I’m too ‘established in my experience’ to have the brakes & steering wheel fighting me for control. Toyota can go F itself; keep them optional/ defeatable or disabable.

I’ve seen a couple on the road by me, they look presentable. But the standard driver safety features would make it a hard ‘no’ for me.

When announced back in 2012, it was supposed to be 54 MPG average by 2025. Then it got dialed back to 36. In 2017, honda & mazda led with CAFE's of 29 MPG. Not sure if that's sales-weighted, or a simply average of EPA numbers. They should be able to get to 36 in 7-8 years, yes. The low-end of the field (FCA, GM, Ford & Mercedes) were around 22; that's a longer haul. But 54 as initially put in place is wildly unrealistic.

Sure that area needs the jobs (though I wonder if any of the meager 200 jobs are short-term/related to construction/set-up), but the company needs to ante up if they want to make money here. Free ride days need to come to an end and strict limitations on state-level ‘packages’ need to be implemented.

Proposing to freeze emissions standards at a future level (2021) is not "relaxing" anything and frankly, achieving 36 composite fleet MPG by 2025 isn't tenable, esp with EVs parked at 2% of the market. That future standard was written when people were still envisioning a tsunami of EV sales; reality is settling in vs. science fiction. In other words; 2025 is too soon for 36 MPG fleet.

It's smart for the consumer of course, but for OEMs already losing thousands per unit- it makes little sense. 1. Selling more of a money-losing product doesn't help the OEM's books. 2. Creating an expectation that 'big discounts' are the norm creates downward pressure on future (hopefully profitable) ATPs. The only thing that is relatively 'safe' in this regard is tax credits- most people don't qualify for the full amount (but it sounds good) and the fact that it's Gov't-issued takes the control of that discount out of the OEM's hands. -
Are we tailoring the world exclusively to 'younger people'?? Seems weird if so, especially in connection with motor vehicles since they don't buy any. Bit I read said there was a dealership employee that made an inappropriate comment to a female customer, and that was part of the reason it was removed. A lot of people petitioned to keep it, but you know how the world is today- one person is offended (or thinks another one person may be offended), and the thing in question is stricken from sight. Apparently the Chief was in deteriorated condition, but is getting restored and installed at the Pontiac Museum (I disremember where that is, but it may well be in Pontiac MI). - - - - - A Green Slick Deal For Ocn ~

Model 3 is doing decent, but Model S is only averaging 1200/mn, Model X 1500/mn. The pace is 160K/yr, but they were supposed to be at 500K/yr this year.

Chevy has a half dozen sedans and only 1 sports coupe. no equivalency.

Tried in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and I’ll bet in the 80s & 90s too. It’s not so much technology as physics, but maybe they’ll find a niche one day.

Chromliness is next to Truckiness. Seriously, ya- the 'classic' GMC above could tone it down 25-35%. Paint the bumper insert & the hood scoop trim. Could thin the grille surround a bit too. -
Drank heavily on occasion in decades past (not problematic-levels/frequency), but now down maybe 4 drinks a year. Haven't ever liked wines.

Canyon is mid-line in looks for me- no issues but no lust. Part of that is the small size. It's better than the 'coma (which looks dated to me). I don't know what it is about the Silverado- I still really like the nose. It still may be the cues borrowed off the B-59... And it's certainly not automatic for me - the current Canyon ranks higher than the Silverado I've been driving for years in the looks department. Sierra is pretty awesome, either the new one above or the 'classic' ~ -

I actually agree with Bill - the American trucks are so varied and so profitable, the regular cab should be in regular production like any other model. Yes; even Bill's coveted RC/short box. ? Frankly, it's the 'extended cab' that makes no sense- you can't put people in the back- so who's buying these, and at the very least- why isn't there a rear storage option that deletes the rear 'seat'?
