  1. Spotted this article today in the local newspaper (the same one that did the article on my April radio shows) about the Trolley museum: http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/courier...LLEY_S1.article Cort:33swm."Mr Monte Carlo.Mr Road Trip".pig valve.pacemaker PICS:lego.HO.model.MCinfo.RT.CHD = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort "One more sad story's one more than I can stand" ... 2. Ahhh...yes! Minor League Baseball! In our area, we have the Kane County Cougars ... and Schaumburg Flyers (though, not sure if they are still in existance). I have also attended a few games of the Jackson (TN) DiamondJaxx! 4. Hmmm...not so sure I'd be thrilled about Chevy bringing the Monte Carlo back because they need some good PR...... *pauses* I'd just like to see it come back after sssoo many years away. 5. None of my MCs are show-stoppers. Each one has "blemishes" ... scratches, dents, dings, "beauty" parts missing, etc. ... and I don't claim to keep them 100% spic'n'span clean like I should. But ... each time a new "blemish" pops up ... a little part of me cringes.... Thursday of this week, a new "blemish" for the '87 MC LS "appeared". Somewhere between home and work, the passenger-side front wheel "hubcap" came off ... the one seen in this pic: http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/newpics/DSC07667r8_jpg.html In a way, I feel lucky that I managed to go from October until May without losing any wheel covers, given the rough roads I travel between Elgin and Schaumburg. Still ... somehow, that doesn't make me feel much better ... heh. *sighs* Luckily, I have a spare cap, which I will put on at some future date, and the '87 MC LS will look more "whole" again sometime soon.... But, now I want to get a whole set ... "just in case" . Sssooo...anyone else find themselves frustratingly disappointed by "blemishes"? 6. For nearly 30 years, "play ball" on an early-May Friday night in Elgin has signaled the start of another softball season for my Dad's city softball team. Friday night, May 11, was no different. Unfortunately, Dad's team lost 20-5. Elgin Ind/Jake's Pizza started off well enough ... scoring 3 runs after 2 were out in the bottom of the 1st. But, a 6-run 4th and an 11-run 5th for the visitors wiped that away. Meanwhile, for the last few years, "play ball" on an early-May Tuesday night in Elgin has meant the start of the softball season for my brother-in-law's co-ed team. Tuesday night, May 8, they started the season with a 16-1 win. Tempco scored 2 in the 1st, 3 in the 3rd on an inside-the-park HR, 7 in the 4th and 4 in the 5th. I love baseball ... and I love softball just as much [at least in softball, errors aren't tabulated and broadcast to the world every day]. I love keeping the runs by inning, and sometimes, I'll do a little "play by play" in the stands. Anyone else either play softball or have a "team to watch" during the spring/summer/fall months or just enjoy keeping all sorts of statistics? 12. Balthazar, Holy cow ... that pic ... looks like spaghetti . Must be one heck of a neat layout! Sadly, I don't have much time for my HO scale train either. BUT ... I'm hoping to get it back up and running ... and make some more changes to the table within the next few years or so. It's one of those things (like the legos) that I love to do ... could spend hours working on it ... but, just don't have the time to devout to it like I want to right now..... C'mon early retirement . He he! 15. Sounds like a GREAT trip, Sixty8! Looking forward to having you stop by! What time will you be leaving Tulsa to head up to IL? Based on my memory of my recent western road trips, it's about a 10-hr drive or so from Tulsa to where I'm at in IL..... 17. I can understand the guy's frustration.... BUT ... mostly ... this just seems to be another example of how people are "trigger happy" when it comes to lawsuits..... It'll be interestig to see how this develops/progresses. 21. If you are at all interested in model railroading (HO scale, etc.) or railroad museums in general, check out the following links.... Valley Model Railroad Club, S Elgin IL: http://www.trainweb.org/vmrr/index.htm ...My parents used to take my sister and I here at least once a year. Each time, we'd see a slightly different layout. It was always a fun time and one that we eagerly anticipated. The drive to get there seemed to take FOREVER. Now, we know just how CLOSE it really is! Fox River Trolley Museum, S Elgin IL: http://www.foxtrolley.org/ ...I've been here a couple times ... not much lately ... but, as with the VMR noted above, is very very close. Illinois Railway Museum, Union IL: http://www.irm.org/ ...I've driven by this place a few times, but have not had the chance to actually stop and take a look. One day, I will. And, of course, my own layout: http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/collection...inRoom_JPG.html So ... any railroad museums or clubs near you?
