  1. Well #1 I would hope that you of all people would know what size they actually are and #2 I was comparing the styling, not size.
  2. I don't know how much help I'll get, this being a GM site and all, but maybe someone has delt with Chrysler's CD Changers. I have no idea how to work it or if it even works. I hooked up the stereo and CD changer to my car today to see if they worked. The Am/FM works, but the CD player doesn't...gives a disc read error every time I put a CD in. I'm not surprised since someone stuff change in the thing. The CD Changer powers up, but all that happens is all of the lights blink. I can't insert a disc in and when I press any of the eject buttons nothing happens. Meanwhile, the stereo doesn't seem to go to CD-C mode. The same button is used to toggle between the CD player and CD-C, but I can only get it to go to CD. Any thoughts? Maybe I hooked it up wrong? Maybe It's just junk? I'm not going to be heartbroken if it is, but it woulda been kinda cool to have 4 extra CDs to choose from.
  3. Fixed. And I'm not just referring to RWD.
  4. I hope you guys are enjoying the new look.
  5. On the one hand you have to be pissed at people's blatant ignorance. On the other you have to acknowledge that Detroit did this to themselves. I mean, anyone who's ever driven or ridden in the N body Malibu knows its a pile of $h!. The last gen wasn't a whole lot better, although it was uglier.
  6. Chevrolet has just announced pricing on its new-for-2010 Equinox crossover, and it will carry an MSRP of $23,185 (including $745 destination), a handy $1,800 less than the outgoing model. That $23k and change will net you the base front-wheel drive LS model with the 2.4-liter, direct-injection Ecotec four-cylinder. The 182 horsepower engine is pegged to deliver 30 miles-per-gallon on the highway (the same figure quoted for its GMC Terrain sibling) and a further 21 mpg in the city, while the pricier 3.0-liter direct-injected V6 will yield 264 horsepower in exchange for more fuel (18 city/25 highway). All wheel drive is available, although full model and option pricing has not yet been released. Expect to see new Equinox models hitting your local dealership forecourts in June, but for now, check out the press release after the jump and click here for more info from the trucklet's Detroit Auto Show debut. Autoblog PRESS RELEASE: Chevrolet Announces Pricing For The 2010 Equinox All-new Equinox base model $1,800 less expensive than 2009 base model DETROIT - Chevrolet announced the 2010 Equinox crossover will carry a MSRP of $23,185, including a $745 destination charge, for the FWD LS model. It goes on sale this June. "Offering the fuel economy of a sedan with the functionality of a crossover, the Equinox is a superior value for our customers," said Ed Peper, GM North America vice president, Chevrolet. Chevy expects its Equinox to have best-in-class fuel economy at 30 MPG with its advanced 4-cylinder, direct injected engine. It is available in LS, LT and LTZ trim, with available all-wheel-drive. Two new engines are offered, each with fuel-saving direct injection and variable valve timing technology. Vehicle highlights include: New 2.4L Ecotec direct injected I-4 engine estimated at 182 horsepower (135 kW), which delivers an estimated 30 mpg highway, 21 mpg city (EPA certification pending) New 3.0L DOHC direct injected V-6 engine estimated at 264 horsepower (190 kW), which delivers an estimated 25 mpg highway, 18 mpg city (EPA certification pending) Driving range of more than 500 miles (800 km) with both engines, for less-frequent fill-ups Six standard air bags: dual frontal air bags; head curtain side air bags and pelvic/thorax seat-mounted side air bags Standard four-wheel disc brakes with StabiliTrak electronic stability control and traction control Standard OnStar and XM Satellite Radio "Advanced" remote starting system that also activates the HVAC system and optional heated seats depending on the outside temperature Inside, the Equinox features attention to detail, including standard tilt and telescoping steering wheel, standard driver seat power height adjustment and power lumbar, and a number of storage bins: an oversized glove box, a closed storage bin in the instrument panel above the center stack, and closed storage under the center armrest large enough for a laptop computer. "Getting best-in-class fuel economy and great storage for less than $24,000 is significant," Peper added. "In fact, the starting price for this all-new model is $1,800 less than the previous generation Equinox." While the all-new Equinox carries a smaller price than its predecessor, the list of standard content is larger - including more airbags, power lumbar support, and 17" wheels. Combine this added content with the improvements in fuel economy, driving performance and available features, and the value proposition improves even more with the 2010 Equinox. Chevrolet is one of America's best-known and best-selling automotive brands, and one of the fastest growing brands in the world. With fuel solutions that go from "gas-friendly to gas-free," Chevy has nine models that get 30 miles per gallon or more on the highway, and offers three hybrid models. More than 2.5 million Chevrolets that run on E85 biofuel have been sold. Next year, Chevrolet will offer the Chevy Volt, an extended range electric vehicle that will travel up to 40 miles without using any gas at all. Chevy delivers expressive design, spirited performance and provides the best value in every segment in which it competes. More information on Chevrolet can be found at www.chevrolet.com.
