Happy Birthday to Sixty8 and Dsuupr!
Hey, Pantho, have a great birthday! You've got vintage iron to celebrate. Hey, dsuupr, have a great birthday as well! You've got a new job to celebrate. BTW, I passed by "your exit" on I-5 driving from Portland to Salem on Easter Sunday to go to some friends' house for dinner.

Gas prices impacting your driving habits?
I used to psychologically squeeze by at $ 2.99 a gallon. Now, it's clearly above $ 3.00. It has definitely changed my driving habits. I was never a lead-foot to begin with, but now I am more cognizant about my RPMs...I try to keep them nice and low at cruise. But, more so than this, I noticed I am driving less...by just not going somewhere or grouping errands. The reason I think about this is that it is really $h!ty for the economy. Malls, restaurants, dry cleaners and such depend on you getting into your car as much as you did before to keep their business operations on par with previous years. You know that people are driving somewhat less and merchants are paying the price, while oil companies and related industries are benefitting. Disturbing...to me, at least.

Happy Easter to the members who celebrate it
Boa sorte pela sua examen!Guess what, guys, went to the restaurant Friday night with my Mom and they had up on the chalkboard: SHARK! Normally, it is delicious when prepared correctly. At this restaurant, it was AWFUL. Should have ordered the salmon...it was up in the NW, after all.

PICS of my new Pontiac Grand Prix GXP
Voila! Les fotos sont ici! J'ai retourne' hier de Portland ou j'ai vu beaucoup de Subarus pleines de femmes avec les cheveux courtes....vous savez cette espece. Ok, back to the car. The pic I chose above is very flattering to the coupe-like styling despite being a sedan. That dashboard kicks ass. I've rented at least 10 of these, so I've sat behind that dash for at least 7,000 miles and I like it! Had a rented Monte Carlo for the weekend...still don't know what the hell to do. CONGRATULATIONS!

How quiet or "refined" is your engine?
For its 15 years and 234,000 miles, my 3800 Series I is quiet. It was extremely quiet during the first 100,000 miles, but now is a little less so. This engine, for some reason, tends to "appear" quieter when put into Buick and Olds products...it's probably the level of sound dampening. BTW, are the 60 degree V6 families put out by GM supposed to be smoother and quieter? That's what one post above infers.

Looking for a new car in about 6-12 months...
Of those choices, I voted LaCrosse CXS since you like the S. The Aura may seem cramped for someone your height. I felt cramped. The Malibu will be an all-new model, plus it's on the Aura chassis, I believe. Wait the extra year or two, but it sounds like you need it now. The Lucerne...I think you're too young for it, though that hasn't stopped Fly and 98 from going "boulevard." The Accord...that would make you a "Benedict Arnold" on this forum. You know what they say about returning to "first impressions," be it a multiple choice test or whatever.

Happy Easter to the members who celebrate it
Hey guys: For those of you who celebrate it, have a great Easter Weekend. For the "mackerel snappers" in the bunch (derisive name for Catholics), remember it's Filet-O-Fish for lunch....just that 1 day a year....c'mon, we'll get through it. Sure would like to find a nice juicy broiled shark steak for dinner, though. Leave for Portland tomorrow and come back down Sunday night. My Mom said she won't be cooking any of the 3 days and, for Easter Sunday, these friends of hers who transplanted up there from LA within the last 6 months invited us to eat at their place. What are C&Ger Easter plans?

Why are you where you are?
You might surprise yourself. I picked up and moved to ATL from the cushy comfort of my parents' home in LA a few years after college and made a go of it. I then returned out West (to Portland) to be near them and wound up leaving again, this time to Northern Cal. Could this have some meaning?

Why are you where you are?
How many other "mistakes" are there in your family?

Do you make waves....
I am in one of those deals right now. Bad service couldn't be taken care of locally, so rather than 'eff with it with a regional manager, I am taking it up with a name I found on the corporate web site for the NY-based headquarters. My friends love my "poison pen" letters, as they call them. They are very diplomatic and professionally written, but they have an "edge." Therefore, they come to me when they want help writing one. I have written about 7 or 8 of them in my life, and in about 3/4 of the cases, the "big bosses" rectify the situation in my favor. I'm not a TOTAL jerk. I have also written about 4 letters to companies praising them for excellent service or an excellent product. If you don't stand up for yourself, nobody else will. So, are you one who takes issue with bad service? All the way to the top?

How long do you keep a new vehicle?
Times 6 = 12 years....AT LEAST I've only bought new once and it's coming up on 15 years, next month! This way, the fact that a car depreciates so much when you drive it off the lot becomes a non-issue. If you take REALLY good care of it and if you start out with a LONG-LIVED powertrain to begin with, making a dozen years and 200,000 miles should be no problem.

I'm catching up to you, 76CT. 234,000 miles and she will be 15 y.o. on May 16th! No oil consumption in between oil changes, either.(In some Hispanic cultures, she's ready for her "quinc-anera" or however that's spelled!)

~ EARLY BIRTHDAY PRESENT ( to myself )
Hey, Pantho, happy early birthday Buick to you! Tell us about the powertrain!

The Park Avenue is back... Seriously... Just not for us!
The vehicle silhouette I see in the first post is both ugly and generic. Kudos to the Lucerne, at least it doesn't look like anything else!
