  1. This would be a song that I would play when riding my motorcycle.

30 year anniversary of Slippery When Wet this year to boot.

Im a cowboy. On a steel horse I ride.

    Im Wanted. (wa-nte-e-ed)

    Dead or Ah-Live.

    And this one

    Aaaaaaand....this one

  2. @Guest Howie

Take a look at the rest of the post I made....

It doesnt just stop at side curtain air bags...

Rumor has it....and it has been debunked....however....

    http://www.motor1.com/news/22306/mercedes-sls-amg-started-development-as-next-gen-dodge-viper/

According to Inside Line, Dodge was indeed working on a new Viper when then corporate partner Daimler got involved in the project to use it to co-develop the SLS. Later, the Viper side of the development was dropped when Chrysler got into financial trouble.

Dodge engineers got as far as building an aluminum chassis for the model as well as creating a new suspension.

Now they may get the chance to get back to where they left off and complete the new Viper for a resurgent Dodge brand that will become the performance-oriented division of the post-bankruptcy Chrysler.

    http://www.wired.com/2015/05/dodge-viper-last-truly-insane-sports-cars/

Whenever I ask about this story, Chrysler reps change the subject. But the fact that the tale keeps circulating is telling—people want the Viper to have an underdog origin. They want it to be a throwback to the weird old days of the business, when emotion ruled. (The other unkillable rumor holds that the current Viper was meant to be all-new and a platform twin to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. When Mercedes and Chrysler split, the Germans gave Auburn Hills the finger, leaving with the SLS. Which might explain why the current Viper is little more than a heavy face-lift of its predecessor. Again, I don’t know if it’s true, but the story’s popularity supports the underdog thing.)

    http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/16/report-dodge-originally-developed-sls-amg-to-be-next-gen-viper/

The story apparently goes like this. Dodge engineers were already hard at work on the next-gen Viper, with an aluminum chassis already completed and a new suspension on the way. Mercedes caught wind of the project and decided that the chassis would be the perfect starting point for the upcoming SLS. The two teams reportedly worked side-by-side on the project until Chrysler's cash crunch caused the Dodge team to focus its resources elsewhere. The end result was a brand-new SLS for Mercedes and a hole in Dodge's Viper lineup. IL bolsters its account of the Viper-turned-SLS with the fact that early SLS test mules caught by spy photogs were fitted with ill-assembled Viper sheetmetal.

While it's hard to blame Mercedes for utilizing existing engineering work (it did, after all own Chrysler at the time) to bring the SLS to market faster and cheaper, we're thinking it would have been nice to have a new aluminum chassis Viper on the streets. Here's hoping that the 2012 Viper makes us forget about our loss.

And even if this rumor has been debunked and its just a myth, the truth of the matter is that when the 3rd generation Viper, this one that we have today, was first being developed, engineered and funded when Stuttgart was calling the shots, and 'twas Stuttgart that put a limit on Mopar's developmental time and money for  the 3rd generation Viper.

Whether the SLS is a 3rd generation Viper underneath or not is a moot point..

The 3rd generation Viper did not get any love from Stuttgart.

So....blame Stuttgart for the lack of hindsight to make a 3rd gen Viper a tad more compliant for any future safety regs....because the funds ran dry for MOPAR.

Dodge was forced to used 2nd generation bits and pieces for their 3rd generation Viper.

Sergio sure as hell did not have the budget to give SRT enough dough to truly make the Viper all new.

Like you said for FCA.....at least there is Jeep.

That goes for Mercedes-Daimler as well. And those mini-vans. And the Ram Trucks.

Coincidentally, that V10 is a Ram engine....all Lamborghinied up.

And yes, low sales do have an impact for a 4rth generation....

But if the 3rd generation  was FULLY developed  in the early to mid 2000s  with a shelf life of more than 5 years....than a slight refresh might have been the difference for a 4rth generation.

Instead what we got for a 3rd generation was a refresh of a 2nd generation....

  3. Ive read somewhere that the Viper is being discontinued because of a safety regulation that takes effect in 2017 that this current Viper platform could not comply with.

Could it be side curtain airbags that are to be mandatory in all vehicles?

