  1. Chalk up another "I want to see it". Not that I'd be able to afford it, of course, but I'd like to take a closer look at it, anyway. My rental for that trip was an '08 LaCrosse: http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/200711/RT1...ickWmc_jpg.html I think the LaCrosse will fit the bill for your folks well. I didn't like it ... but, then again, I don't like FWD ... nor do I like leather seats ... both of which the LaCrosse I had featured. 15. As a member of various groups and message boards, I've met quite a few people during my road trips. With "small world" experiences such as this one... http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/1106/DSC07591r8_jpg.html ...I'm convinced that we are more of a community than just words on a screen on a particular message board. I'm STILL amazed at that connection ChevyTalk's DeeGee and I made that evening in Oklahoma City.... That written, I'm attempting an experiment. Last year, I started a thread asking people to state where all they have lived. For THIS experiment, I'm asking 3 additional questions: Where all did you go to school (HS and college) and when? Where all have you worked and when? If treated/being treated for a health condition, at what hospital(s) have you been/are you being treated? (and, of course) Where all have you lived and when? As people share, I will put together a list, by state, of people (I'll only use handles, not names) and where they've gone to school, worked, been treated and lived. Then, I'll post the list and see how many people are "connected" in different ways ... whether directly or indirectly. If you so choose, please participate; maybe we'll illustrate that, as I believe and have experienced, community IS a gift. My schools: Larkin HS, Elgin IL ... 1988-1992 Manchester College, N Manchester IN ... 1992-1996 My places of employment: The Courier-News newspaper, Elgin IL ... summers 1995 and 1996 Sears, Hoffman Estates IL ... 16. Hmph. Then, in that case, why on earth is Ch#$r%*et/GM (from what has been reported, anyway) killing the RWD Impala and keeping the FWD Celebrity/Lumina/impala? *shakes head* It just don't make no sense..... FWIW, Northie ... I think you should be working for GM in product planning, too.... 17. *raises eyebrow sharply* Why? Oh ... maybe because Ch#$r%*et turned its collective backs on its enthusiasts when it decided to bring out the Ch#$r%*et Corolla/Toyota Nova in the mid-1980s ... and then continued down that path in the 90s and today. Is Ch#$r%*et in far better shape today than it has been in decades? Oh my yes. Can't argue that. But, that doesn't mean I like ... or, rather, HAVE to like ... what they've done to get there.... *shrugs* Cort:34swm."Mr Monte Carlo.Mr Road Trip".pig valve&pacemaker WRMNshowcase.legos.HO.models.MCs.RTs.CHD = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort "You've made a fool of everyone" ... 18. Bingo. Heh ... I wasn't sure what to think of the quote when I first read it ... then kinda liked it ... then kinda didn't. So, thought I'd "put it out there" and see what others thought. I do think it has value ... certainly an interesting conversation piece (imho, of course). But, I think if a few words were changed, I'd agree with it 100%.... 19. A day or so ago, this was the daily quote on the systems at work: I already know life is short, and I TRY to live like I know that, but sometimes things get in the way. This quote struck me as another way to "step back"...not that I'm able to always do that.... Thoughts? 21. Yeah, I know I _shouldn't_ feel that way, but in some respects, I do. Tho, reading some posts from today, sounds like the RWD crowd is speaking up a bit more . Maybe I'm just a bit more vocal about all of this. But, I'm not about to change my opinions or even tone down my opinions for people to respect me. If I did, I'd be lying to myself ... and everyone else [and thus, following in Ch#$r%*et's well-established footprint in that area] ... and that wouldn't be fair, either. At least, not imho. *shrugs* But, yeah, I definitely am not a "lemming brand" fan ... not by any stretch of the imagination . he he I agree ... but, it sure hasn't helped so far...... 22. Hmmm... Except, the Nova already made a comeback ... in the mid-1980s with the Toyota Nova/Ch#$r%*et Corolla ... and that didn't last that long. I'm not sure I'd call it a success, but maybe it was.... That car was eventually renamed as part of the Geo line ... Geo Prizm. As for the Chevelle ... I would think for that to be successful it would need to be a RWD car. I'd be willing to bet you'd hear a LOT more enthusiasts speak up about that being FWD....no? 23. Well, I'm one of the brave ones, too. My daily is my '87 MC LS ... and it has been more reliable, all-year round, yes, including winter, than my former '00 Celebrity/Lumina/monte carlo LS ever was.... As for lack of features ... imo, the CL seats (more cushiony) in my '87 MC LS are a lot more comfortable than the buckets were in my Lumina. As for other things, well, I've been happy without 'em the last 4 years or so ... and was happy without 'em prior to that in my older 4 MCs. Not to mention less costs in insurance ... and, best of all, NO car payments! Sixty8 ... sounds like you have a lead on a replacement car already...? 24. *nods* Thanks for replying directly, VenSeattle. I can certainly understand where you are coming from ... and, even, I admit, your arguments for what you believe. Still ... what GM has done with car names over the last 20 years or so has really rubbed me the wrong way ... and it isn't likely to change, given their insistance on insulting people. Be that as it may ... I'm not sure we can completely understand which would have a more successful outcome and why. As I've read the different posts, it is obvious that each (RWD/FWD) have their own noted strengths and weaknesses ... both having staunch supporters. *shrugs* While I understand the comparison between the Dodge Charger and the Ch#$r%*et Celebrity/Lumina/impala is made for the FUTURE cars, I'm still not convinced that the two CURRENT cars should be considered direct competitors (as many seem to, anyway), given that _currently_ one is RWD and the other is FWD. One would think that each has their own buyer base without regard to size, price, etc. *sighs* But, I know ... again, that's just me. Sadly, the more I read here, the less welcomed I feel.
