  1. I had a 97 with that problem - fixed it by replacing with an '07...no wind noise right up to 95 mph!!! I used to use that as my guide to tell me how fast I was going - in the new one I have to read the damned gauges!!! :AH-HA_wink:
  2. I am not going to piss up anybody's rope - but I really want to know what the excitement of the Z71 package is? I drove an '06 - about 15 feet...it rode terrible! I could not stand it for more than 5 minutes before my brain cried 'stop!'. Don't get me wrong - I loved the look...but the ride and drive left me wanting a lot. That was my main fear of the 20-inch wheels on the '07, but it rides NOTHING like the '06 Z71. Smooth and composed is all I can say about the 07. I have seen a lot of low mileage Z71 Tahoes and Burbs on the lots around here...all traded on 'lesser' models due to the ride. That is not to say that the dress up stuff that was described in the above release does not interest me...gotta have me one of them platinum skidders and that grille sounds cool too.
  3. There are farmers getting paid to not produce anything - and it is sickening. What I had tried to say is this: Get the farmers to produce what we need to make the Ethanol AND feed the world - which is easily done now with today's farming methods and technology - and quit paying them to do nothing. Use the funding for subsidies for other projects around the country. If the corn is being produced by the farmers - and the market needs it for food/ethanol/cattle feed - whatever - then they will actually make money doing what they want to do - which is farm! In order to get this demand up - we need cheap ethanol versus regular unleaded, which will in turn drive demand for new cars that will burn the CHEAPER and BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT ethanol and quit pouring money into the Arab Nations. I am all for that. But I am not going to drive 30 miles out of my way to buy Ethanol ( we have 1 station here that has the E85 ) when I am not really saving anything. I want our dependence on foreign oil to end and watch the middle east start to pick on the other countries that are 'stealing their wealth' and leave the U.S.A. alone! My plan does three things: People buy US built cars and trucks due to the availability of E85 at a cheap price so that Farmers are selling their crops instead of living off of subsidies to not grow anything, thereby ending the subsidies and turning the US Auto industry, the oil industry, and the Ag industry around...and it gives those weenies in the Toyota Prius less to whine about...so I guess that is four things... Am I that far off base???
  4. Yeah, mine is an E85 unit and the 4x4 LT3 with everything but autoride, which is only on the LTZ. Which you know as you are a dealer. The flip and fold is odd that it will try it with a human in it...I do worry about that with the kids...i.e. somebody in the 3rd seat decides to press the button on the person in the second row...that could be an 'ouch'.
  5. I want to say that I have no 'rants' on the 07 - all Raves so far, but thought that this would be a great place to open a discussion for other members to learn about the new Tahoe/Yukon/Escalades. Help the General move some inventory with some facts that people are not learning in the current advertising ( which is dismal by the way ) Let me start by saying that we are having a snow storm here in Iowa this morning. So I got to drive the Tahoe on Ice this morning. It was unbelievable - even with the 20-inch wheels. The Stabilitrak really does everything to keep the truck pointed straight, the anti-locks work quietly and less obtrusively that the previous trucks and the thing handles like it is on rails on the ice. The drive felt like the roads were dry versus the ice I was actually on. Turned the TC button to the off - she drives like our '95 - spin 'em if ya got 'em. So a marked improvement has been made over the previous trucks. Mileage in 4x4 was 15 running E-85. Now, the heated washer fluid we have been hearing so much about in the Buick commercials...well, it is on my Tahoe. I thought WTF? Why? Well, after driving a bit in the snow and sleet, some build up started to form on the wipers...pushed the button and the system melted all of the build up off of the wipers and the left side of the windshield. Pretty cool now that I tried it. Glad it is there. Power flip seats...cool now that I realize that putting the kids in jail - the third seat - is as easy as pushing a button. So I like them now. There are little things everywhere - like the auto start that automaticly heats your seats when the temp is below freezing...the quick tap to change lanes and the signals blink a few time to warn others...the one touch open and close of the sunroof...neat little things that I find every day. So, let's hear some other opinions on the new Tahoe/Yukon - or if you have questions - post them here. I am out to beat the drum to help the General move these things...they are too damned good to pass over while looking at other cars/trucks.
  6. I wanted to say that - with all of the cars - GM needs to focus the advertising on the features...like the new Tahoe adds that show the seats moving, the back-up camera...the stuff the truck actually does...and they need to do it accross the board - Many people are buying Toyota's for mileage when Buick's actually get BETTER mileage than the Avalon. Many people do not know any of the features of the Lucerne - like heated AND COOLED seats for instance. The word is not getting out to the public and this bothers me. I am not hyjacking the thread, but I bought an 07 Tahoe - and to tell you this truck is lightyears ahead of anything the GM has ever offered is an understatement...and that word is NOT getting out. Please GM - Hire a decent Ad Exec that will tell the people what the cars are about - this is what is making Buick a slow selling brand. People do not know about them.