Anyhoo, blame federal crash laws and low sales volumes where engineering a new Viper platform may not justify the costs involved for the death of Viper.

Actually, Sergio could have not even resurrected this latest Viper if he did not want to as the Viper went in hiatus BEFORE Fiat acquired  Chryco.

So...Ill let this go by and not blame Sergio...

PS: Sure, Sergio could have allowed for a bigger budget for the resurrected Viper when he green lit the Viper on again, but bigger fish needed to be fried then as it is now.

A new platform was outta the question then as it is now...

The Viper was doomed as soon as the federal government made side curtain airbags mandatory for 2017...

And....technically, twas the Daimler-Chrysler merger that did in the Viper as Mercedes-Daimler did not put money aside for a new generation Viper way back when.

Rumor has it that the Dodge engineering money and efforts were given to the M-B SL Gullwing Coupe...true or false, the Viper program was underfunded and under developed from when the Germans owned Chryco.

It's called "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday"... it's about as old a mantra as the automobile itself.

Does that mean that I should visit my Ford dealership and buy myself the Mustang? A GT perhaps?...hell, the ecoboost version will do! After all, the ecoboost won the race!

Sounds like a sound plan to me !!!!

  5. Here Drew.....study this video and just replicate jumping the bike unto and into the truck's bed.

Like in the video, practice first with a bicycle before attempting to do with the motorized version.

I am not a bike connoisseur.

Im barely an enthusiast. I do admire them, but from afar.

  7. I wasnt gonna go nuts with the price for the furniture.

I would have probably given them the furniture anyway....I wanted to see how sincere they were to begin with.

I would have let them give me a first offer...and if the offer would have been over and beyond fair, I would have simply said.....just enjoy it!

    Instead....they..... vmt7hgA.gif....me around.....

I feel good about what I did because at the end of the day, since my momma passed away....I ALWAYS had the intentions of giving that furniture to the people that needed it the most!

OH.....there were a couple of things that I left at the house on purpose....

An old desk, a couple of bureaus, an old wooden cabinet that has no value....other than sentimental value....but still clutter....

What I did was, I took a hammer to them, not in pieces, but in strategic places where they are rendered useless, but intact, so they wont be able to use them but they are stuck lugging the stuff from the basement to the street outside....

And it was a fireworks type deal of a celebratory send off for me!!!

Sentimental value from furniture that defined my childhood that I got the satisfaction of saying goodbye to my 1st part of my life, now that the connections are over when a father and mother pass away (Im an only child) and finally, the 2nd part of my life truly begins as my 100% undivided attention now belongs to my wife and kids.

  8. ^^^

I sold my parent's house 2 weeks ago and finally saw the notary yesterday to sign the deed over to the new owners.

    Lost story short...new owners are

    10914392_988031694559839_1127051321_a.jpdick-clark-t.jpg200px-Dick_Cheney.jpg

I did not want to leave anything for them...

I had to get my parent's snowblower, brand new....bought in 2004 and only used once.

A 14ft ladder that I gave to my next door neighbor of my residence and other little nagging things such as garden hoses that the different homeless shelters and Salvation Army type foundations for the poor could not use.

Originally, the new owners were supposed to buy all the furniture...or most of it...but Id leave all the stuff there and we would come to a verbal agreement on the price.

I got a fair price for the house...not too low for me and not too high for them...It was a good deal.

But they wanted to screw me over with the furniture....

    Stove was 2 years old.

The rest had some years to the them, but in very good condition like my mom's formal dining room buffet and table.

Expensive when bought 20 years ago, but pristine in condition..

They told me that they needed most of the stuff....such as the fine dining room set, the garden hoses and even the snowblower..

They kept on stalling and stalling for a price hoping we sign and they get the keys in which I cant get into the house anymore and I just give up....

    Well...

I made a few phone calls to which the needy foundations actually pick up the stuff

....and I get to help poor people in need instead of greedy little bitches stealing from me....

    It had the 4.8 liter.

Even as a cargo van....V8s do sound GREAT!

And no. No funny shenanigans with it.

    I only have 1 demerit point left...so...

