I understand what you mean, balthazar, but I would advise against selling your first car. I know way too many people that have sold their first car for similar reasons ... and then highly regretted it later..... *** The only other car I want ... a 2011 Dodge Charger, Toxic Orange with tan/neutral interior trim. First ... and foremost ... congrats for making the decision ... and GOOD LUCK in finding EXACTLY what you want, Roger. I stress EXACTLY ... because it is NO fun to buy something that you do not like 100%. With cars, I'm less likely to "compromise" on what I want ... to SOME extent, of course. In your case, Roger, based on what you've said about and posted about with regard to the Grand Prix ... that '87 in particular ... I'd highly suggest you seriously consider finding the ability/money to buy THAT car. If you don't, you MAY kick yourself later ... no matter what you buy instead. *shrugs* That noted ... don't pass up a good opportunity "just because". After all, if I didn't "compromise" at all, my '76 MC Landau would NOT be mine. I NEVER wanted a black car because I KNOW how hard they are to keep clean. Yet, here I am with one ... because it was a deal TOO GOOD to pass up, made possible by the fact that the original owner learned just how much I LOVE older cars, particularly Monte Carlos. So, be patient. You'll obtain what you want. If I can be of assistance, you know how to contact me! Sometimes it is hard to take part in a hobby ... even WITH a car at a cruise night, if said car isn't "up to par" with the rest of the cars there. "Up to par" in terms of condition, etc. *rolls eyes* I'm not sure which is worse ... to not have a car there ... or to have a car there that doesn't garner any attention/interest. Anyone else have thoughts of changing up the automotive family? For a while, I've wanted to add the following vehicles to my car family: 1975 Caprice Classic convertible 1977 Caprice Classic sedan 1978 Caprice Classic coupe 1989 Caprice Classic 9C1 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe But, now ... the only vehicle I want to add to my family is a 1989 Caprice Classic (sedan or 9C1), to be the "summer" daily driver to my "winter warrior" 1979 Caprice Classic sedan. Along with that, I've decided that, if the "right" '1989 CC (good shape, FI, cruise control, A/C, power, road trip worthy, etc.) comes along, I'll probably sell my 1972 MC. Why? Because my '72 MC is the only "expendable" MC I own ... the '76 is the year my parents had; the '79 is my first car; the '81 was my parents' car; and the '87 has sentimental reasons for the year.... But, even that plan could change, if my next checkup indicates I need more surgery ...and/or... I buy my own house.... In the meantime, my newest cars will have to do ... ~50 of them. I bought 80 cars, ~30 of which I bought for my nephew, who is learning what each car is VERY quickly! I LOVE to WRITE. I interned at a local newspaper "back in the day" and had many articles published. Recently, another article I wrote was published; this time, online. I've also added a bit more to my Route 66 story. AUTO ADS Last time here, I posted a thread with a bunch of older commercials that caught my attention: Then, Drew posted an article I wrote about commercials: ROUTE 66 After my September 2009 road trip along Route 66, I started writing a Route 66-based story. I finally added a new section in late February 2011, just as the host website was disbanded. So, the entire story is copied in here. Soon, my story may have a new home; details to be determined. *** This new road's speed limit is 45 MPH, even though the road is a 4-lane beauty with little to no current development. I suspect that will change in the future, though, with all the "growth" along Randall Rd the last few years.
