heck, its better looking than the civic. its got a nice warranty too. i think if they can attract even a modest percentage of the 'must have Japanese' crowd that dislikes the civic and is simply tired of the Mazda3 and loathes toyota, they should make enough sales. i just hope they put crash protection into this version.

ABS and TRAC cntrl too. and to escape an accident, to have weight on your drive wheels. which of course, mean FWD or AWD in most cases is more handy. just saying. again.

The only thing I can think of in this regard, I will go back and mention how GM was proud when the HHr came out because of the complex stamping process used on the HHR fenders. I think it was something to the effect of multiple stamping and enormous expense and quality control process that was required to get the shape and level of consistency and quality of those pieces on the HHR. It apparently was to such an expense and effort that Gm would have never considered before but with Lutz being a disciple of design and quality they were able to convince the brass that it was needed to preserve the desirability of the car and design. fast forward to Outlook, again, if we have proof that GM is willing to go to expense and effort that had not been demonstrated before, to produce a fender for a fairly cost conscious product....maybe what this says to me now that others in the industry such as Honda are seeing that GM is willing to take the gloves off in terms of sweating details they previously would not go to effort on. And if it gets to the point where Honda etc. takes notice that GM is going to start to take the gloves off with all their products....that might be what has them worried. they may be worried that GM will no longer always dumb it down and give the hondas of the world a free ride to the top.

toyota has 3 brands and has not been as global as GM. GM has many brands and several operating units worldwide. Until recently, crash needs and vehicle packaging were so different on different parts of the globe, it has never really needed to be standardized before, globally. This is just another Toyota is God article. And its not. I should have ordered a happy meal for the writer of this piece of crap. This is about as useless at Robert Farago.

as far as I have seen from real world posters on the 500, the AWD and FWD get the same mpg. Many of the cars with on demand light duty AWD get close to the same regardless.

reuters this is so excessive, no frickin way i shop at home depot much anymore. Good thing lowe's is closer to my house. It's not has base salary I take issue with, its the severance package.

get a clue. go talk to any dealer who sells cars in winter climates. AWD is needed as an option. RWD only immediately reduces your potential buyer base significantly because they can get other competitors cars that do have it. In this price range, it would be inexcusable to not offer it. The Seville / STS used to be a huge seller here. it doesn't sell here anymore because the AWD option on the STS is rare and expensive if you find it. Yet, tons of Devilles / DTS Just about every new G35 or IS / GS and many of the 3 series and C class that sell around here have the AWD badges on them. As far as Audi goes, i'd bet 90% of the Audis that are on the road here are Quattros.

AWD is needed if its a RWD chassis for the northern climes.

the point of the article is fine, but the question is, is it worth it to pay some lame-o like this to waste time (that could be better utilized solving world hunger, or conversely, cleaning the toilets at my house) writing another entire article about this? Especially since the bent of the article in the end is just to rip on the domestics again and put toyota on a pedesfukkingtal? Have we not already seen 2,094 articles about this? Why can't we have equal time, 2,094 articles about engine sludge or truck suspensions and chassis failing so you can't stay in your own lanes? Jesus Christ. If we really need to pay some lackey to write another article like this, which accomplishes nothing at this point, and says nothing new..........dammit. The gist of the article could be covered in about 3 paragraphs and with one illustration. But you gotta fill copy, I guess. Why can't we have an article about how McDonalds and Burger King save big dough making burgers on an assembly line and saving big bucks? HUH? yeah, then they could write about what I experienced about a week ago at McNDons. I am in the rest room, washing my hands. Worker dude comes in, takes a dumpola. and then leaves without washing hands. A few minutes later, i am ordering food for my family, and guess who is on the burger assembly line......REST ROOM DUDE!!!!!!!

Fullsize P/U Comparison: Toyota vs. Chevy vs. Nissan
regfootball replied to Variance's topic in The Lounge
we all knew it would be written this way. don't worry, C/D and M/T will say the same thing. Thank God for popular mechanics. oh wait, toyota will wire them some dough too. its all offset by the fact the turdra is uglee. -
i guess harry traded the maxx for an xb.

that rear shot looks like the new Lancer to me. the dash says Aveo meets Saturn Outlook, with a hint of VW. The door panels say Opel vectra or 2008 Saturn Vue. the exterior I think is a response to try to be as sporty as a BMW. It looks ok to me, just not very affluent like Mercedes typically does. The interior does look cheap in the photo. Odd that they would go this direction. Of course, the 3 series interior is cheesy too. Did the Germans get to the point where they have to cost cut interiors now? Perhaps. Well, the CTS I think presents itself much better, at least in photos. I think actually if the mercedes grille was half the size it would look way better.

which is why AWD should be optional.
-
very nice truck, blu. i love the color and the grille is very menacing. Perfect truck for you, I think. Wheels are nice also. way to go!

on star rocks

the next gen corvette would have a new chassis. the xlr shares the vette's architecture. that's how they could justify the xlr.

wish the saints would have gotten in. otherwise it should be a good tilt. i really want the colts to win. i pretty much have loathed the bears for like 33 years, since i was 5 i think. Plus i really think Tony Dungy rocks! He's not a great big game coach but this is his change to erase that. I think the Colts will try to massacre Grossman. Manning vs. Grossman. It would be pathetic if Manning loses to that guy.

my dad was in the farm implement business for 40 years. fixed stuff for like 15 years. sold it for the rest of time as well as general managed. we're not always talking 25k transactions. those are small. sometimes half a mill changed hands. the business went under due to new ownership so he had to look for a job. He tried selling cars for a few months and said 'fk this'. He had problems with the ethics of it....he hated his sales managers etc. Its a fairly stressful gig. Maybe buickman can lend you some advice here......

the next STS and DTS here should be the same car basically. One tunes for high perf, one for high luxury. the styling should be palatable for both. Kind of the way the Seville used to come in SLS and STS versions. It should be a large car. I'd bet you big time that if they updated the USA STS like the chinese one (more room and nice interior) it would sell a lot better. Plus, they don't even really advertise the STS anyways. The STS would be a the perfect car for my dad, he's like 66. He likes the current CTS and doesn't really want the formal looking DTS anymore.

our country has become so polarized and niche marketed, politically. just like the auto industry. and it only serves to divide up the country. Its impossible to come up with any candidates that don't offend the masses. its time we had volume sellers again. Cars like the late 70's caprice. everyone bought them. politicans with universal appeal who can unite people. I'm tired of all our fractioning in this country. Bill Clinton was probably the closest thing to someone having universal appeal, yet he was equally offensive to diehard conservatives.

one of my long time acquaintances, who is universally panned by many of my other acquaintances as a loser, has all three of those bases covered very well. He still has like a 91 beretta. And the movie 40 yo virgin is like his autobiography in many ways. Yet, I think he's a good guy. He'll make up for it with a few breaks. Besides, who cares what others think, anyways.
-
i say go the other way. refine the HELL out of the XLR, soften the creases, and put an optional v12 in it.
-
yup. agree. folks in the snow climates LOVE the FWD too. They should make AWD standard on the DTS then.
-
all i can say is if Gore ends up in this, it will be sad. gore, kerry, edwards, is that all they can muster?

oh fly, you are a marked target.
