  1. I also saw a new Avalon...I'm so out of touch with new cars that I at first thought it was some kind of late-model Jaguar. Not a bad looking machine.
  2. Thanks to everyone for putting up with my geekiness.
  3. A solid, clunk-free front suspension under my Malibu.
  4. We have a Lenovo laptop, can't remember the model. It's been a great machine.
  5. It did sound pretty decent...dude wound it up tight in first, though I'm not sure why, as there was another car in front of him. Car looks really nice in person (still haven't gone to the stealer to look yet).
  6. One of the current models. It was a black R/T, covered in salt from the craptacular streets we have here after our 20" snowfall last week (4" more expected tomorrow). Even got to hear it, as the dude took off from a stop sign. Nice to finally see one in the real world.
  7. Kind of a sad old Clipper. Someone had reuppholstered the interior with cheap @ssed vinyl. Depressing.
  8. This is really cool, or so says I...a 1970 Chevy K20 powered by the 292 inline six! What a torquer. When I was still farming with my dad, we had a '70 K20, but ours had the 350 V8 and auto trans. It had great scoot but I always wanted the big six. It seemed so "trucky".
  9. OK, let's see if this works. I scanned a page of my '75 Olds brochure, showing the 88 specs:
  10. I was thinking more that it had originated down below... ...but appearances can be deceiving.
  11. The pix came through just fine...thanks again! When I was still farming with my dad, we had a 1970 K20 CST pickup. That fire dept. truck reminds me a lot of our old beast (though ours was the "styleside" with a full box).
  12. AHAHAHA! I remember thinking that a urinal flush was the same volume as the 232 six in one of my AMC Gremlins. Let the hilarity ensue.
  13. So we know that at least two different versions of the 1975 Olds borchure got published. Haven't been able to post the scan of my copy yet because our home internet is down. I should look for a publishing date on it and compare with the one over at oldcarbrochures.com. Curioser and curioser.
  14. That stepside pickup is fantastic! Thanks for the pics.
  15. Fantastic pix, Oldsmoboi! On edit: Drove to the Twin Cities and back over the weekend. Like the rest of youse, I keep my eyes peeled for interesting vehicles. I *still* haven't seen a new Dart on the road. But I did see an early 1960s Peterbilt COE!
  16. Hmmm...I looked at the copy of the '75 Olds brochure on oldcarbrochures.com, and they don't mention the 400 V8 in reference to the 88 models (but there is mention of the 400 4V for Custom Cruiser and 98). But my copy at home does show the 400 2v as an option for the 88s. I should see if I can scan the page and post it. Here's the online version: http://oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/Oldsmobile/1975%20Oldsmobile/1975%20Oldsmobile%20Full%20Line%20Brochure/75%20Oldsmobile%20Pg%2017.html
  17. Ya know, I had the same thought back when the supersized Mopar minivans came out for 2008 in "Grand" form only...they coulda kept the outgoing SWB model in the lineup under the Caravan nameplate--or how about Voyager! Even with the welcome changes to the current toaster-styled minivans, the previous generation *still* looks better to me--especially the shorties.
  18. Good ol' Quadrajet! ...and it was a Pontiac 400, correct?
  19. I was paging through the 1975 Olds brochure and read about engine options for the full-sized cars. What grabbed my interest was that the 88 showed a 400 V8 with >>2V<< carb as an option (along with the 455 4V) of course. For the 98, the 455 V8 was standard, while a 400 with a >>4V<< carb was an option. I think there was a thread sometime back about the 400 V8 option for the '75 Olds was a Pontiac mill...but I was surprised to see that the 88 version had a 2V carb, while the 98 version had a 4V. Of course, it could be a typo in the brochure (though it was repeated twice, once under the 88 info, and then again under the 88 Royale info). I am a geek.
  20. Never was too nuts about this color:
  21. Yeah, I've popped in from time to time. I'll remind some of my gearhead friends again. ...and done.
  22. I walked up on one of those Subaru XVs and had no idea what it was. Kind of a sharp vehicle!
  23. OK, sorry I blew up. I think what turned me off was the Honda Element-esque front end. Don't get me wrong: knowing what I do now, I may start "liking" the vehicle (CNG, accessibility, U.S. made).
  24. I didn't know that turds could be rectangular until I saw this thing. It really is like a magnified Honda Enema--something that should never, ever, EVER be magnified.
