  2. Much has been written about the Insight, Honda’s new low-priced hybrid. We’ve been told how much carbon dioxide it produces, how its dashboard encourages frugal driving by glowing green when you’re easy on the throttle and how it is the dawn of all things. The beginning of days. ... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/driving/j...icle6294116.ece
  3. This was already posted Topic : Fastlane: Transmissions are important for improving fuel economy too Link : http://www.cheersandgears.com/index.php?showtopic=32434
  4. This is the attitude which has plagued GM for soooooo long and killed Pontiac. Pontiac should have had their sites on BMW Mazda and the like not Chevy . Dealers be damned Buick has never been a volume sales outlet like Chevy and never should be. Compete with Lincoln Lexis not within GM
  5. If it gets the new GM back on track & the Government out of their business then by all means bankruptcy please!
  6. No I'm not interested with yet another roadster either. I was of the the thought that the the platform was further developed, not just stillborn andleft with a single type model. This is another waste if time & money. If this is true I can see why they haven't moved further and had to develop yet another platform. Costly so costly, and with the put they paid Fiat so goes Mopar. Thanks for clarifying the matter.
  7. I remember that Bob Lutz had said that it could be made profitably at 20 k units a year, as far as being flexible I'm not sure what you mean. It was shown as a 'vert ,coupe, sedan, wagon. What am I missing? I'm just trying to see the problem with this platform. If there are flaws Ive not herd as of yet. If its just not a pet project of any certin person or group within GM then that's what needs to change. Just looks like an under utilized platform that is in the economy car segment that most all the development money has been spent and is there for the taking.
  8. In the same vien GM could offer the Nomad/Mini type car on Solstice platform to get return out of it and make a profit. It's the right size and turbo 3 , 4 , turbo 4 in place this is a no brainer also. Parts shelf cars always make money and GM will have new green products at little cost. Just what the Dr. ordered.
  9. Me thinks that with the new CAFE std.s a full sized wagon might be in the cards. The lower frontal area allows for a better c/d allowing for higher mpg. A 96 Caprice wgn. beats a C1500 4dr by a mile at 26mpg hi-way like maybe 7-8mpg given the weight is close. Sure could kill a 'burbon in mileage and if given a nice mid sized V6 diesel ???
  10. '67 Imp SS 427 '65 Chevelle 2d Wagon '82 X11 (fixed rack location) , '81 was M/T car of the year! '65 & up Corvair Z34 Euro Lumina's Oh yeah those Dust busters got under your skin not into your blood
  11. The 215 is the same externaly as the 300/340/350 Buick small block Chevy 151 i4 Nova 1961 Pontiac Tempest slant i4 was 1/2 of a 389cid mid 60's Tempest 230 OHC including sprints 4bbl 180 HP Corvair turbos 65-66 Olds 425 66-67 Thanx for remembering my 90 G/P STE Turbo one of 1000
  12. If you think about it GM has been using all of the technoligy except the lithium ion batteries. The ev1 for the controls, GM ElectraMotive for the drive system. All they have to do is package and merge the systems into an auto. If any one corp. can do it it would be GM Also have you herd the comercials that a railroad corp. has been playing about the kind of mpg that trains get? I know that the rolling resistance is almost non egsistant but there's something to be said for tuning for a generators limited rpm needs. I may be wrong as I read the Volt info when it was posted but GM projects it will get the equivalent of 150mpg on bat. and 75 on gas and that was before the oil burner was even brought up there wont be any hybred that could match let alone surpass these stats. My only hope is that they offer this system in a wide range of cars and trucks econo cars, lux, hi preformance, SUVs RVs lets not reinvent the car that we drive, just the way we propel them And yes the post cant end without mention of a replacement for 84" wide rwd bof station wagon that goes and handles like a ZR1(still gotta dream ;-)
  13. Still lurking, make mine SS flavor plzzz. Still no damn chevy smiley
  14. How close was this to the the 'vette wagon concept Ah-ha? & does Nomad still have leggs within GM? inquiring minds GOTTA know ;-)
  15. So I guess I've missed how GM has upgraded Kappa to take a smallblock & not rip its self in 1/2. Now can I have my 327 Nomad???????????????? :chevy:
