Local water tower got repainted, this is the scaffolding coming down. Googling around, this is apparently in the neighborhood of a $1.25 million dollar job.

Industry News: Trump Raises Tariffs on All Mexican Goods
balthazar replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Industry News
Despite the fact that personal consumerism is 67% of GDP, there's no question in my mind that Corporate/Government VASTLY over-consume. And since the VAST bulk of Government's monies comes from personal consumers (IE: it's citizens, and by mandate), it is THERE I place any blame. I, for one, certainly do not over consume. In fact, I'm sure on a individual level I fail to meet the median rate. I agreed with dwight above; perhaps some would find the term 'balanced trade' better than 'free'. -

OR….. perhaps 'we' can start paying workers 22 cents/hr and work them 75 hrs/wk. That might help. -

Gotta wonder why the soon-to-be global superpower China leans so incredibly heavy on them... -
Lot-drove this '60 F-100 4-spd today. Shifted way nicer than my '40 for some reason- perhaps it was more worn in. The '60 was in for brake & exhaust work.

How do we even know if the amg1 is going to make it? I know daimler has said so, but they've showed dozens of concepts they've never built, plus they're cutting models & budgets right now. An amg1 would be by far the biggest waste of funds they have and is likely to be the very first program cut.

^ So the newest, most capable, highest range vehicle is going to be the 2nd cheapest??? Whatevs you say, Elon. - - - - -

^ It's funny: I don't mind them when discreet, like on the ankle/foot or the hand/ wrist/ arm, but it needs to stay in the 5% coverage range. The worst are big, dark thigh tattoos. My brother's girlfriend has some sort of huge dragon from the shoulder down her back onto her leg, from my understanding. Thousands of dollars, huge piece of art, never shown publicly and you can't see it yourself = Crazy Town. I also don't get written tattoos beyond names/dates.

"The Corvette NEEDED to be mid-engined a decade ago. " Totally disagree with this statement.

I dunno- the Coast Guard famously sunk an early 50s Chevy pickup AND a ‘59 Buick trying to cross to Florida. CG seems to be holding its line... -
On no no no no! “ Build high end versions of everything; people have money- they’ll buy it!” and “the profit margin would be amazing!” and “they could make (X) millions right there!” Gotta work on the hypocrisy; it’s raging.

When she appreciates a 'trigger-quick bundle of vitality' to bow to her will ~ Not as classy… but maybe some wouldn't mind that ~

I was expecting ‘Cherry Pie’ by Warrant.

OK- strike the air-cooled part. Now tell me how the Phaeton worked with the rest & how it worked out.
-
'Staying true' - business doesn't commonly survive long term doing whatever that is. VW was always a dirt cheap, static, air-cooled product- where's that / who wants that? - - - - -

NAH - mercedes can't decide what their mission / definition is. They're arguably the most lost : super high end lux vehicles that sell in a trickle, mass mainstream production of FWD shitboxes, and unbearably utilitarian cargo boxes / a rebadged pickup truck, none of which are separated by badging, or dealerships or advertising. Yeah- they make money, but so did the Pet Rock.

they BOTH suck and they BOTH raise taxes. All the time. Look at this mental defective I've got to live under : https://nypost.com/2019/02/09/new-jersey-wants-to-tax-the-rain/ 'Revenue streams' - that's the Prime Directive of Gov't in recent times. Look at the proposal to raise EV registrations to $1000 in one state. "How do we make up the lost revenue??" the lawmakers whine. YOU DON'T GET TO! ; there's zero guarantee you're going to get X-amount of dollars; there's no constitutional amendment that guarantees a fiscal influx. YOU'RE OUT OF FUCKING LUCK- MAKE IT WORK! Conditions fluctuate all the time and strong-arming your way to trillions of dollars because you can is legalized racketeering. And by the by- BALANCE THE FEDERAL BUDGET! Clinton lucked out because the economy was very good, internationally it was quiet, and he kept out of trouble chasing cheeseburgers & tail. He sucked, Bush sucked, Obama sucked, Trump sucks. I've listened to my mother rant about Trump, but when I asked her seriously who the last president she could say she really liked, she stopped, thought a long moment, and said 'Kennedy'. That's a lo-oooong assed dry spell.