Here's the Indian version, and it's so hilariously awesome!

    I had rented this yesterday.

    The Spark's older, bigger cousin.

    2015-gmc-savana%202500%20cargo-frontside

Would one be able to say that a GM fullsized van is the opposite of a Spark?

Or would that be a Corvette?

Alls I know is that driving the LWB Savana yesterday took me back to a time when I still had hair on my head and pimples on my face.

It was an enjoyable day spent with it.

  10. You can duplicate this package here by selecting a 2.0T RWD Luxury with the 19" two-tone wheels, one of the two fancy paint options this package has, and the V-Sport brake package.  All ATS's here come with the "sport" suspension... "performance" suspension is the upgrade to Magnetic Ride Control.  In the US, this setup would run you $46,965 before incentives.

No, the upgraded calipers don't say Brembo on them, but with a 2.0T, how important is that really?

    Well.

A little more than a decade ago....my Eurotrash-snobby-ricer friends would have all said:

    But in Greek.

Its just that I couldnt find a Greek meme saying that..so a Spanish one will do!!!

  11. Ten days later, and the mad love I have for the Pitbull version has kinda been reduced to a more reasonable level of just "LIKE".

I just like this song now.

Seeing that nobody saw this thread the first time around, Im still curious to see what you people think of it.

  12. Bare in mind Balthy, that when I said that I know that it was an Oldsmobile's last model before shutting down for military production...this is information from a young 19-20 year old soldier returning back home from war and buying a used car from God knows who and God knows where?

Where did my dad's info on that Olds come from?

My info comes from my dad.

Could very well be that my dad knew this because he was more or less a  car guy....but it is known to me that he did make innocent mistakes on car years from time to time....and....I dont think after a horrendous war like that..bragging about a last model of a brand before shut down was a trophy case...

I do know that when production started up again.....THOSE are the cars that people showed off with...the brand new stylings of the good times in America post war cars......

Maybe the guy  that sold him the car made an innocent mistake?

    Thanx for the additional information.

  13. Thanx Balthy for the thread.

    My dad had a Studebaker.

    This one:

    2287_194356865645abbe7283664.jpg?itok=7U

Well, not that particular one...but a 1950 or 1951 Commander Starlight Coupe.

I think the model year that he owned was a 1951. I dont know any other details on the car.

That was his second car he has ever owned.

The first was an Oldsmobile....I dont know what model. I do know that it was the last model year before Oldsmobile shut down production for the war...it was an automatic and my dad bought it in Montreal right after he came back from the war from Germany in 1946. He stayed 1 year in the occupation of Germany

The Stubebaker was also bought after he came back from a war.  The Korean War.  He left Montreal and joined the USAAF in 1950 and his tour of duty ended in 1952. He bought the Studebaker in Boston.

  14. I am surprised they haven't done a conventional 4dr sedan 1 series yet...

    Hey!

ILL TAKE IT!!!!  WITH OPEN ARMS EVEN!!!

ANYTHING other than just another CUV on the agenda!

With the X4 and X6, I'm sure a coupe CUV X2 off the X1 is in the works...

    Yeah...dont remind me... :yuck:

Ill try to avoid any media exposure  :cussing:  to it...

And if I happen to mistakenly click on a link on yet another BMW CUV....I dont know... :banghead:

  15. I never said Movie theatres are dead and gone....I said they lost market share...

Advanced  tech like 3D IMAX screens mean diddley squat...

Star Wars MIGHT become what the Marvel movies have become....OVERSATURATED!

Marvel movies are horrible, some of them....and I know of some people that have written them off...Disney better be careful because the force might not be with them with crappy regurgitation attempts such as The Force Awakens...I understand the need to do a rehash of Episodes 4 and 5...and I personallly forgive and LOVED Episode 7....but if Episode 8 is NOT an original story line AWAY from the original Trilogy....I will write off this franchise the way I have written off The Terminator....

Yeah...the Terminator...another HUGE franchise that WONT see blockbuster numbers like T2 did...write off...