  7. Worst I got was a warning for going 40 in a 25.
  8. GMAC has loosened the purse strings, with General Motors' finance arm allocating $6 billion for auto loans for the next 60 days. The 60 day mark is critical to GM, as it is the government's drop-dead date to satisfy Auto Task Force viability requirements. The cash infusion will help struggling dealers with dried up credit channels, but it will also be used to finance cars and trucks to people with credit scores under 620. The under 620 crowd is referred to as subprime, a term that is now synonymous with the words "bailout" and "recession." Back in October, GMAC restricted lending to customers with scores over 700, and when the U.S. government provided a $6 billion in loans, the minimum score was lowered to 620. GMAC insists that the under 620 score would be approved sparingly, and buyers would still be required to qualify for financing. NADA chairman John McEleney says that the lowered credit score minimum could result in the ability to help 30-35% more Americans get into a new car or truck. And while overplaying the subprime card can lead to more trouble, at this point, the General clearly has to do something to get metal moving again. Autoblog
  9. Seems like this may be the game changer GM needs.
  10. I wonder how much better the Toyota Vibe drives than the last gen. I drove a last gen Matrix yesterday and it was terrible. The car felt very nervous and frigidity during hard stops. ABS made a lot of noise too. Hell, the old first gen Stratus I test drove yesterday as well stopped with more control.
  11. Except isn't this bigger than G8? Plus it wouldn't have to be marketed like the G8.
  12. Those were concepts, not the actual platform. The platform was developed after the concepts were shown. From what I heard, its dimensions can't be easily changed. So it would be cost prohibitive, if even possible to stretch it to seat 4 for example. Having yet another 2 seat roadster won't generate a lot of sales and create even more overlap.
  13. There's lots of problems with this idea. For one, kappa isn't very flexible. It's also expensive. Finally, even as a Chevy it wouldn't be a high volume car relative to something like the Cruze.
  14. It was an April Fools prank. Does anyone read anymore?
  15. Happy Birthday to our boldest member!
  16. I think it looks fantastic too, and I wouldn't mind seeing it n my driveway.
  17. The Kia VG Concept has been unveiled at the Seoul Auto Show and it looks... good. Nice for a concept? No, it's a veiled version of a V6-powered FWD flagship replacement for the Amanti. The Kia VG will be going on sale later this year in Korea with international distribution following thereafter, including the US. The possibility of production is revealed in its believable powertrain. The VG starts off with a 194.6 inch overall length over a front-wheel-drive platform motivated by a 3.5-liter V6 good for 277 HP, which is backed up by a manumatic six speed transmission. The car wears the now-familiar Kia grille flanked by some slightly surprised-looking headlights and and surprisingly sleek bodywork. Inside, there's a mix of concept car doo-dads and actual hardware. We're expecting the general layout to be the same in the production version, but the high tech center console and gauge cluster are not likely. Kia needs to start being more careful or they'll become a respectable car maker. Jalopnik
  18. This would so make a perfect replacement for the Impala. I mean they share design cues (out back at least). The greenhouse and body work is different enough so it wouldn't be confused with the G8. All it would need is a proper Chevy grill and not the wannabe Mercedes looking grill. Cheap, very effective replacement on a far superior platform. Of course it'll never happen.
