  1. Maybe BMW is looking for more transmission options, they certainly used plenty of GM automatics before, and more & more of their cars are ditching manuals...
  2. Once I accelerated in the GP with some critical component missing there, and the hood flew up- but all it did was jettison both hood springs out to either side; the hinges did not overextend and there was no damage. Found 'em in the ditches and reinstalled them.
  3. Guess I relive a bit of this every 9/11; my wife was in NYC that morning. I didn't kno exactly where until nearly noon and I didn't hear from her until 3PM. It's hard to even try and fathom the horror of being trapped in the WTC floors above the plane strikes...
  4. ^ Wiki says '96 was the last year for both the Century & Roadmonster wagons.
  5. Buyers these days are heinously ignorant of engine technology. BMW owners never pop their hoods, rapping at the giant plastic engine shrouds, explaining the invisible double-humpity-hump-hump cams. The OVERWHELMING majority buy on reputation & image, not intangible mechanical bits. This is not to say it doesn't play a minor, periphery influence, but it doesn't sell cars in & of itself. Ocnblu is right; results trump the spec sheet, because at least that is tangible.... tho this takes time to manifest itself in blind loyalty. In other words, the majority of buyers here are buying a "BMW", not a 'DOHC, VVT inline 6'. Look no further for verification than the 75% of 1-series buyers (and 40% of 3-series buyers) whom BMW themselves admitted bought their car for it's FWD technology.
  6. You are dead wrong on that one- how much did we bet?
  7. 'rake of windshield pillars' is a persistent problem in most modern cars. This is one of those instances where safety (greatly reduced visibility) takes a back seat to Gov't regulation (ultimately; CAFE).
  8. ^ >>"Chrysler says the seven-year deal with TOFAS calls for 190,000 Doblos to be shipped to North America. "<< Transit Connect is selling right about 30K units, wonder where Chrysliat thinks 27K more annual units in this tiny segment is going to come from?
  9. >>"We are NOT guaranteed a "next time" to take action, meet, gather, talk, or say what is on our mind or how we feel."<< ^ World would have far less bullsh!t in it if more people kept this in mind. Hang tough, Cort!
  10. The problem in hindsight here is these cars did not resonate well vs. the '68-72s, and collectibility and values have trailed FAR behind ever since they hit the used markets. It's great to know they have a following and some are working to preserve them, but they'll never match the following of the earlier A-Bodies. To some, that's fine and even preferable. Personally, I never cared for the styling of these whatsoever. I could own a '68-72, but even the stylist best of these (Grand Am IMO) I wouldn't want.
  11. '60s Pontiac white interiors were almost always "Parchment". There was a Yuma Beige for '63, but by looking at the chips, pretty sure this car is white. '63 interior could be parchment or saddle, but this is not dark enuf to be saddle.
  12. Why is everyone posting their pics on CL on crack? Worse average photography, there isn't. Do love the 1st gen GPs- classy & brawny @ the same time.
  13. Reminds me of Dad's '77 Cat Safari...
  14. Oh HO, didn't realize we were talking 2500HD DM; NICE!! It's a beauty - put 'er to work! I haven't seen this generation 2500 up close/inspection yet, my buddy's on his 2nd 1500 (just bought a black '11 CC a month ago). Here's my workhorse 2500HD scoring free firewood after Irene : These are fine, capable machines, that's for sure.
  15. Ward's says Ford sold 340K F-150s thru August. Sales ticker says Ford sold 361K F-Series thru August. NO WAY did Ford ONLY move 21K F-250s ~ F-550s in 8 months- that's only 1750/month. Ford moves way more F-250s alone than that. Something sure looks amiss. This is in no way an attempt to belittle the EB V6. On paper at least, I think it's an excellent advance & (price aside), the appeal is real. I like Ford trucks a lot- I've had 4 Fords and only 1 GM truck. But being a past F-Series owner, delving into the way Ford tallies their numbers AND reading countless unintentional published 'switcheroos' between 'F-150' and 'F-Series'... I smell the same thing going on here. I may be wrong here tho...
  16. Ford's "#1 best seller' is not the F-150, but the F-Series, which is the F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550. Sooooooooooooo, the EB V-6 CERTAINLY is not in 40% of all those models, so we're not talking about that monstrous a quantity (yet).
  17. I spent time over 2 winters working in Avalon; drove down Monday morning, slept in the house and left Wed evening. In Jan/Feb- the island was absolutely deserted.... except for the WAWA there. :metal: :metal: Once out on Avalon proper, I'd drive about 20 blocks to the house and the streets were barren. Creepy. There was an island elevation chart on the fridge there, we were on the highest spot, and that was only 8'.
  18. Like the homestead pics, too, Moltar- any vintage iron (my 'vintage', not your 'vintage' ) iron hiding along a fencerow there? I suppose that barn cupola is purely ornamental, ie; there's no earthly way to get into it from inside, right? That would be pretty cool if you could. I want to move into a cupola one day.
  19. Prolly- my brother's car berthed there for a number of years. In general- it's on the new side for my 'club'; the rest of the members are '64, '59 & '40. In fact, only things newer that have EVER been in there are his '71 GTO and my '73 Charger.
  20. Starting price seems a bit on the inexpensive side...
  21. HOW DARE YOU! I currently have 1 empty in my 4-bay shop, yes.
  22. Price seems decent if the structure is all solid. My brother has one of these... but he's not looking for another right now. And how did you know I have an empty bay??
  23. I like to work on Labor Day, so I did today (taking a break right now), and also did on Sat. I lost enough time during Irene to sit around the house...ESP with rain predicted for most of the week.