About The Transformers...Big Numbers ONLY because from the get go it was BIG EXPLOSIONS and nothing more....some flashy cars turning into flashy robots and Megan Fox's legs and cleavage and voila....$$$$$

Its a boys dream movie....Hollywood BETTER milk that as much as they can...

The fact that you said "when they get it right, they make BILLIONS...."

Once upon a time ago...peaked in the 1980s and spilled over into the 1990s, there was no such thing as "when they get it right...."

Hollywood could do nothing wrong then....unfortunately now...Hollywood is competing with other types of entertainment....

Video games....in the 1980s....Hollywood cleaned the Video Gaming industry's clock....in the 1990s, they united only for the Video Game industry to make a turn around and dominate...

In the 1990s, the Video Game Industry NEEDED Hollywood to sustain popularity with movies like The Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles and Mortal Kombat....todayits the reverse...Hollywood needs the Video Game industry to cash in because they are more misses than hits...

A reboot of the Mutant Turtles and Driver are proof....

Angelina Jolie and Lara Croft were busts...hence why a 75 year old Harrison Ford is gonna do yet another Indy Jones movie....and even then....that was once a HUGE franchise too...the last movie bombed!

Like I said...Disney better be careful with Star Wars...

Star Wars fans are a fickle bunch...

Episodes 1-3 were HATED....made billions....but HATED because they veered too far from the originals...

Episode 7...some fans HATED it...because it was too much of the same formula as the originals...

Rogue 1 is about to hit us.

    Episode 8 in another year.

    Han Solo solo movie.

    Episode 9.

    Other offshoots....

Over saturation if Rogue 1 and Episode 8 are hated.....

Ask James Cameron how he feels about the Terminator series...

He dont care as he is pushing Avatar 2....

But I dont think Avatar 2 will be that big....

Disney makes tons of money off of kids movies...cute and funny and original kids movies...

    As always...

But...its the toys that make the bulk of it...

This business model aint exactly all Hollywood, is it?

I think we both made good points....

Fight a good fight we did. Analyze we did.

I agree to some points you made on the EV side of things!

Even though electric cars are nothing new...

REAL attempts for them to succeed are still in its infancy, so Ill concede my thought process and maybe have a more similar mind set to yours on them....however, the Quebec people, politicians are ready and accepting to have EVs on our roads...and we are trying the best we can financially...because Quebec is a have not Province as we speak....we are not THAT bad....but we certainly are not rolling in money....to make EVs be the majority in 15 years from now...

  16. @Hyper...

    OH NO!!!!

I know plenty of people that OUTRIGHT REFUSED to stand in line to see Star Wars Episode 7 at the movie theater!!!!

And some of those people waited to buy the DVD to see it at home!!!

And some of the other people that refused to see it at the movie theater saw a bootleg copy on the internet...on their tablet, and even REFUSED to buy the DVD at Wallmart for $19.99 on special...

    I aint cherry picking...you are!!!

My reality on both accounts regarding Hollywood or electrics is bang on!

Hollywood has lost a lot of market share at the box office.

Only the big named franchises make the money and the line-ups.

That is why Hollywood is regurgitating old movie reboots...

Ghostbusters this summer...with an all female cast...to offset the all male cast of 1984...and to appease the so-called woman power bravado of 2016...

    Yeah...good luck wit dat, Hollywood!

I saw how successful the Robocop and Total Recall reboots were!

At least in the 1980s, Hollywood got a big boost in revenue from VHS sales!

I don't see new generation Robocop DVD sales go through the roof at XMAS time as stocking stuffers like I saw in the 1980s for tjhose movies!

To tie this in wth EVs...

Most manufacturers are gonna have an electric vehicle or two in their stable in the next 5 years....

And some of those CEOs that run those car companies believe that EVs are the future.

Just like Hollywood had to adjust to internet downloading formats on smart tablets to adjust to the new realities of movie watching...

Argue all you want...times, they are a-changin'

  17. SEE PREVIOUS PAGE FOR ANOTHER RESPONSE I MADE

(If anybody is interested that is)

    Concerning the Movie Theatre comparison:

Yet Hyper...we spend hundreds of thousands MORE....since the 1980s....on stuff like this:

    On a modest budget

    260.jpg

    On a slightly bigger budget:

    home-theater-under-3000-k.jpg?format=500

    And on a GRAND budget:

    0c50e24616a989f136a55fc96d8ec7b8.jpg

And yet...this too is becoming fast a thing of the past...as you see that little tablet on the pic above?