  7. well, the mileage has been 15.9 in mixed driving on the first tank of gas. I filled it yesterday with E-85 to see how it runs or if I could detect a difference. Truck runs great with the E-85, but have noticed a mileage drop since I put it in - which they tell you in the manual will occur. My question is: Why will I use the E-85 and loose mileage when I am only saving 5-7 cents a gallon? If the government wants us to jump to E-85, then they had better be getting the subsidies that they are paying to mean something - say - we are buying E-85 at $1.00 less per gallon than Regular Unleaded. I bet a lot of people would go out and replace a lot of cars and trucks with new cars that will run the E-85. PLUS - you will see E-85 demand go UP - thereby offsetting the subsidies and then making it a profittable product. It is a win-win - the automakers with the New cars that run the flex-fuels will sell a whole slew of cars that the consumer's want and need to get back into the $1.00 a gallon category - everybody profits. After typing this, I can see that all I am doing is beating a dead horse.
  8. Actually - I went to the DMV yesterday to get the plates taken care off off of my 97, and came out to find two cops crawling all over it. I have had a lot of people checking it out and oh's and ah's whenever I stop. I have only seen two on the road around here - one the day I bought mine and one yesterday on a test drive...so they are not as popular as the sales are suggesting ( there have been 8 delivered to the bigger dealer here in Cedar Rapids, but have not run into one on the road. ) The dealer that I bought mine from has had 6 - I bought #4. They are selling quick, but just not a lot out on the road that I have seen yet. As far as the seating is concerned...the third seat is useless and I will be taking it out so that I have the flat load floor. I miss the 'Burban for the extra length behind the seats, but we never filled her up like we should. The Tahoes make sense around town and when alone or just a few of you. Plus I can still comfortably seat 7 in the Roady and light the tires when need be.
  9. Yeah, I know them 1 touch sunroofs to be the norm over most of the industry - but GM has steadfastly remained in the 'hold the button school' for way too long :banghead: !!! This was a pleasant surprise for me, that's all. Yeah, for a while I had two Roadmaster Wagons, a Suburban, a Yukon and my Corvette. People were wondering why I needed so much car. Like my mom said: "You only got one butt, why you need so many seats?"
  10. If GM would get off thier asses and build the Kappa Nomad, I would be torn on buying that or the Camaro...or have to get both...but I will not even consider the Kappa Stingray. All I see is a rebadged Solstice. Yuck. BIG WASTE OF ENGINEERING RESOURCES
  11. by the way caddycruiser: I see you like 'em big. Me? 1995 Roadmaster Wagon LT1. '07 Tahoe, 1995 Yukon, 04 Corvette ( it is bigger than it looks - as far as garage space is concerned )
  12. Probably should not have said that the 'ol trucks (previous gen) were all that bad, just probably overly excited about the quality in the 900's. I still would like to have an '04 or '05 for the wife. They were not that bad - just a little long in the teeth. I almost bought an '06, but the deal was better on the '07. Anybody notice that out there...dealers have an '05 on the lot that will never move because the incentives are better on the '06...so the dealer has to wait for a cash buyer or is stuck with it unless a super sucker comes along...the factory should help the dealers out and get the old units moved before hyper incentives show up on the new stock. RANDOM FEATURE UPDATE: Just drove my Tahoe...You are not going to believe this one: Sit down...ready? The Sunroof has a 1 touch open and CLOSE feature...ONE FREAKIN' TOUCH! You hearing me? The damned thing closes at the TOUCH of a button...no more holding it in...just tap and it goes!!!! Can you believe it? I almost pulled over to cry. The Lawyers missed that one... :duh: oops. Shouldn't have mentioned that.
  13. :ohyeah: Well, Saturday i picked up my '07 Tahoe and am in love. It is a Greystone over ebony LT3 with the 20-inch LTZ wheels on it. Quad buckets, nav, all seats heated. Sticker was $51,060...bought it without having to barter back and forth for $46k. With that said: This is the first GM car that I have ever purchased where I felt that I underpaid. The interior is beautiful, the controls are all really nice, with quality that rivals any Mercedes or BMW I have owned/driven. The leather feels like it will wear like iron, the dash plastic feels of high quality, and everything inside is so tight you wonder if it was assembled in Germany. The ride, even with the 20-inch wheels is smooth yet firm, with no wallow or bounce - again - like a BMW. Body roll is very very well controlled. The Nav system and infotainment system is so slick that the aftermarket is going to be pissed! It does everything that I could ever want it to, and will play almost every form of media that you can fit in the slots. Nice touches are everywhere: from the trunsignal stock that you tap up or down to switch lanes - the turn signals blink three times! Remote start the truck to heat it up and the front seats automatically come on and heat up for you. Storage inside is great - the only complaint being that there needs to be a tray off of one of the back buckets for the cupholders...to far to reach at the bottom of the front console. If they had the tray that is mounted to a seat like on the Uplanders, that would make the truck perfect. Accelleration is quick for the 5.3. Wish it had a 5 or 6 speed auto Gotta go drive it...if you do, you will immediately want one. Sorry for all of the last gen owners who are still in thier trucks after they drive this one...the old ones are really bad after you have driven the 900...really really bad.
