  1. My desktop has rotating backgrounds between some NASA pictures (Earth from Moon, space walks), Musk's spaceman, and Shelby GT350s, Mustang GT pp2, some Astons. But I don't work from home. @Robert Hall Love all the model boxes. Do you have all of them assembled?
  2. Absolutely no argument there. EV will take over eventually. But at the moment they don't make sense from a pure financial point, even considering their much higher efficiency.
  3. This whole discussion started when you said that the average price of a NEW car is higher than the price of base Bolt. I simply pointed out that the cars that bring that average higher than the Bolt are much better cars in every measurable metric. I just used CX-5 as an example. If you prefer a domestic example new loaded Equinox Premier with AWD starts at $34k. Here is one perfect example that says it all
  4. You comparing apples to oranges. You can't compare new car to a used one, of course a used car makes a better value. He would still need to recharge it, and more often than refueling. Not sure why refueling once in two weeks is a big deal, but regarding CarPlay and heated seats, that can be found for much cheaper than $36k. The bottom line, and we all talked about it many times already, the EVs on average are considerably more expensive right now than comparable ICE vehicles (even considering savings on gas and maintenance).
  5. The cars that bring that average above base price of Bolt are bigger and better than Bolt. Bolt starts at $36.5k. For that money one could get for example loaded CX-5 Grand Touring which will be miles better car than Bolt.
  6. Like my colleague said when a company offered him a job in CA some years ago, the salary was almost 1.5 times he was getting in PA but he would need at least 2 times bigger salary just to maintain same living standard as here.
  7. Not surprising about German cars but I am surprised about few Lexus models Cars and SUVs With Highest Repair Costs - Consumer Reports Consumer Reports analyzed estimated repair cost data from RepairPal AC Compressor Replacement Alternator Replacement Fuel Pump Replacement Serpentine Belt Replacement Starter Replacement Suspension Shock or Strut Replacement Timing Belt Replacement Water Pump Replacement
  8. I take a personal offense to that sentence Otherwise, maybe in 4-5 years Mach E will complement nicely my real Mustang.
  9. @dwightlooi Exactly. There is a good reason why very expensive German sedans loose over 60-70% of their value after 3-4 years. They are great when you are leasing them and that's about it. You have CPO and probably will replace it before the warranty expires, but I wouldn't come close to those cars no matter how good the deal is.
  10. Until he needs to repair something on it, which he will.
  11. @surreal1272 No one wants more coal power plants. However, need to look realistically how to replace old power plants with renewable sources. For example, NJ nuclear power plant has an output of 1172MW. The average wind turbine has an output of 1.67MW. So for NJ to replace our old nuclear plant will require 702 wind turbines. Another calculation is that per some regulations with the allowable space between wind turbines it comes out to 10MW of wind power per square mile, meaning NJ will need 117.2 square miles of wind turbines to replace one nuclear power plant. Just putting things in perspective.
  12. NJ renewable source of electricity is only 5% at the moment. Most of the electricity (over 90%) comes from natural gas and nuclear (about half and half). I think there is a plan to build wind farms of the shore but it will be awhile till they come online IMO.
  13. Electric bikes are biggest scam ever (and I mean people fooling themselves). You either work and pedal or buy electric bike to ride around.
  14. Also, the manual transmission was great too.
  15. 1996 Mazda MX-6 with almost 100k miles. Drove it till it hit 200k miles (which took less than 4 years). It was a great car, but not for tall people.
  16. None. If you see something you like, especially at a better price, go get it without hesitation. I learned when I was looking for my car, good deals don't last very long.
  17. My wife gets to do it at least once a week as a health worker. Gets old pretty fast.
  18. Mach E range test. Not great but not bad either, he got about 250 miles with regular driving. But that was at average ambient temperature, not too hot and not too cold.
  19. Guys, lets keep at least this website clear from the politics. I get enough of that sh@t everywhere else. Plenty of other subjects to get on each other's nerves
  20. Personally, I think Telluride is ugly, it might be a good family crossover but I think it is overhyped.
  21. Looks wise new Jeep has way more presence and more cohesive design IMO than XT6. Everything else I would need to experience myself.
  22. People were saying exactly same thing when Porsche made their first Cayenne. Now Lamborghini and Aston Martin making crossovers as well. Personally, I am not happy they will be using names like Corvette or Mustang for crossovers, and yes here is naming not the same as Porsche or Lamborgini is using. But for GM and Ford Corvette and Mustang represent almost like a separate brand. If selling those crossovers will make sure GM and Ford continues making sports cars like Corvette and Mustang in the future, same way Porsche, Aston Martin and others are paying for 911s and such, I am ok with that. That is today's reality, the majority of people want practical vehicle and spending a lot of money on development of low volume sports car becomes harder and harder. I would rather see them sell Mustang crossovers and make real Mustang pure sports car that associates less with rental low end Mustang.
