Totally agree, I hope Ford also does an EV version as an EV version for inner city use will be really economical and beneficial for traveling so few miles.

Holden Decided To Switch Commodore to FWD In 2011
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Heritage Marques
I do believe it has been replaced with a desire for RWD / AWD Performance SUV/CUVs. -
Nice looking update for this mini-van. Interior is good too, just one thing missing. AWD I truly believe there is a valid use case and customers that would buy an AWD Ford Transit Connect Wagon. GM sold plenty of Safari AWD vans and I still see a ton of them at the pass in snow with families going Skiing / Snowboarding. Ford could really hit those bigger families that want the AWD capabilities of a CUV but in a van format.

Holden Decided To Switch Commodore to FWD In 2011

Totally makes sense. -
According to Autoblog, Porsche is doubling their investment between 2018 to 2022 from 3 Billion to 6 Billion on EV development as they expand their Mission E auto line. Seems that Musk / Tesla should be concerned as Porsche just might beat them to the punch in a fast powerful car before they get Tesla Roadster 2.0 out the door to buyers.

Guess they liked the idea of Cadillac having the V Sport edition so why not have an N Sport edition for them. -
Dream Garage- New Average Transaction Price Edition

Even in V6 form, I would take the Durango over the Pilot every day and twice on Sunday! I would take it in their Rhino color that you can also get on the Jeep, just looks awesome. I like it cause you rarely see them and they are very different compared to the millions of red out there. Will say their Maroon is very nice too. -
Totally agree, some people think being alive for an extra month but in a drug induced state with pain or whatever might be is living and yet they forget about quality of life. I want to go fast even if my lifetime on this planet is shorter. No need to lay about and drag on putting a burden on my kids and family.

First Porsche Found after a Century plus, EV P1 at the Beginning! Always exciting to learn things about founders of car companies and in this case it is even more exciting as Porsche is not new to the EV Auto. In 1898 Ferdinand Porsche built himself the first Porsche vehicle. and it was placed in an Austrian shed in 1902 and forgotten about till 2017 and then on Monday was added to the Porsche History Museum in Stuttgart Germany. Let's back up a bit and give some details that auto nuts love to know about. Ferdinand Porsche founded his company in 1948 and before then was a man who had no formal engineering training but an aptitude for it as he worked for coach builder Jacob Lohner. Mr. Porsche was asked by Mr. Lohner to come up with an electric powertrain. Mr. Porsche continued his work and on June 26th 1898 the "Egger-Lohner EV C.2 Phaeton was put on the streets of Vienna Austria. Mr. Porsche engraved P1 on all the components he designed and built which was the key components of the powertrain. Here is the specs of the P1: Electric motor weighed 287 lbs. Produced 3 HP continuous and had spurt mode to 5 HP as achieved in overdrive mode. Top speed of 21 mph. Vehicle weight before battery pack 2000 lbs. Battery pack weight 1000 lbs with 50 mile range. September 1899 Mr. Porsche entered a car race where the contestant had to complete 24 miles with 3 passengers as fast as they could. Mr. Porsche piloted his EV Auto across the finish line 18 min ahead of the 2nd place finisher and more importantly where more than half of the contestants failed to finish at all due to technical problems according to the museum history telling. Today Porsche has the Panamera gas-hybrid sedan as well as the 918 gas-hybrid racer. from 3 hp to 887 hp, from 21 mph to 211 mph. Mr. Porsche would be proud of where his company has gone and especially that they are going back to his original roots and first powertrain that he developed and believed in. Is is a nice looking CUV, but . . . . . . . . . . . . . Hello Ford, charging more for monochromatic rather than the chromed Titanium version just makes no sense to me especially as your now priced in the same territory as Lincoln. Competing with your own luxury brand.

EV Baby is awesome, Hope Ford, GM and RAM jump on this too. GM could just rebadge the Nissan mini work EV van that is sold in the asian rim as a Chevy EV work van here.

