  1. Not a problem, 62impala ... was hoping I had just misinterpreted what you wrote..... Hmmm...but, see ... I love the Impala, too. My dad had a 68 Impala SS that I'd love to have back ... as well as a '58 Impala convertible that would be sweet to have. But, frankly, I would hope that Dad would never buy a FWD impala ... it's bad enough that he and Mom have a FWD monte carlo..... To me, the FWD versions are a slap in the face.... *shrugs* And, I agree with Sixty8 ... not every car has to be RWD. I've never asked for that...never want it. I'm just sick'n'tired of GM/Chevrolet slapping names of former RWD cars on FWD cars that, well ... never mind ;).
  2. Out of the ordinary? *pauses to think* Well....all 5 of my current MCs....he he he. But, out of the ordinary for me would be my former '97 malibu ... and perhaps even my former '00 mc LS.... *shrugs* Don't think that's what you're lookin' for though...sorry :(. 3. Hmmm.... Along with the pics of my cars on the website....check out this section, that includes pics of my Chevrolet models, etc.... http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/trainroom.html Cort, "Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip", 32swm/pig valve/pacemaker MC:family.IL.guide.future = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/ chdQB = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/quilt.html "I wonder if it's too late" ... 4. *raises eyebrow ever so cautiously* So....if I want a Monte Carlo, Impala or Malibu (RWD, that is) and will not consider FWD monte carlos, impalas and malibus ... I do not love Chevrolet? Sure hope my viewpoint of your statement is altered/controled by the pain in my abdomin that has kept me out of work since Dec 1 with no pay ... because I'd hate to think that my strong dislike for FWD "versions" of RWD vehicles would mean that I do not love Chevrolet ... would hope that my current crop would speak for itself in that department.... 5. Aye. There's an imagine I didn't need....heh. *sighs* Best not get me started...he he heh. 6. It is disturbing to me that you did not list the Monte Carlo with this group of vehicles.... *chuckles* Just kidding of course...sort of. *sighs* I think it is great that the Camaro is coming back ... regardless of the platform ... though I couldn't care less.... I also think it is great that some of the FWD vehicles are starting to get some attention in design and features in the last few years. I find it disturbing, however, that Chevrolet/GM has the nerve to slap an older RWD nameplate on a newer FWD vehicle.... But, that's just me..... 7. Yikes, CM...sorry about that.... Sure hope you b-i-l is doing better now....and continues to improve. In 1989, we were visiting some of my Mom's friends in Florida, when we received word that a family friend back home had been killed by a drunk driver when the drunk driver ignored a stop sign, hit the friend's car in the driver's side, pushing it into a tree. The husband of Mom's friend made a comment about the tragedy that drunk drivers bring to other families.... Ironically, just over a year later, he, too, was killed by a drunk driver hitting his car.... 8. Awesome pic!!!! So...did you put garland inside your Caddy?
  9. Amen! And, yet, somehow, with the way things are today....even one affordable RWD (not Corvette) doesn't seem at all possible.... *shrugs* Here's hoping we get that 3-car lineup ;). 10. Hmmm.... I find it _disturbing_ that GM/Chevrolet actually has people believing that the Monte Carlo, Impala and Malibu are currently in production ... when none of them are RWD. *shrugs* Course, I also find it _disturbing_ that I've no buried 2 grandparents within a 3 year timespan. 11. Hmmm....for whatever reason, that link didn't work for me.... At any rate, now, is that RWD, FWD, AWD or 4WD? 13. Maybe all 3 of us were brothers in a former life...? I love these types of photos, too. But, I tell ya what ... I know of 2 people that have a "mini collection" of sorts. One of them is a former co-worker of my Dad's from Unocal (formerly Union 76). We went to see him near here (Sycamore IL) about a year ago or so. Originally, we were told that he wanted to show us his model train layout. He did. But, then he also showed us his collections ... a TON of model cars along with old Union 76 and Unocal signs, among other memorabilia. It was awesome. The second is the father of one of my friends in Indiana. When I visited him in August, he took me for a drive, stopping at his Dad's place. He took me out to the garage where several older cars were, along with a bunch of gasoline memorabilia, including a couple pumps and a vending machine. It, too, was quite awesome! 14. This is ssssooo true! Earlier this week, my aunt and I sifted through some of Gramps' things in order to get ready for the family to divy up what each of us wants this coming Friday. During that time, I came across a brochure for Lena IL from the early 1970s. I, of course, saw it, picked it up, and instead of looking through it ... I focused on the picture on the cover ... and immediately spotted a Ford LTD, Chevrolet Caprice/Impala and, of course, a Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Now, if that were a brochure from today, not only would you not see any new Monte Carlos or Impalas in the picture, but you would not be able to tell if the car was a Toyota or a Chevrolet or a Ford or a Hundai or a Honda.... *shrugs* Cort, "Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip", 32swm/pig valve/pacemaker MC:family.IL.guide.future = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/ Models.HO = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/trainroom.html "It's coming down to nothing more than apathy" ... 15. LOL! Well, since you put it that way....he he heh.
  16. *chuckles* I know what you mean. When my 2000 mc LS was damaged in a flood in 2003, the insurance company was not going to total it out, telling me that it was "fixable" and would be "just fine". Bottom line was that "fixing" it cost less than the car was worth...so, no need to be totaled. Problem was that I had to then get a flood title for it, which would deem it "unfit" for complete coverage, which would negate the loan I had on it (which required full coverage). Thus, the car was totaled. Ironically, my agent told me that if one of the older Monte Carlos had been in that same flood ... they would've been totaled on the spot. *sighs*
  17. Thank you, Stace ... very much appreciated. <hug back> Now, as for you, Sixty8....fairness? Do we need to take your temperature? ;)
  18. *chuckles* Seee......I'm not the only one ;). C'mon GM....
  19. Tell that to the Dodge dealership I had contacted regarding the Charger. The salesperson called me the Thursday evening I went into the ER to tell me a dark blue base Charger had just arrived. It was sold by that Saturday, way before I was able to get to the dealership to even see it..... *shrugs* But, of course, your mileage may vary.... 20. As Northstar noted, IL requires 2 plates. All of my MCs have both plates ... doesn't look too out of place, considering all 3 of them were more-or-less designed with a spot for the front plate. Still...I've never understood why the front plate is required ... if the front had to have lights on the plate like the back does, I'd understand a bit more...ya know? 21. Thank you, Sixty8 ... much appreciated. Keep in mind, though, that "stupid problems" aren't. In other words, I know your issues are just as real and painful and stressful to you as mine are to me....ya know? Heh...sunny days ahead ... yes, but right now...very cold :(. He he he And, thanks for those pics ... I like the 2nd one better! Now...'bout that Mustang in your sig.....
  22. *nods* Amen! He he he...on that we agree ;).
  23. *nods* Looks good to me.... Though, I can see why some people may say it is "too much"..... But, what the helk do I know? BTW...love that sig of yours!
  24. Thank you all 3 of you for your kind words and thoughts/prayers. Definitely appreciated. Heh...ocnblu...your kind comment blew me away....thank you. cmatteson, I realize it is outpatient surgery for the gallbladder. However, given my heart history, my PCP isn't convinced that it will be simple outpatient surgery for me. This is why he wanted me to see the specialist...to rule out other possibilities first because he (my PCP) would rather I avoid surgery if possible....
  25. How far more expensive were they (if you don't mind noting)?
