  1. General Motors will inaugurate its newly built engine plant at Talegon on November12th 2010. The new flexi-engine plant, is the first of its kind and can produce both petrol and diesel engines. The commercial production of the New Talegon Engine Plant will commence on November 1st of this year. GM has invested $230 million in this plant which has the annual capacity of 1.6 lakh engines. GM's new engine plant will manufacture four engine variants. The first engine variant will be a 1 L engine that will power GM's Beat car. Beat will be the first car model to get a locally made diesel engine from GM. Chevrolet Beat diesel will be launched during the first quarter of next year. GM is planning to roll out a CNG-powered Beat in a couple of months. According to P Balendran, VP, GM India, the company is yet to finalize the date for the launch of a diesel Spark. He added that the new GM Talegon Engine Factory will start producing 1 petrol and 1 diesel engine initially, which will likely be the 1.2 L petrol and the 1.4 L diesel. GM India has plans to launch 3 commercial vehicles and two passenger cars in the coming years. One India
  2. I looked into this further with this result "This application RA 629 is canceled by VM Motori / GM ". So in house is the next step. All that money spent on the Fiat misadventures and they(GM) still didn't get a decent diesel program going
  3. Question GM has the 2.9L 60* DOC 24 valve V6 built by VM Motori .The engine has a torque of 550 Nm (406 lb.-ft.) beginning at 2000 rpm. The new, compact V-6 powerhouse features aluminum cylinder heads and a 60 degree bank angle, 83.0 mm bore and 90.4 mm stroke, which results in displacement of 2935 cubic centimeters. The engine block is made of stronger and lighter Compacted Graphite Iron (as compared to lower strength aluminum or heavier grey cast iron) to optimize engine packaging, weight, refinement and performance.2.9l diesel V6 Why would GM develop another engine if this one is in the pipeline it was last used in the CTS EU model?

It would make sence to move the barges to Chevy as the price contuse older folks still need room for their man made knees and such and it wouldn't dilute Buick Thanx for the post
