  1. How can you tell??
  2. The Plexi-roofed Crestline/Crown Vic is the Skyliner, built '54-56 (in '56: 'Crown Victoria Skyliner'). The convert was the Sunliner. The '56, with the roofline 'basket handle', is definitely the swankiest.
  3. Depends on how many we're talking about. If it's anything like past MB EV efforts, might only be 500 units. Might be telling that they know it's 'sold out' but didn't release the number.
  4. As far as I'm aware, THIS mistake has never been, exactly, repeated.
  5. Those horrible , giant, always-black, rubber steering wheels BMW stuck in everything, even when nothing else in the interior was black, just SCREAMED 'cheap'. It's like they got a container ship of them for a nickel a piece and they lasted 30 years.
  6. That's certainly more tolerable. I'm already 'out' on a new SIlverado- too pricey.
  7. • You stated "factory produced". Alpina modifies BMWs in their OWN garage, not in a BMW assembly plant. Where you physically buy it is irrelevant; it's not 'factory'. • You stated the 7-series outsells the CT6 in the US. It didn't for the last calendar year, and it wasn't really close.
  8. Whether you can work out of one or not (and there's no reason you can't) is irrelevant. I'm not NOT buying it because it's not marketed as a "work truck", I'm not buying it because it's over SEVENTY GRAND.
  9. 'Politics' are the ones 'making plans'. 'Wanting' it, and BUYING it are 2 different things. I'm not buying a $70+K Rivian truck. Ever.
  10. Maybe, but the '05 M5 wasn't "factory produced" that way. And Alpina is an aftermarket tuner. If Alpina is 'in', so is the '12 Hennessey CTS-V, which went 221 MPH. As usual- you stated that criteria was determined by sales, and specifically mentioned the CT6 and the 7-series. A statement that I answered.
  11. That's a ridiculous overstatement.
  12. Specifically with regards to dates & market share, 'plans always change' is a lot more concrete than 'the future is coming'.
  13. Plans ALWAYS change.
  14. CT6 outsold the 7-series in the US in 2018, in fact it almost outsold the 7-series and A8 combined. Guess it's better than 2 Germans cars. Wow, how many years did it take for BMW to best Cadillac by a measly 5 MPH?
  15. Meh- these are all future predictions, not fact. Plans change all the time, CA just cancelled their high speed rail after promising it was coming, for EX. No country has yet instituted an IC ban, they've only picked a random year and state that's their goal. If automakers don't make any money building EVs, or the sell rate is a mere fraction of IC vehicles, do you think they're all going to blunder forward into bankruptcy 'because they said so'?
  16. Of course- there's compromises no matter where you come down on the timeline. Internet stuff is cool, some of it anyway. More music; yep. Better entertainment; yep. But there's a lot of little things that fall the other way. Not worrying about locking your door or your car. Much stronger sense of community/neighborly-ness. A fridge that lasts longer than 12 years. Quality construction. Only 3 potato chip flavors to choose from. People minding their own business where prudent. Cheap Tuckers.
  17. A bill one cannot afford is not "short term blindness". Televisions are a poor analogy- the first commercial TV set was $1300, in 1954. That's $13,000 today. TVs have been coming down in price since Day 1. Most consumer electric/electronics do, but motor vehicles have only gone the OTHER way. You could've bought yourself a brand new Crosley in '54 for $1000. Since the Leaf's $29K in 2013, every other EV intro'd or unveiled since has been MORE money.
  18. ^ Yep- no problem. - - - - -
  19. Have you seen ANY evidence of that to date? Why is the Jag i-pace $70K and the audi e-tron $75K and the Rivian truck $69K, etc etc. If Tesla can charge $85K -$97K, what is the motivation for any other manufacturer to come in at $25-30K? 'cause I'm not seeing it yet.
  20. There are solutions if owners are willing to pay for them. Not every apartment building owner will do this, and the majority have not as yet. There are still numerous urban neighborhoods where not having a driveway is commonplace- I'll be working on one such home later today. In fact, it's a series of 6 connected units- none of which have a driveway; all on-street parking. While I live in a private home, the nearest non-Tesla charger to my house is 30 mins away. Less than a mile away is a large condo village: 83 buildings, The one I worked in last Dec was 12 units. That's about 1000 condos with no driveways & no garages. Believe me; knowing that condo village, the Association is not going to be installing EV chargers anytime in the near future.
