  1. It's called squeezing every last dollar out of a product.
  2. how about normal color names, like black, blue, green? Nah, marketing would never go for it...
  3. +1, the new front bumper pushed it more toward "boring small car" looks and away from the retro that makes it halfway interesting.
  4. Those wheels look like ugly cheapo aftermarket wheels... yuck.
  5. This is the dark side of having a "family face" to a brand. Putting a similar to the Malibu face on this car probably just badly hurt the Malibu's image. It's hard to buy a Malibu & think you have a nice looking car when it looks kinda like an Aveo...
  6. Well, it says in bold they will pay you "110% of current fair market trade value." That comes to, what, $110 instead of $100? j/p
  7. They don't care what kind of car you have - they just want you in the dealership to try to sell you something.
  8. I'm curious... what do they expect Land Rover to build? Small economy cars?
  9. I can believe that the majority of people with sludge issues may have contributed toward it with lackluster maintenance, but to say that it accounts for every single occurrence seems like a stretch...
  10. Just to make sure the argument dies, I looked up "revenue" on wikipedia & copied the first part of the definition:
  11. the Volt architecture lends itself to be easily set up with a fuel cell as an electricity source. Specifics of what models will be offered haven't been really confirmed - the statements I've seen all have disclaimer-like statements. The main thing they seem to be pushing for with the Volt is a solid plug-in hybrid.
  12. Personally, I'd take a much lesser warranty if it were accompanied by a much lower price. Oh, wait, that's why I buy used...
  13. A strong rebuttal, but it's almost an apples to oranges argument. Each one may be better for different consumers depending on their intended use for the vehicle...
  14. I believe they have home electrolysis stations for filling up.
  15. PurdueGuy replied to Intrepidation's topic in The Lounge
I usually drive around the potholes...
  16. Basing manufacturing costs off of aftermarket nitch low-production conversion kits... brilliance.
  17. If they're not going to greenlight it until they're convinced that they'll do well here, will they even decide that by 2011? GM, make and sell one well-done model and test the waters yourselves - don't wait for someone else to do it and be successful. Take a risk (though please do it wisely, and not half-effort...)
  18. Only mac that has appealed to me much yet is the mac mini, and that's just from a daydreaming about doing a car computer standpoint. Though I must admit, my preference for windows comes both from it being what I'm used to, and that while I was a Purdue student I was able to get a lot of microsoft software for $5-10 apiece, including windows. I build my own compys, so once the software expense is pretty much nil, it's hard to beat the price.
  19. Insight got axed... 2 years ago? Accord either got or is getting axed, I believe. Just leaves the Civic.
  20. Killing GMC would be an absolutely stupid idea. Lutz once stated that the average Denali buyer has a higher income than the average Escalade buyer. GMC costs practically nothing in development (chevy + features & mild restyle) and commands a premium CONSISTENTLY and ABUNDANTLY. Getting rid of that would be absolutely stupid.
  21. Light weight... good fuel economy for its size... If it weren't for the 6cyl being difficult to do some of the maintenance on and the early year electrical bugs scaring me, I'd consider one for a nice daily driver... after the redesign the sedan looks really sharp in black.
  22. Yes, the EV-1 had regenerative braking - one of the MANY breakthroughs that it brought about, and make any modern electric or hybrid vehicle at all feasible. Toyota can try to convince everyone about how far ahead they are, but they weren't first to market (Honda was first modern hybrid), and 99%* of the technology didn't originate with them (see EV-1). *keep in mind that 72% of all statistics are made up on the spot...*