  19. The Chevrolet Caprice may be long gone from the North American market, but in the Middle East the nameplate soldiers forth. Based on the Holden Statesman, the Arabian-market Caprice receives a host of updates for the new model year, including a 6L80E six-speed automatic with Active Select driving either 240-hp 3.6-liter V6 or 6.0-liter V8 putting out 360 ponies. The Caprice is available in several trim levels, incorporating new features like electronic stability control, Bluetooth connectivity and remote start, a handy feature for cooling down the interior after it was backing under the Arabian sun. Chevy insists that "it is indisputable that the 2009 Chevrolet Caprice is indeed one of the world's best large luxury sedans". We don't know about that, but it's got to be better than the last Caprice we had on this side of the pipeline. Read more about it in the press release after the jump and check out the images in the gallery below to see for yourself. PRESS RELEASE Chevrolet Caprice: Standing Out With Power And Luxury All-new six speed 6L80E automatic transmission with Active Select on SS and Royale Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The Caprice has long been the cornerstone of the Chevrolet brand in the Middle East. Considering its specifications, performance, driving dynamics and value for money, it is indisputable that the 2009 Chevrolet Caprice is indeed one of the world's best large luxury sedans. Chevrolet's biggest sedan now benefits from a six speed 6L80E automatic transmission and even higher specification continues to deliver a thoroughbred driving experience that is far beyond that of its peers. The SS and Royale variants receive an all new six-speed 6L80E automatic with Active Select carrying a wide 6.0:1 ratio spread improving its launch performance and covered with Aluminium case for low noise transfer and higher torque capacity. Providing a smooth launch feel, the transmission has benefited from extensive calibration work by Chevrolet engineers to balance performance with customer expectations and model requirements. A direct input speed sensor is also there to improve shift feel and smoothness. The other trims are mated to a four speed automatic transmission. Available with a 6.0 litre V8 engine on all models, which delivers 360 hp (net) at 5,700 rpm and peak torque of 530 Nm (net) @ 4400 rpm, the Caprice is genuinely capable of high performance. A 3.6-litre V6 engine, meanwhile, is available for the LS and LTZ models, and this efficient powerplant can generate peak power of 240 hp (net) at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 330 Nm (net) at 2600 rpm. The sporting SS model receives a number of additions, including high-intensity HID headlamps, remote start to cool down the interior and footwell illumination. New chrome-plated plastic interior door handles have been added to the LTZ, SS and Royale, and all models are now available with the attractive new Switchblade Silver paint. The 2009 edition of the Caprice receives a host of standard features to maintain its place ahead of its competitors. For starters, GM's state-of-the-art electronic stability control (ESP) now comes standard on the LTZ V6 variant, while Bluetooth connection for mobile phones is featured on all models from the LTZ upwards. The 2009 Caprice is equipped with a superb suspension package, which includes linear-control independent rear suspension technology to improve handling and drive. The sports ride suspension is there to broaden the car's appeal to a wide range of drivers. A near 50:50 weight distribution between the front and the rear also contributes to the feeling of a well-balanced car; this has been attained through a lower and rearward positioning of the engine within its bay, a fuel tank located underneath the rear seat passengers – which also improves safety in the event of a rear collision – and relocated battery. And large, 16-inch anti-lock, fade-resistant brakes and wheel-and-tyre packages are central to the Caprice's fundamental dynamics. The large brakes feature lightweight, compact aluminium callipers, wide pad area and large ventilated discs to reduce stopping distances by around 5 per cent. They also increase fade resistance and offer the driver a more responsive brake pedal. The Caprice's tyres have been developed to improve handling and longitudinal grip for easy acceleration and short stopping distance. The standard tyre and wheel combinations start with 16-inch on the LS, 17-inch on the LTZ and Royale models and 18-inch on the SS. 20. I'd love to see the fleet numbers on the Pontiacs. Why anyone would choose a G6 over a Malibu is beyond me. In fact why anyone would choose anything in Pontiac's besides the G8 and Solstice when GM's other bands have better versions (besides that Toyota) is a mystery.
  21. Wait for the Fiesta or buy a Fit. After all, if you buy a Vibe you're essentially buying a Toyota anyway, might as well get a better car.
  22. Although I haven't seen many G8s, the LXs are very popular in my area.
  23. Yesterday we had fun with the banners for April Fool's. However that was a precursor to grander things. Introducing the new banners and logo for the site! We wanted it to be a surprise for everyone as we continue to make improvements around the site. Feel free to check them all out. A C&G Classic 2 skin will be added featuring the old logo for those who are feeling nostalgic. Take a look and we hope you enjoy them! - Dodgefan
