreans face shock and confusion after worker detentions at Georgia Hyundai plant | PBS News Hyundai plant raid: In a quiet Georgia town, the silence is deafening after nearly 500 workers were taken | CNN Here is how modern Korea was willing to go with this plant. I Visited Hyundai's New $7.6 Billion EV Factory in the US — See Inside - Business Insider Everyone needs to strive to be like this guy, took his first sky diving to celebrate turning 100 years old. 26. Montreal is cool. But all the enlightened Americans know that already. Its useless for me to state how wonderful Montreal is, its to deaf ears. Why? Miserable Americans themselves do not know how cool their own country USED to be. When America actually meant for something, let alone for them to give a shyte about Montreal. My life is great. Thanks for the encouragement. Nobody on here (certain posters) gives a shyte for that though. So...they get a dose of American reality instead. Believe me, I know how lucky I am to be living where I am. Montreal has got its problems. We are on civic elections shortly and the shortcomings of Montreal, and the Province itself (language laws again) is front and center which will spill unto the Provincial elections next year. Or the next. I now MORE about American politics at this juncture than of my own backyard... Canadians are rallying ALL by themselves to boycott ANYTHING America. It is quite the contrast of decades past to where Canadians are THAT much united. However, Quebec politics of language and Quebec culture and the protection of has crept in in these elections and are about to open old wounds DESPITE how much Quebecois are united with the rest of Canada. Our politicians. whether its Maple Maga, or Quebec culture protectionists, or Albertan, play by the Trump political playbook...

It really doesn't have anything to do with tariffs though, it should be getting more product due to tariffs, not less. They should move Envision production there because it is mechanically similar to the XT4, and then make some Buick EVs off of Bolt.

  35. eh, I'm mean yeah there's gonna be some issues in automotive finance, but I'm not sure that a 10 year old Cruze with bad transmission and the owner still owes $1900 is really evidence of that. I took over the loan on my father-in-law's Cruze after he couldn't drive anymore, and aside from it not having cruise-control, it was a perfectly fine little car. It ran nicely, rode nicely, and could tickle 40mpg on highway trips. Every once in a while I see an LTZ in that dark green and they were handsome in that setup.

  45. I have always believed in Education is the great equalizer that allows people of very different viewpoints to at least communicate, live next door to each other and be respectful that we all want to live a quiet, free life. Death of anyone before their natural time is just WRONG!!! I agree that communication is a very important point and needs to continue in a respectful manner to work out joint agreements to get the bigger picture done. Respect for ALL HUMANITY is a MUST in my book and in this regard, some fall low on the ladder of respect. The biggest question that is very hard to answer is HOW can another human clearly not have respect for others regardless of their choices in life. Regardless of one's choice of spouse, when one does not pay another's bills, what they do in the privacy of one's home on top of a desire for religion or lack of one, should not reduce that human at all. We have far more honorable Transgender, Gay and Lesbian folks as well as folks that choose to be non-binary serving our great country than the weak, ignorant administration we have today. Looking at the companies that are having to go bankrupt, close, sending manufacturing out of the country, the Tariff war is a FAILURE, Idiot47 is a FAILURE, the world sees it, half of this country sees it and as such, America has gone backwards almost 100 years due to the incompetence in DC. Those that think America is getting stronger, are a horse with blinders on, in this case a Human with Blinders on to the reality of the current situation.
