  1. Well in that case, how about a...ummm, Corvette convertible...? A late C5 or early C6?
  2. Hood props a pet peeve of yours, Fly? The new G uses gas struts at least. Pic (kinda large): http://www.autospies.com/images/uploads/la...0411-161913.jpg
  3. That's so disenheartening (and I'm not even a large fan of cars from that era, either). So much wasted potential. There wasn't even the slightest hope for any of them, huh?
  4. The spectacular JiangLing Landwind: http://www.jalopnik.com/cars/jiangling/
  5. Avalanche! (Don't ask me why this was the first thing that popped into my mind...)
  6. Nope. This one is the one and the same going into the GMT900 hybrids.
  7. AWD? Not till Epsilon II.
  8. I think you may have answered this before but I have to wonder how well that actually hides the detailing of the car. I see it does at least hide part of the taillight design (the triangular-shaped extension on the rear quarter panel).
  9. The GM/DCX/BMW Hybrid System Unveiled The American (GM), German (BMW) and bi (DCX) automakers have joined forces on a hybrid project that aims to compete with the likes of Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive. The two-mode hybrid system promises increased fuel economy and overall performance compared to conventional single-mode hybrids. Check out the full story on this latest evolution in hybrid technology. Read "GM, DaimlerChrysler, BMW Premiere Unprecedented Hybrid Technology" @ The Auto Channel
  10. It wouldn't be my top pick either but there are worse cars you can get from that model year. It's better than the Blazer, right?
  11. At first glance, it looks kind of Ridgeline-esque. Well, since I now likely have several hits put out on me, if you never hear from me again, I'd just like to say I've enjoyed my time on C&G.
  12. 1. 160 not 1000. 2. Because if you do that, you get accused of trying to sweep the issue under the rug.
  13. In case you didn't notice, I've decided to move to a blog-like methodology in posting news and articles on C&G instead of my old method of simply cutting and pasting the entire article. It takes a little longer to post news this way since I'm typing the titles and content myself but I feel it's a good way to add some originality in posting news here. I just wanted to gauge the opinions of the rest of the forum on this as I feel I will stick with this method from now on. So, thoughts?
  14. 411 on a Saab 9-1 With the 9-2X out of the picture after this model year, Saab is starting work on its replacement. The new car is called the 9-1 and is to be based off of the Delta platform which will underpin Saturn's Ion replacement. The 9-1 is set to be available in early 2009 and use design cues from the Aero-X Concept. Read "Future Saab 9-1: New A3 Fighter Rumored in the Pipeline" @ Edmunds
  15. Ahem...:AH-HA_wink: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...?showtopic=8266
  16. Delphi Dancing with the Prancing Horse GM's old pal Delphi is joining forces with Ferrari. The upcoming Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano will use the auto supplier's MagnaRide suspension. That is the same suspension used in various GM vehicles such as the Cadillac STS. Read "Ray of Light: Bankrupt Delphi Wins Contract to Supply Ferrari" @ Edmunds
  17. Detroit Designers: "'Retro' is a no-no." Designers for Ford and Chyrsler offer their views on "retro" cars. (Don't let Pat Schiavone know I used a bad word.) Could Chyrsler be bucking the retro trend in favor of a different design direction? How much of their own roots will Ford tap? Read "Retro Is Evil: Detroit Designers Warn Against 'Craptastic' Cars" @ Edmunds
  18. Camaro Enthusiasts to GM: "Hurry the f*** up!" This probably isn't news per se but as reported by Edmunds, GM is being swamped with e-mails from fans clamoring for the Camaro to be brought to showrooms as soon as possible. Edmunds discusses this and more about the Camaro producttion possibilities with Bob Boniface, GM director of advanced design. Read "Grassroots Organization Pushes GM To Hurry Camaro Production" @ Edmunds
  19. Out of Tuners? An Autoweek writer comments on the sport compact tuner scene and opines on what he thinks seems to be a trend on the decline. He cites the declination of quality and quantity of attendance as possible evidence that the tuning scene may be making its way out. Does he have a point? Read "Here Today, Gone Tomorrow?" @ Autoweek
  20. That's not so much denial as it is arguing over semantics. I think you're reading too much into the guy's name, too. "Toyota Motors U.S.A."... not really a huge deal...
  21. The Latest Sun-Bimmer Captured Most of us have seen the offical photos of the new BMW 3-Series coupe but the convertible version is yet to be seen. World Car Fans has obtained a couple of spy photos of this model. This final product is to be offically unveiled in October and goes on sale in March of 2007. Read "More BMW 3 Series Cabrio Spy Photos" @ World Car Fans
  22. Topless Model! Yep, right now The Car Connection is featuring a topless model on their front page...a Rolls-Royce convertible prototype. (Admit it. How many of you held out a little hope?) The car looks to be in the vein of the 100EX concept, basically a Phantom convertible which Roller stated they had no plans to build. Also featured are blurbs on hybrid incentives, more Ford buyouts and the status of Delphi-IAE talks. Read The Car Connection's Daily Edition for April 27, 2006
  23. The Lienerts Go Elemental Ma and Pa Lienert have finally gotten off of their lazy behinds and have finally decide to grace us with a new vehicle review. This week's subject is the 2006 Honda Element 4WD EX-P (the painted panel package -- try saying that 3 times fast). Check out what the car reviewing tag team has to say about the latest version of Honda's resident box-on-wheels. Read "Honda's no-frills people hauler adjusts its look, adds more features" @ The Detroit News
  24. Gray Skys are gonna clear up, put on a happy... Never mind, that's just as corny as I thought it'd be. Congrats, TruckGuy.
  25. I've experimented with blog-style posts to post news a couple of times. I may transition to doing that all of the time. We'll see...
