  8. I'm sorry it isn't for you Camino.... You have quite a collection. Sure like that GTO ... he he he. Amending my answer a bit ... I don't think I could give up on the MCs I have currently. But, obviously, it was quite easy to give up the '97 Corsica (er, malibu) and '00 Lumina (er, mc) I bought brand new. Just not good enough for me. As most of you know, I'm currently trying to locate a winter beater of sorts. I have a few options of older cars ... an '88 MC LS, an '87 Olds Cutlass and an '80 Malibu. I'm also looking at the '06 Charger still. But, it's hard to give up the '87 MC LS as a daily driver (yes, I'd still keep it, but obviously it would "sit the winter out") because it has been so freekin' reliable. I'm afraid that if I get something else for a winter beater/trip car (if the '06 Charger becomes mine), it wouldn't be as reliable..... *sighs*
  9. *nods* Very true ... I would ... and that's what several friends (even my parents, for that matter) told me at the time. And, I am so glad I listened .
  10. *rolls eyes* Luckily, I didn't have to go to work today, so mine wasn't. But, this morning, ABC 7 showed a pileup on one of the freeways .. and amazingly, many of them were FWD. I don't understand..... I did spot one Crown Vic (RWD, obviously) and a number of possibly 4WD/AWD SUVs in the video, but most of the cars I saw were FWD (97-03 Malibu or Cutlass, etc.)..... *shrugs* Cort:33swm."Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip".pig valve.pacemaker Soon:new pics+revision = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/ "You've made a fool of everyone" ... 14. *chuckles* Everything old is new again.... But, yikes ... they do look strikingly similar, oddly enough. 16. *nods* You are welcome! Give him a few days to reply ... I know he gets busy ... especially since in the last 24 hours, I've sent you and another person to him . Oh, cool! Would love to see pics of that if he goes that route.... Hmmm...interesting. I'm not sure when those would've become available to the public, but I can't imagine that they would've come out much before 1977 ... when they debuted on the '77 MC. Although, on an MC board a few months ago, someone from overseas joined, claiming that the '77 MC stand-up emblem on his '73 was "stock". Course, we haven't seen/heard from him in a while, so who knows. Even so, I can't imagine that the '77 MC stand-up emblem would've been available in 1973 ... but, guess you never know.... *shrugs*
  17. Possible to give up cars? Sure it is. But, I don't think I could do it. I've thought about selling off the collection a couple of different times, most recently in mid-2003 when I was facing mounting medical bills from my January 2003 open heart surgery. A number of friends "stepped in" and talked me out of it. Sometimes, I wonder tho..... 18. LOL! Maybe.....
  19. Ya know ... I happened to look at the pics again when I opened this thread ... and noticed the standup hood ornament.... Any idea when that hood ornament was installed, Z? Except for the '77 edition, all of the '73-'77 MCs had a grill ornament; the 1977 MC is the only 2nd gen MC to have a stand-up hood ornament ... the very same one that your '73 has..... Hmmm...interesting .

  23. Saturday afternoon, I stopped to get gas before I left town for Freeport IL to see some friends for dinner. The gallons (after almost a week of driving) was 7.729 for $17.00. On the way back home late Saturday night, I thought about getting gas, but decided I'd just get gas today (Sunday) after I did some running around. So, today, I stopped at Walmart, stopped at a no-touch car wash to get the '87 MC LS washed, drove a bit to help dry it off a bit more, then stopped for gas. After I got back home and started inputting the figures into my "gas book", I was stunned to discover that the gallons and dollar amount were exactly the same as yesterday's ... 7.729 gallons for $17.00. And, no, I didn't stop it at $17 on purpose. As much as I keep track of facts and figures, I have never remembered what the dollar amount and gallons were from fill up to fill up, regardless of the time between fillups. Gas mileage was NOT the same, of course, since Sunday's fill-up came after a road trip of sorts (lots of highway driving) and the previous fill-up came after a week (rather, "mini" week) of driving back'n'forth to work.... Anyone else happen to get the same amount of gallons and dollar amount on back-to-back fill-ups? 24. AMEN! The themes to TV shows of the past had a character all of their own, too. The second the tune began, you knew what it was ... whether you heard it on radio or TV. These days, the themes seem (well, at least to me) to "blend in" ... and sound the same.... *shrugs* He he he...yes those "idiosyncrises" are so fun to see . 25. Congrats on the job, a-r . Oh my yes ... summer maintenance for the Elgin School District U-46. One of the chaps I worked with had a red '77 MC with swivel bucket seats.
