  1. I am a straight guy who has quite a few openly gay friends...whatever makes you happy guys. They don't get on me for my mistake of being married...
  2. This is a great story...keep us updated! This is a great story...keep us updated!
  3. He is just lucky that she did not have him "work" on a car that she accidently stuffed through a shredder because her 'senility' made her forget he was in there. As for me, aside from the diaper and bed sores...lock me in a junk yard when I get older...I will be fine.
  4. OOOH! An EXCUSE to buy that Yukon XL or Acadia you always wanted! Congratulations. I know my kids are the one ray of happiness I can count on daily...I wish you both the best. Oh, and it is now time to find that father/child project car...fyi!
  5. YES! DO IT! YES!...Screw that bondo Camaro and get working on that Trans AM.
  6. This is the problem with ANY government running ANY program - they say it will cost a buck...multiply that buck by 1,000,000. And that is not getting political and choosing a side. This was a wasteful program from the start and it was bound to have this kind of result. ALL politicians have very little real world experience so they do not understand the REAL costs of living out here in the real world. Further. they are never held accountable for these kinds of overages when they occur...it is not thier money nor does it affect them monetarily. And I really want to know where Edmunds came up with the remark about 'most of the sales would have occurred anyway' - that seems like a broad stroke of a pen to me...especially in this market. was this non-political enough?
  7. Any of the soulless generic foreign crap that people are buying in droves today. Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, Mazda, Nissan - and to an extent Honda. Not a single car any of them make tell me to even consider them for purchase. And the Donks...don't get them either, and it saddens me to see great cars that should be kept up made into rolling cartoons that you need a ladder to get into and a lifetime membership at the local transmission shop to keep those big meats turning. I Can dig a well done lowrider though - the work that goes into those cars and they care that they are given really make them rolling sculpture.
  8. It's the ones that DO give you a F^ck that are hot!!! I am currently hanging with a 22 year old (I am 37) and I have a hard time when listening to the radio and an old song from the 90's comes on...I was in College...she was in FIRST GRADE. But everything else about her is absolutely wonderful. Somebody will be a lucky man some day.
  9. THAT may be the best bit of investigative journalism ever! I actually laughed at the thought of the guy taking out a brand new Lexus and pretty much TRYING to destroy it. The brakes are DONE on that car. Pads and rotors should be pretty glazed. And the thought of slipping the trans into gear/N/R/P while having one's foot on the floor caused me a great laugh. Kudos goes out to the author on this one. If you have not read the link...it basically says you can put the car in Neutral and you can shut the car off by holding the start button for 3 seconds. Two steps that would have saved four lives.
  10. Is it time for a T-shirt program to help fund this? I wish I had the time and $$$
  11. I propose that somebody here goes and test drives an ES350 NOW and tries the tips we have learned here to see if they can stop the car. Who is game? Step 1: Throw floormats out of drivers area of car...then drive.
  12. true...and from what I read of the incident, the brakes were BURNING when they were passing other motorists on the highway. Literally people saw flames out of the wheels. That must be scary as all hell to be in a car possessed. And knowing they all died for what amounts to a $20.00 part and some seriously flawed 'engineering'. Sad.
  13. It was an out of control car...I say slam it up against the guardrail and let FRICTION stop the damned thing. I am going to see what happens on the M5 if you slap it to N or press the start button while it is moving. Be good to know if mine did this.
  14. NARF!!!!! This WOULD be fun...I have always wanted to do this.
  15. Mustang: If you are in Cedar Rapids, I can recommend Albert Auto for their service. They are usually pretty cheap, and Chad and his guys do great work. They are car guys through and through. Good luck!
  16. You are not alone...I may be worse. I keep looking for more rides the day after I buy one. Luckily, I am broke right now. Almost picked up a '41 Chevrolet last week...project car, but all there.
  17. I pushed the BEST OF button for that one...and then was given a list of other BEST OF submissions...been laughing for quite some time now...here is my current favorite: http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/nsh/1286133123.html
  18. As a manufacturer and a buyer of manufactured items - you order something and it is supplied to YOUR SPECIFICATIONS...if it is delivered to your factory outside of your specs, you refuse them. It is a simple step in the manufacturing process. If I am to believe Toyota, then I am to believe that they did not inspect a delivered FRAME to their factory 218,000 times in the instance of the Tundra. Anybody else find that hard to believe?
  19. I will get shots of the M5 that are better than what I have...it is not GM though...is that o.k.? Otherwise, a shot or two of the Slade will have to be taken.
  20. Well, You know what they say about big hands! Big GLOVES.
  21. If you have not seen the YouTube posting of James May on the U2 Spyplane...the footage and music is what we have come to expect from Top Gear. I am quite proud of the U2 program, as my uncle flew that bird as well as the SR-71...it is a rare treat to see the world from that perspective. Glad Captain Slow survived yet another challenge.
  22. I love the IDEA of a 1-series...but the price point puts it in the wrong league - and a standard 3-er is only a few grand more. I agree with you on the MINI deal...taking the pure and making it purely confusing.

    "dumb me"

Why, yes. Yes it does. What is even more scary is the fact that the car's owner cannot read PICTOGRAMS...as in a picture of a car in profile with the hood open. It does not get ANY easier than that. And this moron is piloting a nearly 4,000 pound missle without a leash! Good Lord!

    "dumb me"

I was having a really bad day at work and I received the following call that brought out the smart ass in me. The male on the other end of the phone was upset because "my little red button thingy kept catching his shirt sleeve when he would walk by!" "IT IS SOOOOO ANNOYING!" It was the emergency stop button on the front of a bread slicer with 40 reciprocating serrated razor blades in it. Has to be there. Kind of a safety thing. But Smart Ass kicked in; Me: "So it catches your shirt each time you walk by it?" Him: "Yes! And I Demand you send someone right over, o.k.!" Me: "Sir, that needs to be on there to stop the machine in an emergency - it cannot be moved" Him: "Well, can you take it off? I am tired of it nearly ripping my shirt every time I pass the machine!" Me: "Tell you what, I will save you the service call. Get yourself a big hammer...the bigger the better. Take a big swing and knock that sucker right off the front of the slicer...end of problem! It is YOUR machine after all!" <<<<DRIPPING WITH SARCASM>>>> Him: "Well, I will have to talk to the manager, I am not sure I am allowed to do 'service work' on a machine still under warranty." Me: " You do that. Tell him that you want to rip a safety device off of the front of your slicer. I am sure that will go well!" Him: "THANKS for your time." 15 minutes later, my father appears in my office, red-faced and quizzically looking at me. He asked if I indeed instructed a customer to take a hammer to his new machine. Still in smart ass mode, I replied "Well, he WAS going to check with his manager first." I was then informed that HIM was on hold on line 1...and that he had not found a hammer, but did find a two-by-four and had indeed whacked the stop switch right off the front of his machine. And he needed to know WHY it no longer worked after following my instructions to a tee. I told him he had used a two-by-four and NOT a hammer as instructed, so it would NOT be covered under warranty.
  25. Hell yes! And the sound of a V-10 under a bridge is just awesome. No tunnels in Iowa.
