  4. It’s been a while since I’ve been online (if anyone even noticed…) … and much has happened in 2+ weeks…. Tuesday, 09/12 and evening of Wednesday, 09/13: I left work early on Tuesday because of a 100+ degree fever. Then, the next evening, while attempting to catch up on reading my forums after recovering a little bit from being sick, my computer crashed; not sure if it garnered a virus or spyware or was attacked by someone. I’m still looking to either get that computer fixed or buy yet another new one. Currently, I’m using my parents’ computer to catch up and post a bit …. This computer situation is VERY frustrating for me … my computer is LESS than 2 years old … the “down time” has delayed my replies as well as other things (a new trivia game, perhaps; doing some things for the MC section at ChevyTalk.org, etc.). And, of course, I miss ya’ll…. Saturday, 09/16: CHD outing in Sandwich IL. Tuesday, 09/19: I turned 33. Thursday, 09/21: My employment at the annuity call center ended! It was tough saying goodbye to coworkers, but I HAD to get out of that job. Friday, 09/22: A few friends (en route to Elkhart Lake WI for the weekend races) from CarNuts.us stopped to see me and my MCs. Tuesday, 09/26: For the first time in over 3 weeks, I was able to get my older 4 MCs out in gorgeous sunny weather (70 degree temps) and drove each about 45 miles. Friday, 09/29 and Saturday, 09/30: I’ll be in the N Manchester IN area as previously planned for Manchester College’s Homecoming … and my 10-year college graduation anniversary. Let me know if you’re in the area and want to meet. Monday, 10/02: I start my new employment with Weber-Stephen (Weber grills). OCTOBER 10-17 ROAD TRIP through AR-TX-OK-KS-MO-IA-WI-IL: This MAY be postponed (and extended a day or 2). I’ll attempt to post more info later. Also upcoming … may be able to do my radio show again…. I’m still looking for a winter beater. I know I’ve a lot of “catching up” to do, but it’ll be a while before I’m back online to stay (have to take care of the computer issue). In the meantime, anyone interested in… …Raceway Woods, Carpentersville IL: http://www.meadowdaleraceway.homestead.com/ …seeing the movie "Cars" …Volo Auto Museum, Volo IL: http://www.volocars.com …a weekend cruise (along IL RT 20 W ... 6. Heh....7 hrs or sleep for me is rare, except for the weekends. Course, it doesn't help when the stress of work makes me so exhausted I don't do much of anything at night during the week ... and instead "lounge around", only to get the "second wind" and then not get much sleep at night . 7. He he he ... it is a SMALL world. Since I originally posted this, I found out that a guy from the El Camino list was at the first race at Meadowdale Intl Raceway on Aug 15, 1958 ... and still has the souvenir program. AND....one of my heart friends actually RACED a VW there in 1968!
  8. Got your PM ... and replied . Thanks, Robert! And, dave, I'm thinking of the same thing (moving out of state).....
  9. He he he...I'm the EXACT same way . Cort, "Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip", 32swm/pig valve/pacemaker MC:family.IL.guide.future = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/ Models.HO = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/trainroom.html "Get the word out" ... Collective Soul ... 'Feeling Better Now'
  10. I don't think we ever could..... What a difference 5 years makes, eh? Heh ... my goodness ... can hardly believe it HAS been 5 years. But, it has. And, our world did change that day. I remember where I was ... and how that day unfolded. Yet, in some ways, a bit more interesting to me is how other events fall into that time sequence, including all that has happened in the 5 years since. Several examples have been running through my mind all day long, but one that stands out in my mind, particular since Grandparents Day was Sunday, 09/10/2006, is: Six days before 09/11/2001, we had moved my grandparents from their Elgin home in which they had lived since early summer 1983 to an assisted living facility 1.25 hours west in Mt Morris IL. Now, 5 years later, they are both gone ... and in between their deaths (Gram in October 2002, Gramps in December 2005), I had my 3rd open heart surgery (January 2003). Time is elusive and surprising ... and loves to play mind tricks on us. 11. *chuckles* Talk about adding insult to injury . trina, Curious ... what was your occupation that you plan to return to?
  12. He he... Bears 26, Packers 0 First time that B Favre has been shut out in his career ... and first time in 200+ games that the Packers have not scored in a game. 13. In the summer, I always wash/wash/clean the interior of my cars. The only time others wash my cars are at the MC Nationals ... when people generally are helpful.... I also clean out my parents' Cavalier and (if time permits) my sister's S-10 as well as our neighbor's Lumina. In the winter, my daily driver (currently my '87 MC LS, tho I'm searching for something else) does see the inside of a car wash ... touchless only. Moved. . .

*chuckles* It IS a small world. My best friend's family used to live in Berea many years ago (mid to late 1970s or so, iirc). Also, the Judds (Naomi, Wynonna & Ashley) used to live in that general area. 15. Hmmm.... While I don't particularly care for the results, whoever did the work deserves _some_ credit. After all, that, I suspect, represents quite a few hours of hard work ... something I've not done much of on any of my MCs..... 16. Aye ... I hate messes. But, I wouldn't suggest hitting the computer with a bat .

  18. Good ... glad to know she is doing well, even after that ordeal. But, you're right ... too often, we take life for granted ... and only find out "too late" how fragile it is. 19. Heh ... you're not the only one. I've only attended a couple car-related events this year ... neither of 'em in my home state. The first was the MC Nationals in TN; the second was the car show in PA that Oldsmoboi, a couple others, and I attended when I was in PA in August.... 24. Hot dang that is cool/awesome! Heh ... if I bought all of the model cars I wanted ... I'd be in the poor house .