Yea, why are OEM still putting steeler rims with hubcaps on cars. Just terrible.......... O'h wait your talking about football, well the Steelers I am surprised are still around considering we pretty much got rid of steel manufacturing. But it would be cool if they did do better. But the stupid rules and calls just make me shake my head at the NFL.

Hyundai News:Hyundai Drops First Images of 2019 Santa Fe

WOW, Love the warm brown two tone interior and the exterior looks more like a traditional SUV than a Jelly Bean CUV. Like this way more than their past models. -
Fiat News: Justice Department Seeking Big Fines In Settlement with FCA
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
I can now see an announcement that FCA is delaying X, Y and Z new models for X amount of years due to the cost of the settlement taking dollars away from R&D for creation of new models. This could be a death to some product lines as FCA has to clean up the mess and simplify their product offering. -
We'll still no fan of the Predator mouth grill and the interior just looks cheap. Maybe it is the pictures, but this just really cheapens the car with that interior to MHO.

January 2018: Mercedes-Benz USA
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Sales Figure Ticker
My friend you're getting too literal now, People resonate with names better than abbreviations. If abbreviations resonated so well then Unix / Linux and the bloody CLI would be king rather than the GUI and how people go apple or windows for the bulk of users. Talk to the average peep and they remember G-Wagon, Escalade, Prius, but ask them about a GLS, ELR, etc. and people draw a blank. All I am saying is that names resonate better with people than alphanumeric mess we have on automakers cars.- 34 replies

January 2018: Mercedes-Benz USA
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Sales Figure Ticker
Not so sure about your statement on names, social media is making names more relevant than in the past and Prius has had that affect, Escalade also has had that effect. My gut tells me that Marketing is going to have to pay attention to names the more people follow stupid social media.- 34 replies

Mercedez Benz News 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Breaks Cover
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Mercedes-Benz
Not a bad looking car, just nothing WOW inspiring. Will sell to the badge snobs that have to have the MB label. I have to make the assumption that MB is afraid of loosing CUV sales to the Hatchback in the US as to why they are not bringing it here when Canada will get it.I imagine that MB dealers close to the boarder will get their hands on some. The two 7 or 10.25 size dash screens will look fine, I can only imagine how cheap the 10.25 with a side 7 inch will look in the auto. But then that is probably just the width size and not the height. I get very much a Ricer feel from looking at the pictures of the interior. BLAH -
WOW, What a Joke Ford is pulling on the public, SES sits atop Titanium and yet you get less for a higher price. Amazing,

Tesla Wagon production has begun in UK. Start with a Model S P90 and deconstruct the rear, add a carbon fiber rear addition and lift gate and you have the Tesla Wagon that went from a 26.3 cubic feet of interior space to an SUV-like 33.7 cubic feet, that is 7.4 additional cubic feet of space. This enhanced Wagon added a total of 26 pounds to the finished weight and is still faster than the Mercedes-benz AMG E63 wagon. This whole project came about by a guy who got his Tesla S and then realized his Four legged friends could not be in the far back comfortably. What you end up with is a new company called QWESTNORFOLK and they are now taking real orders for people who want a feature rich EV 4 door wagon. According to the interview that was done by Hybrid Cars, (web site) This was all done use established auto part suppliers in Europe meaning that there glass, rear window wiper, electrical bits, etc. can be easily obtained. Everyone is writting about it this week but the auto is here is functional now. Wonder how many will actually get built? Europe does like their wagons and EVs and this is both.

January 2018: Ford Motor Company
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Sales Figure Ticker
I grew up with true full size Continentals, Delta 98 station wagons and Cadillac Brougham. Those are full size cars. Today's full size cars are histories mid size and the continental is just that, a beautiful looking auto with mid size tight interior portions to me. Maybe what they need is a Continental station wagon. Plus the coupe style eats rear headroom and not just on this car but all of them. Worst trend ever is making coupe style on all sedans. Ford should bring back the Comet!- 19 replies
