*grins* I even have some NEW segues written.... I'll use most of the ones from last year as well. A couple of last year's segues: [Evanescence's "Bring Me To Life" in the background] ... Bringing to life more of your forgotten favorites, CD Showcase. [steven Curtis Chapman's "Dive" in the background] ... Diving into more of your favorite hits, country and otherwise, because a song remembers when on CD Showcase. Three potential NEW segues for THIS year: [statler Brother's original "Don't Wait On Me"] "When the lights go on at Wrigley Field..." ... You don't have to wait any longer for the lights to go on at Chicago's Wrigley Field ... and you shouldn't have to wait to hear your favorite mix of songs, country and otherwise ... CD Showcase [John Mayer's "Route 66" in the background] ... Getting your kicks on the airwave's nostalgic highway, CD Showcase on WRMN 1410 AM Elgin. [bryan Adam's "Summer of 69" in the background] ... Musical memories of summers and other seasons gone by, CD Showcase on WRMN 1410 AM Elgin. I mentioned I'll give the link to listen live at a later date ... I'll also give the Email address to which you can send Emails before/during/after each radio show as well . And ... if you want to participate in the trivia ... go here: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...c=15721&hl= Cort:33swm."Mr Monte Carlo.Mr Road Trip".pig valve.pacemaker PICS:lego.HO.model.MCinfo.RT.CHD = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort "Look at everything that's come and gone" ... Holy crap is that nice. Heh ... I wasn't that lucky in regards to the bills ... on any of my surgeries . I knew when I posted about this topic on this and other boards (even some of my car-related groups) that I'm not alone in these feelings/experiences. I hope I didn't offend anyone by "venting" about this ... because I know people endure far worse things in life, but ... my goodness. We're taught to make life FUN and INTERESTING ... and, quite frankly, having to deal with the health issues and everything that is involved with that (loss of vacation, bill payments, etc.) is NOT, I repeat, NOT fun. *shrugs* Sure wish we could form an "action group" of sorts to get companies to change their vacation/sick policies with regard to surgeries, etc. ... and maybe drive some other changes as well..... *nods* I'll give you that. I suspect some of my "shakiness" from this is that whenever something similar happens where I'm screeching to a halt, it's not like they're not going to notice the car ... my car (let's face it) sticks out in a crowd ... so, wrong or right, people will be watching me ... and (perhaps) thinking/wondering about what I was doing "other than driving" ... if that makes any sense. Ah, well.... he he. Cort:33swm."Mr Monte Carlo.Mr Road Trip".pig valve.pacemaker PICS:lego.HO.model.MCinfo.RT.CHD = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort "It's a freedom that we all want to know" ... I've had several people ask if I was going to do MC trivia again. I wasn't sure since it is a lot of work to coordinate between the various boards, keeping track of the answers and scores, but the fun of it outweighs the "work". Sssooo....in the spirit of former contests (MC Jeopardy!, Knight's Challenge, MC Express) ... this is MC Sampler! Items 1 and 2 are "Jeopardy!" style; Items 3 and 4 are "Wheel Of Fortune" style; Items 5 and 6 are Visual Multiple Choice. PRIZES: One reason I wasn't sure about doing a contest again is because I'm not sure what the individual prizes will be. If you have a suggestion, let me know. In the meantime, I'm considering the "prize" for the winning boards/forums will be free advertisements during my April radio shows...we'll see. RULES: This is first and foremost a FRIENDLY competition. Any and all concerns/questions should be directed to me PRIVATELY. All ANSWERS to the queries MUST be posted IN THIS THREAD. Do NOT research answers IN ANY WAY ... remember, if you were on a game show, you wouldn't have that chance. Answer ALL questions ... non answers/no response to an Item WILL be considered an INCORRECT response. For the "Jeopardy!" Round, all replies MUST be in the form of a question. For the "Wheel Of Fortune" Round, the letters PRNDS and E, as well as MC, OA are given. If you are on multiple boards/forums, you may participate in each. However, if you are the individual winner on multiple boards, you will receive only one prize. POINT VALUES... + correct, - incorrect: Item 1 = +72, -1 Item 2 = +76, -2 Item 3 = +79, -3 Item 4 = +81, -4 Item 5 = +97, -5 Item 6 = +107, -6 FORUMS/BOARDS: Cheers & Gears (CG) ... GM Inside news (GMI) First Gen MC Club (1G) ... Monte Carlo SS (4G) 73-77 A-Body Yahoo (2G) ... Third Gen MC Club (3G) MyMonte (5G) ... 2000montecarlo (6G) Monte Carlo City (MCC) ... Knight's Club: The Monte Carlo on ChevyTalk (KCMCCT) National MC Owners Assoc (NMCOA) ... Monte Millennium Generations (MMG) MC Mailing List (MCML) ... IL MC Owners Group (IMCOG) CarNuts.us (CN) ... TriplePlate (TP) "JEOPARDY!" ROUND Item 1: This is the name given to Bobby Allison's NASCAR 1972 Monte Carlo. Item 2: This generation was the only one to offer a V8 engine in the SS model ONLY. "WHEEL OF FORTUNE" ROUND Item 3: According to dealer brochures, this feature of the 2nd generation (1973-1977) MCs, "made simple use of complimentary exterior colors". _ A S _ _ O N - _ O N E S _ _ _ _ N _ Item 4: A commercial introducing the 5th generation Monte Carlo included these lines: _ _ _ _ E _ E A _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ - R O _ N D E D _ _ N E S O _ _ _ E A _ _ - N E _ M O N _ E C A R _ O S E E M S O R _ O _ _ A M _ _ _ A R, _ _ E _ S _ O _ _ D. VISUAL MULTIPLE CHOICE ROUND Item 5: In this interior shot, what would be different on the