Well, most young folk today just watch the next Star Wars saga on their smart Tablet or worse...their smart phone...

It was just a comparison....but Ill go further..seeing as movie going and watching is part of my Greek DNA...For a couple of millennia now, plays are what some Greek artisans and poetics were known for...

From Plato to  Shakespeare to  Broadway, our world continues to promote playwrights...that has not changed...the Hollywood hooplah of moving pictures, sound, colour, stereo, 3D,  Dolby Stereo, DTS, high definition, digital 3D, computer graphics has still not deterred what my ancient peoples started:

    o.90691.jpg

    1558957-5.jpg

Yes. Its a shared technology as even my theatre plays to Hollywood to home cinemas prove

True also that not one solution works for everybody....

But...this conversation suggests that people will forego the hassles when a less hassle option presents itself tregardless....and like in another part in this thread that I stated....many American States and 3 or 4 or even 5 Canadian provinces are adapting to the EV and many people in these areas are already on a mindset to change...

And as the EV cars get more and more range...more and more will be more than happy to charge from home....and take a 30 minute piss and shyte fro tie to time...little compromises....

Such as some people will forego huge 50/60 inch TV screens and DTS surround sound in their comfort of their own home to watch a movie on 2 shytty iPhone/Pad speakers or headphones on a 5/10 inch screen phone/tablet on a bus or Subway/Starbucks...

I think my comparison still holds water...

    • Agree 1
  18. If that Middle East oil is so insignificant, why do we fight tooth and nail for it?

Also, yes there is no such thing as free electricity. However there are multiple sources in which to achieve damn near zero pollution electricity, unlike oil. That is a fact that the old school energy hairs refuses to accept and continue to tell us that our oil and how we get it is just fine, when damn the opposite of that is true.

    Yes SURREAL!!!!

    Hydroelectric power....

When the Quebec Government wanted to do the Manic 5 project....the Aboriginals fought tooth and nail for this project NOT to take place since the environment gets damaged....a lot...

Flooding....major flooding of the surrounding lands is necessary destroying many many habitable homes of the animals that happen to live there.

The dam itself kills so many fish....so yeah....this sort of stuff does come at an environmental cost...

The next time the Quebec Government wants to flood and/or excavate an entire area for another hydroelectric dam, many lessons learned from the past will at least minimize the loss of animal life and their habitat...

However....50 or so years later after all that...

    BEFORE during construction:

    5448_manic_5-11.jpg

    646.jpg

    364909-faire-exploser-manic-5-necessiter

AFTER- 50 years or so later:

    d01752a3-eb7e-4ac9-9d9f-1ff04eeca57f_ORI

I think its safe for us to say that Mother Nature has reclaimed her lost territory...and yes, the salmon are very well protected and cared for...

As for the production of the electricity itself?

The water flows freely,  the  turbines spin and a shaft connecting it to a generator, and voila!

A coal powered plant works about the same...instead of free flowing water...we have fire burning coal and the heat produced uses that steam energy to spin a turbine that is connected to a generator....

Difference is....free flowing water is...POLLUTION FREE!!!

GRAVITY is the engine that makes the water flow from the dam reservoir  on top to underneath the building that houses the generators where the turbines reside...

    hydrodam.gif

Unlike the smoke from burning coal...

    Nuclear powerplant?

If it wasnt for that nasty waste after the uranium is spent, not too bad as far as other types of pollution goes...

So yeah....hydroelectric power is as clean as it gets.

    Ive ALWAYS stated that!!!!

Hydroelectric power is as clean as it gets.

After initial destroying of land, in due time, mother nature reclaims what was hers!

After that...its battery disposals versus carbon monoxide footprints....

    Pick your poison...

But this is about Norway....and Quebec...

Hyper....you asked why would Norway ban petrol powered cars....

I think Ive stated my case with 2 posts along with Surreal's post pretty well...
