  2. sounds like the "we were just following orders" argument soldiers make when accused of war crimes. and just like those cases where the soldier can't be forced to follow an illegal order, a contractee cannot be forced to follow an illegal contract, which these contracts would be if they are found to be legally discriminatory. so because American's weren't complaining 5 years ago, Canadian's can't complain now? Thats DISCRIMINATION! I remember checking out prices on a Camaro 6-7 years ago and IIRC, the Camaro was still cheaper in the US, even though our dollar was in the toilet. all in all, I agree this discrimination claim is BS, but I believe it shines attention again on the claim of price fixing by companies in the Canadian market

  4. the lower could be a fake tip and pipe?
  5. yup horrible news. don't know how toyota will survive this setback
  6. An interesting side note to this. Bombardier (a Canadian company none the less), who makes Ski-Doo's and Snow-Doo's, has told its American dealer network to put a surcharge on products they sell to Canadians who come across the border looking to take advantage of the exchange rate and to eventually stop selling product to Canadians altogether for fear of having their dealer contract canceled altogether. I wonder if we might see this eventually happening to car dealers eventually as well
  7. no it doesnt. a lot of materials used in the manufacturing process are still imported
  8. if currency exchange were the reason, then that book and those car's should be 1:1, thats the whole basis of this lawsuit. I imagine the reason they are going after automaker's and not publisher's is the relative price difference in the products. $3-4 on a book isnt' a big deal and since most people dont' look long term, they just dont' care. $5-10k on the other hand tends to get and keep people's attention The suit hasn't been certified, and unless they can somehow prove the companies were colluding to keep car prices higher here, I doubt it will be since there are a lot of factor's that make our car's more expensive, including the fact the Canadian car maker's have to make up for profits lost on cars made here and sold to the US
  9. signing bonuses? what a wonderful little dream world the UAW live in
  10. it is but its less and less every time our dollar goes up
  11. with the dollar going up, Buzz knows he's going to be in a tougher and tougher fight with GM because its getting less cost effective to make stuff here.
  12. i really hate unions. The teamsters have legal contracts to haul those cars, and those cars were made when the union was working. I can kinda understand not wanting to haul scab made cars, but they are just hurting their "brothers" cause those cars not be sold aren't going to make any money that would eventually end up in the worker's hands
  13. http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/CityandRegion/...521040-sun.html I knew the Torrent was getting replaced with a GMC a year ago, but killing the Nox is news to me. Any insight on this new vehicle? The H4? or perhaps they are just killing the Nox in name only and the new vehicle will be another Chevy?
  14. With the huge financial changes/realizations that have gone on over the last few years, I think/hope GM will hold fast this time. They know that they can't keep on going for much longer by bending to the UAW's demands. If the did, 15-20 years from now (thats being generous) there might not be a GM. It might hurt now to have a prolonged strike, but they will probably be a able to recover long term.
  15. just make sure you spend some of that money on your own security. people's on the line's can become f@#king assholes. even when they are your "friends" the rest of the contract
  16. f@#k you Buzz and f@#k your union. You signed a contract to work and build trucks for GM. you'll build the trucks with whatever parts GM gives you, UAW made or not. my gym is right beside the CAW headquarters in Willowdale. every time I pass by, I'll usually give them the finger. today I might add an extra loogey
  17. This weekend, I was lucky enough to attend a great charity event called Corvette's for Kids Road Tour (http://www.corvettesforkids.com/), which collects money for Camp Oochigeas (http://www.ooch.org/), a camp for kids with cancer. Here are a few picture's I got when I wasn't trying to keep my drool of all these beautiful cars.

  19. I read that for some silly reason, the diesel will only be available in California and other states with similar high emissions laws