dashboard if this had been a 1980 Monte Carlo? http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/newpics/DSC07654r8_jpg.html a ... The steering wheel center piece would have "Monte Carlo" written in script, instead of the MC emblem. b ... The center vents and passenger side vent would be "engulfed" by a woodgrain panel that runs across the length of the passenger side of the dashboard. c ... The dashboard would have a woodgrain accent strip across the dashboard. Item 6: In this exterior shot, excluding the license plate, how can one determine that this is a 1981 Monte Carlo SC and not an SC from 1982-1986? http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/newpics/DSC07692r8_jpg.html a ... The grill does not have the "Monte Carlo" script in it; 1982-1986 grills did. b ... The MC emblem is not in the grill. c ... The "Monte Carlo" script on the side panel is unique to this year. Anyone else notice how we tend to associate certain smells with people and or places/things? Sometimes, those smells that smell good to us ... don't smell good to others ... and vice versa. Sometimes, the smell is equally displeasing or pleasing to everyone. Earlier today (Saturday), my sister noted how she loves the smell of her scarf ... because it smells like the home she and her husband own. I'm not so sure I agree with her assessment, but it is home to her.... For me, I associate newly-cut grass smells with awesome summers at home while I was a kid. I associate the smell of smoke with many bad experiences. And, of course, I love the smell of cars ... old and, in some cases, new . So, how about you? Within the last few weeks, I've received communication (to put it mildly) from the local hospital that did the surgery to remove my gallbladder IN 2005. The first letter I received indicated that they had sent my bill to a collection agency for failure to pay. I combed through all of my medical bills/records ... and found NO EOB from my then insurance company, nor did I find any bills/communication from the hospital. So, I called and told them that I wanted an itemized bill. "It's on the way", so I was told. Then, the week I was at home after the pacemaker replacement surgery, I received ANOTHER letter from them. This time, it indicated that they "had not been able to reach me by phone" to advise me that I still needed to pay the bill. I called them again ... and got the same "it's on the way" story about the itemized bill. I will NOT pay this until I get that bill, despite what any collection agency threatens. *sighs* Guess I'm just sick'n'tired of being sick. No, not in the "I have a cold or cough" way ... but in the "I have a heart condition" way. Those of us who have health issues (heart or otherwise) pay for it many times over. First ... we have the issue in the first place ... and have to deal with it ... ALL OF OUR LIVES. Second ... medical bills ... and threats of collection agencies ... and red tape ... and so-called insurance. Need I type more? Third ... lost vacation and sick time for procedures. Company policies (most companies, anyway) state that sick and vacation time MUST be taken right from the beginning for ANY medical issue, such that when you come back ... you don't have much time (if any at all, depending on the policy in place) to actually ENJOY life outside of work. I'm sorry, but I can guarantee without a shadow of a doubt that, when I'm out for heart surgery or pacemaker replacement surgery, it is DEFINITELY, MOST CERTAINLY _NOT_ (I, REPEAT, NOT) VACATION ... of ANY sort. *grumbles* I better stop there.... Earlier this week, I had an "uh oh" moment on the way home. I was in the right lane of a 2-lane road and was trying to get over into the left lane. I kept checking my rearview mirror and glancing back to see if anyone was coming, but a Ford Explorer kept speeding up and slowing down such that I wasn't able to get over. In the meantime, the minivan ahead of me suddenly slammed on its brakes ... apparently because someone else had slowed down to turn right onto another street. At the time that I looked back ahead of me (I had been checking the rearview mirror), I panicked ... and hit the brakes, thinking I was going to hit the minivan. My '87 MC LS screeched to a halt (much to my embarrassment, of course) ... and I stopped well enough away from the minivan. While the "shakiness" had gone away, I was still a bit unnerved by the situation when I spoke to a friend later that night. I was convinced that I was the "bad driver" in this case for failing to watch in front of me. But, she quickly pointed out a couple of things. 1) She said that, in the times that she has been in a car I'm driving, she has noticed that, if anything, I'm an overly defensive driver ... and not very agressive. 2) She pointed out that a bad driver would've actually crashed into the minivan ... and NOT stopped before hitting it. What do you think? I mean ... I get so frustrated with myself when I have one of those "uh oh" moments. I've been rather lucky; yet, in the back of my mind, I keep thinking that someday that "inattentiveness" is going to get me in a heap of trouble in terms of losing one of my MCs to a crash ... as well as higher insurance premiums, etc. Heh ... the ironic part is that I'm always concerned about the "other" drivers ... you know the type ... the ones that are so aggressive that they race up next to you right before a 2-lane road turns into a 1-lane road ... and then try to sneak in front of you. I had that happen that same morning on the way to work ... I actually almost did hit the guy because he cut in front of me and then tapped his brakes. Grrr.... So ... what say you? When/how/where is that "fine line" crossed between being a good driver with bad luck and just a bad driver?
