Heh ... if I "blame" the internet and groups and message boards for anything ... it is for feeling "instantly connected" to just about any major incident such as this ... and wondering if people you know both personally and from online groups/boards are OK.... I first heard about the collapse on Chicago's WGN radio ... during a break in the baseball game [incidentally, Cubs won ... and are tied for 1st place with the Brewers]. I flipped the radio over to Chicago's WBBM radio ... and they were simulcasting from MN's WCCO radio. I immediately thought of our family there ... one of Dad's brothers and most of his family (including 8 kids and a bunch of grandchildren) are in the area. Luckily, nobody was in the wreckage, though one of them had driven over that section of I-35W just 20 minutes before the collapse. I then thought of a number of people I know from various message boards who live in the MN area. Hope all of them are doing well.... Thoughts/prayers coming to all those affected by this. Isn't that interesting? I'm the same way ... I don't like that style ... but, I like it as the Impala SS. Amazing what a few differences can do to make a car look different/better. Course, I loved it that the Impala featured the Impala emblem ... and was disappointed that the Caprice didn't feature the Caprice moniker. Back in those days, someone here in town bought one of those "bath tub" Caprices and replaced the bowtie hood ornament with one from an '87/'88 Caprice ... and also replaced the wheels with the wire hubcaps of the late '80s vintage Caprices as well. As I recall, he also put the Caprice emblem on the sides of the car and at least one on the back end, too. OH crud .... I just missed it! Ah, well ... I don't remember seeing signs for it, but I may've ... and just didn't realize it. I take it you are in that area, too? Heh ... today started off a bit rough: My alarm went off at 6am, and not more than 2 minutes later ... BOOOOOOMMMMMM ... SNAP/CRACKLE ... HISSSSSSS. I sat bolt upright in bed ... realizing everything electric (or so I thought) was off. I scampered out of my room headed up the steps, instinctively turning on the stairway light .... and, wala ... light. So, I turned back into my room ... and flipped some of the circuit breakers and entire house had power again. Next door neighbor heard it, too. We strongly believe it was a lightning strike between the 2 houses. Neither house looks like it has any damage, BUT....my VCR is no more, as are my stereo speakers. TVs and computers seem to be fine.
