Why are you where you are?
Sounds like an awesome place, moltar! I know I can't live too far out in the country ... have to be somewhat close to a hospital, given my health issues. But, I know of a few areas where you can be just a few minutes from town ... and feel like you are in the country ... so, we'll see.... What are your summer plans?
Hmm...not really sure yet, though, of course, traveling is involved. I sorta described it in this thread: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=16431 But ... to repeat a bit: ...plans start developing for road trips and other forms of vacations. I haven't gotten that far yet (though it is looking like a late November trip, after Thanksgiving, through IN...KY...NC...SC...GA...FL...AL...TN etc. is a possibility, along with my annual trip to PA in August), but I discovered one place I MISSED last October, en route home from Iowa, during the last leg of my road trip ... The Field Of Dreams, from the 1989 movie: http://www.fieldofdreamsmoviesite.com/distance.html I discovered I literally drove right by it on Rt 20, west of Dubuque IA ... dangumit. Course, it gives me an excuse to go back to Iowa sometime ... perhaps this year. It'd be a great "day" trip... . Course ... also softball games ... ...and getting the older 4 MCs out . Why are you where you are?
As I've traveled, I've often wondered why people decide to live and work in the towns/cities in which they live/work. Mostly, I think about this in terms of the small "mom and pop" type stores or shops or service centers that cater to only a small geographical region. Of course, with the internet, in most cases, those same businesses can reach farther than ever before. Yet, I wonder what brought them to set up a brick'n'mortar business and home in the location they have chosen. Was the decision made because of the location of family? The location of friends? Or, was it the cost of living? The cost of doing business? Or, was it due to a particular opportunity? And, given how much I love to travel, I've wondered if people ever think/dream about moving around from town to town every so often. For those that HAVE moved around a lot ... or travel a lot ... I've wondered if they've ever thought about "settling down" somewhere in particular. *shrugs* Or, perhaps I'm odd enough to wonder about these things ... he he. Heh ... I'm not even sure I can answer any of those questions for myself ... but, what about you ... why do you live and work where you do? MCC's 85t5mcss: "IMHO the prize is the fact that u spend your time creating the trivia for us. Time is a very valuable resource and I for one am glad that u got the sampler on line. Much appreciated" TriplePlate's StephenM: "See, my thinking was if I didn't submit a response, I'd effectively have a zero. But if I submit a response, I'm likely to have less than zero. And a couple that aren't quite as flattering...
