  1. showed a lexus hybrid we had today and same comments, anyone looking at one of the hybrids new is wowed by the tech and such and will pay the price for it new, but 2nd gen and later used, people are scared of the cost of the batteries and electrics and whether those systems still work right years down the road. i think the model that takes the biggest rap is the civic hybrid. that was such a bust.....most of honda's hybrids are. there is an imbalance. the price of hybrids are too high to start and now the market is too soft on them when you trade em. it's tough to justify the first gen cost unless you simply lease. and then the second gen costs are unknown, how much do you get stuck with to fix? do you want to be a guinea pig? the prius is an exception almost. They are fairly reliable, the first cost is cheap, and the value holds on Prius pretty well. From the little bit I have seen, if you have any other hybrid besides a Prius....be prepared to lose your ass. Even though the fuel is cheaper. BTW the volt is the right idea. what chevy needs is to rush volt2 to market. 3 cylinder gas 1.0 litre. cut weight of entire vehicle to 3000 pounds or less. improve the electric side of it. get the price under 30. same size car. extend the range. they can do it!
  2. Lexus should have an ES hyrbid with a 4 cyl. I really don't think anyone wants a GS Lexus hybrid in any form.
  3. lets get some real world mpg....
  4. manufacturing defects apparently, which possibly have been corrected...... still.........
  5. f@#k the statistics go try to wedge yourself into the back seat of one. the cruze and new malibu both have deficient back seats.
  6. according to a person at one C/J shop, at least a half a dozen recently....... google 'chrysler pentastar 3.6 issues' or something like that...... more than a few threads to read...... i would probably guess they had some initial quality launch items they are working through.
  7. Am I speaking to the ever-elusive Sheridan Bucket? Are you finally home from University? i had to look that up to figure out exactly what you were smoking.......lol
  8. still fail to see the big to do over the Infiniti G........
  9. short spin.... handles really sweet. 7 speed auto, fairly responsive....still not a manual though. all in all, not really detracting from the drive much. the gimmicky nature of the shift lever is distracting though. Paddles make up for it. Size of the car is nice for anyone who doesn't carry people. Seats were comfy. Interior simple, and tasteful. I'd go for a couple inches wider and some more rear leg room. Interior not plush but in the front enough room to be sorta comfy in the excellent seats. Love the visibility out of the car. Partially this is due to the 2 door nature and lack of obtrusive pillars aplenty. Have to admit though.....the car did not feel bank vault. I would imagine the car does not lose much as a convertible in terms of strength. Pretty fun car.......... I'da liked to have seen more power but that is the what the M is for. On a pass / fail grade I give it a pass......
  10. I am appalled they would not sell it here. It would sell huge.
  11. 2.5 will do a lot for the car. turbo four will. i suspect e ASSISt on the Malibu will be like 5% of the volume. The biggest problem the Malibu has is it has no backseat.....i.e. they did not fix the problems from before...they made it worse.
  12. Not off to a good start.......... Apparently the new pentastar is not a trouble free motor......... been trying to read up on it. boss man bought a T/C off auc had about 20m on it, engine needs major work. according to a source at a C/J dealer, a lot of the new 3.6 have had expensive issues. sure hope chrysler can nip this in the bud......
  13. in theory the two have the same backseat but the regal seems to have more leg room and footspace..... GM can't build a front seat that preserves toe room for the rear to save their lives
  14. if you can compare the malibu vs. the regal if you have driven one.....
  15. 77 cutlass 2 door, the fantasy of pretty much anyone i grew with back in the day. love it.
  16. my own checking and many other places i see many gripes on rear seat foot and leg room.....please weigh in....
  17. it will be nice if the ATS is good, to have a real 3 series option so you don't have to get a trendy urban douchemobile........you can buy AMURCHAN
  18. we've got a 95 MB on our lot right now and the leatherette looks like it's only a couple years new. Leatherette can hold up quite nicely. I was kinda hoping the base base ATS would be closer to 30 than 35, but I certainly have no issues with them asking for the same price as others. At 34 though I think I'd rather see the turbo as a base mill. End of model year that base base car will have room for huge rebates when those are the only ones left on the lot. All wheel drive turbo really should get the stick too. Actually a base base with a stick would be fine for some but the turbo is not much more than the 2.5. I think it's interesting how stoic the design of the ATS is in proportions, where the XTS is very pushing the proportions into a new paradigm. The ATS has the whole long hood, upright greenhouse...the XTS is almost monoform with no hood, no trunk and is super egglike. One thing i did notice at the auto show is how deceptively curvy the ATS actually is. It's lines seem more rigid at times, but from a distance you can see the curvature in its forms you don't pick up on when it's close and your eyes are drawn to all the bling. I do hope they bring a diesel. Add stick to the 4 pot turbo. And i would do a coupe. No wagon here.
  19. oh, and to add, I am SOOOO glad I never bought a CObalt SS. No way it was worth 7k more. Yes the engine and dynamics were fantastic....but at the end of the day, it was still a cobalt......
