  1. Heh ... I guess it was only a matter of time ... SPAM Emails coming to one's cell phone. I received my first such, in the form of a text message, a few weeks ago. But, today, I received 2 of them within an hour ... about 2 hours after a friend of mine received one on his cell phone while I was talking to him. Anyone else receive such text messages on cell phones? 2. As I saw the forecast for Saturday on Friday night, I realized I had several options to take advantage of the gorgeous weather ... temperatures in the mid-70s with sunny skies: ...wash/wax/clean my '87 MC LS (plan to do that next weekend) ...take my older 4 Monte Carlos out for a drive ...go to a park and walk around ...go for a mini road trip somewhere ...explore Meadowdale International Raceway Park, located at Huntley Rd and IL RT 31, just north of where I live in IL: http://www.meadowdaleraceway.homestead.com/ ...among other things.... The option that won out was driving my older 4 MCs, particularly since I haven't had them out but one time this year, 2 weeks ago. I drove each of them about 35 miles ... in about 55 minutes. It was awesome ... and reminded me how much I really enjoy them. Course ... one of these days, I really want to explore that Raceway Park, perhaps with a gathering of people ... and find a nice route to go for a long mini-road trip cruise.... So ... what about you? What do you most enjoy doing outside when the weather is incredibly wonderful? 3. This week, I wasn't able to attend the memorial service of an elderly woman I've known since 1978 ... when my grandparents moved to Batavia IL so my grandfather could pastor a church there. And, in a way, I'm glad I didn't go. Back in 1987, when my then best friend died, I was all about the memorial service. I felt the need to BE there ... and, I was. It was awesome hearing people talk about him ... and hearing stories about him that, sadly, I didn't know. I even found out that he didn't want me to know how bad his asthma was ... because of my own health issues. But, since then ... and especially in the last few years ... I've grown to dislike and not want to attend funerals/memorial services. As I've grown older, I've noticed how funerals/memorial services tend to become a reunion of sorts between family members and friends. I've also noticed how it is at memorial services/funerals that people tell others how much the deceased means to them. Both of these frustrate me just a bit. While it is fun remembering and reuniting with people ... I feel these should be done more often while people are ALIVE to ENJOY them. As for telling how much someone means to you ... well, that, as far as I'm concerned, should be done while the person is alive ... to HEAR it. *shrugs* But, even I'm guilty of not telling people how much they mean to me ... and not attending gatherings. I know some family members and even some friends I've met through various online/national groups that, most likely, do not have a clue how much they mean to me ... and who I wish I took and had more time to see them each year. *sighs* Sssoo...what're your thoughts? 4. Oh my goodness.......................I WANT that one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love that color scheme. And, maybe it's just the pic, but those headlights look like the Euro-looking ones of the '87 model Cutlass ... instead of the earlier 80s models..... 5. *chuckles* Not sure I'd go so far as to say "way better" ... but, at least the Avenger isn't using an old name and pretending to be something it isn't . BUT ... sounds as if that isn't going to be an issue ... Cobalt or Neon ... Cobalt, most definitely, would be my choice . As for finding fault ... good night shirt tail ... what do they need? A Supreme Court declaration? How could the other driver NOT be at fault? Maybe I better not ask that question, eh? 6. Eh, it was OK ... for a FWD . Actually, it was very peppy and had good handling. Course, I just love the orangish color Dad and Mom's is ... he he. As for the similarities I noticed.....it was simply a "dejavuish" experience. I knew the dashboard reminded me of SOMETHING ... I just didn't realize what until I was on the way home. Then, when I looked at the pics online last night ... I really knew. It was just weird, is all. It's not like getting into a '58 Chevrolet and "seeing" the dashboard of a 2008 Ford Taurus.............. And, another similarity I just noticed looking at the pics again: the light-colored circle in the middle of the steering wheel.... 10. ...the Chevette???!!! I had the opportunity to drive my parents' 2006 Cobalt today, since my '87 MC LS was in for new brakes and shocks. Holy crap does it handle nicely now . Anyway ... on the way to work, I kept thinking that the dashboard reminded me of something else. On the way home ... it hit me ... the Chevette. It reminded me a little of my parents' former 1982 Chevette. Hmmm...take a look.... 2006 Cobalt: http://www.automotive.com/2006/102/chevrol...or/cockpit.html 1976 Chevette: http://www.countryclassiccars.com/spcars_399.htm (2nd pic down) Obviously, it is NOT the ENTIRE dashboard ... just the vents, the "bulge" for the gauges, and the gauges (2 huge round ones on the end, a small round one at the top in between those). Interesting ... and kinda makes me wonder if this was intentional. I suspect not, but then again, I also suspect I might be the only one that notices the similarities.... 16. Hmmm...but I'm not painting it as you think I am ... I've never claimed it is a "stand alone" car ... ever. I have the same problem with the Lumina "impala" and the Toyota Nova of the 1980s, among others. It's just that the MC is my favorite car and nothing is going to change that ... and I'm not about to apologize for my tastes/likes or fact-based opinions. *shrugs* Keep in mind, of course, that my experience/opinions is based on when I grew up ... in the mid-70s ... not the late 60s. I know if I had been born earlier, my tastes may've been vastly different. But, they aren't. But, I sure wish I had been born earlier ... I would've loved to have grown up with all of those previous Impalas, Novas, Chevelles, etc. ... not not been smack dab in the middle of the turn to FWD with the Toyota Nova in the mid-1980s...... 21. If you have a decision (major or minor doesn't matter) that you need to make and you've done all of the "pros and cons" lists, etc. ... and still neither side jumps out as the "better" decision ... how do decide? What do you DO to decide? Yeah, I know "give it time" is one answer ... but, what if you feel that you don't have much time to decide? Notice I indicated "better" decision ... as opposed to the "right" decision. Many times a "right" decision doesn't really exist. Even "better" doesn't cut it, because what is "better" for you in your eyes may not be what really IS "better" for you...if that makes any sense. *sighs* Yes, I'm being cryptic and not making much sense, but I bet people know what I mean anyway.... I just have a few decisions that really SHOULD be made ... and the sooner the better. I've reviewed the pros/cons, etc., and still haven't made up my mind...one way or another.
