  1. ^ I don't think they'd want to downgrade to 15"s, tho.
  2. I've been requested to contact the grandson of Harley Earl, by said person, in regards to some unspecified internet rambling I did on concept cars. Not sure what caught his eye... This brings me right back to the time the owner of Pontiac Historical Services called my house, demanding to know why I was "badmouthing" him on the internet. (He still hasn't fixed the 'problem' ! )
  3. >>"And Silverados don't have a lot of mark up?"<< Not as much as mercedees mainstreamers do. Again I ask: why doesn't VW make it 'cost effective' ? I'm just saying, if GM is getting $7200 for the 6.6, they're going to ask closer to $5000 for a V6 version, not $1000. I could be wrong, but it's not logical to assume such a tremendously low figure.
  4. 'Automotive holy grails' - have we done such a topic?
  5. mercedees has tons of markup in their cars- they can afford the shell game of offering a $1000 diesel. VW can't, because that car has far less markup. And I didn't say the V6 TD would require a HD trans, just noting that the cost of getting a DuraMax is more than $7200, because you cannot get the motor without the trans and GM breaks out the cost separately. $7200 is the comparative cost of the diesel motor alone.
  6. I believe a lot of people judge their self-worth by how many FB 'friends' they have.
  7. Completely unrealistic. DuraMax is $7200 (then you get to add the Allison cost on). Even VW charges $4700 more for the TDI. V6 TD would be every bit of a $5000 option.
  8. ^ Or is that just like cigarettes; here in Jersey they ask for ID if you look 27 or younger.
  9. 6.2L is 403 HP - offering a 315 HP option for those that don't want/need the 6.2L's power allows the Silverado to appeal to more consumers.
  10. I get 'Stallone' all the time. Just posted a pic on another forum, very next post said 'Yo Rocky'. I don't see it myself, but whatever. He's looking pretty rough now, over 60 and 'roided out and all, but the association could be worse. I could make people think of Carrot Top {shudder}
  11. BLORF!
  12. >>"I disagree that statutes of limitations for high school stuff runs out. People who would throw me under the bus in high school who suddenly want to act like old friends because in the real world friends are hard to come by... no thanks."<< Interesting- if that's the motivation, I would agree. Last year I jettisoned a best friend of over 2 decades, as his mind warped & shriveled into a nucleus of intolerance of others, and regardless of the good times we had, I don't need that sh!t directed at me. F him. I would agree it's in the genes. A bunch of longevity on my father's side: Gramps is going to be 96 this month. Bill- did you go to earlier reunions? I went to my 20th- enjoyed it but that's going to be the only one.

  14. I prolly carry too much baggage from the high school years. For EX, I recently looked at the FB profile of a guy I had a cross-room brawl with in high school, and I still feel dislike toward him, even tho the 'statute of limitations' has long ago run out on that. OTOH, as I randomly look up people I used to know from HS, I feel better & better about my current state of self-preservation. Many of the 'beautiful people' have fallen so hard. Life can be a harsh mistress, so the saying goes. Is it wrong to take a teaspoon of glee from that??

  16. I'll request pics of the '59. I am really thinking about a vintage wagon to replace my truck. Get a mechanical restoration, and OD trans and all my work/band transport issues are answered for far cheaper than anything 0-3 years old.
  17. ^ The only thing I would asterisk that with is factory concept cars- but obviously those are very few & far between.
  18. I know- right?? Like howevermany years wasn't long enough on the other one. It's prolly temporary. Know who that guy is?
  19. 50,000 maserati's a year??? Not a chance in hell- even with 15 models.
  20. Camino is quite right on the price of Chevelle SS LS6 cars- I've seen them comfortably over $200K. I have learned not to doubt the values of classic Chevys- they're always higher than I think they should be, but people spend the money for them.
  21. I run on about 5-6 hrs a night. I can run on 3 one night out of 3- I occasionally do but try not to. Energy-wise feeling pretty good (a bit past turbojett in years).
  22. Is it really worth that much, C?
  23. There are no cars out there today that are 'for me', but there are trucks. Someone; leave me a few good trucks in the future, please!!
  24. Wife has a 4-banger Malibu ('09), and it's comparable to the 3.8 GP also in the drive. I don't know who would win in a race (the GP seems stout for what it should be), but that's hardly the point. If I want to, I can leave 3 lanes of traffic far behind at a highway light without going over 65 (in a 50) in the 2.4L. For the purpose & use of the 2 cars, it's a wash AFA performance goes. I have a 600+ TRQ V8 I drive around daily- and someday I will finish another 550+ TRQ gas engine to bookend it.
  25. rough cut of Here We Go Again from my son's band's 2nd upcoming EP...
