  1. The ads are alluring in a way. I'm not sure they sell the car. (Nice to know they are being loyal to a demographic segment of their buyers). I think the tag line is terrible. While it doesn't need to be as baroque as "Standard of the World," it does need to be something more enduring. If GM's divisions are awakening from some type of slumber, the effort needs to be synergistic and they can't blow it with dumb-ass tag lines.
  2. Where did you get that? Magazine or chop? By who? That's an impressive and tasteful vehicle. Foreign manufacturers: RUN !
  3. It's like the opening sequence from "Beverly Hills Cop," the original. Good God...would anybody want to live there? Obviously, the auto execs have to live somewhere nice, but it isn't within the city limits. I think that if I could tolerate cold, I could do Toronto, but NOT Detroit.
  4. Architect?Secretary? Something else?
  5. resignation (better than a dismissal)
  6. It's that goddamn PhD program...blame it on that!
  7. Toyota Corolla...stripped down. One fine day, I am driving into the SF area on the Bay Bridge. After passing the toll booths in Oakland, I start picking up speed to make it up the east span of the bridge. There are 5 lanes on top and 5 lanes going the other way below. I am going about 62 and, at mid-span, I have to brake for the Toyota Corolla in the MIDDLE lane going 47. I go around and it is a tiny Asian girl who CANNOT see over the dash and is clinging to the steering wheel as if it's going to fall off. I honk and gesture at her and she is still hanging onto the wheel for dear life, trying desperately to look straight ahead over the dash. Annoying.
  8. I am more corteous to drivers of a car than to an SUV. Then, I a more corteous to drivers of a "regular" car than, say, a Mercedes or a Lexus. But, overall, I am a conservative driver, given that I drive a Regal.
  9. Still not quite midnight on the other coast, so Happy Birthday! Bright and early for some birthday greetings, P! :AH-HA_wink:
  10. Somehow this became an Aurora thread, so I'll chime in. I appreciate the Gen 01 Aurora but like the Gen 02 Aurora a lot better. I only wish it had retained a closer rendition of the beautiful wrap-around dash of the Gen 01 version. We can't even compare the Lucerne as being in the same ball-park. In CX guise, the Lucerne is an entry-level big car, but a very good one. The Aurora is more of a specialty touring sedan. While I like most things about the Lucerne, I don't like the seating. You can look at the seating from the window or when the door is open and see that the buckets (or the 40-20-40 bench portions) are shapeless and lacking in support. While this car should be anything but a Grand Prix, there needs to be more sculpting in the actual seats themselves to make for a better ergonomic fit and more comfort on a long road trip.
  11. They probably were...as they gladly relieved your family of a few greenbacks.
