  1. On my '06 LaCrosse the interior trunk release is accomplished by pushing and holding in the top side of the door lock button. I'm curious how you feel about the overall size since this is soon to be the largest Buick sedan after the Lucerne dies next year.
  2. I just came back from an auto show (Dayton Ohio - where they used to make Trailblazers) and saw the new LaCrosse for the first time. Let me tell you it is STUNNING! Some of the themes from the Invicta are there. The interior is everything the CTS interior is. While I love my '06 LaCrosse (best car ...) there is no comparison. The new LaCrosse has it all. It looks real sweet next to an Enclave and both would be real sweet in my garage. BTW, I was also impressed with the MK... offerings from Lincoln. Anyone who says the American car compainies (perhaps except Chrylser) can't make cars equal to the Germans and Japs ..... well they have medication for them.
  3. 1. 2 Buicks the first was a 1992 Century and the second is my 2006 LaCrosse. 2. Not sure of the future. Next car will be for the wife and probably a Traverse. I saw the Invicta last week at the Buick Open in Flint. It is a stunning car. Interesting to see if it makes it to production.
  4. What is written here is: In the past, because Toyota products have so consistently proved reliable, the magazine would assume at least average reliability for Toyota's brand new cars, without waiting for survey data from owners. What is not written or admitted is did CR ASSUME domestic brands had poor quality before survey data came it?
  5. Velite sounds like a low calorie cheese spread from Kraft. RIVIERA please while there are still people alive who remember that the Riv' was like.
  6. RIVIERA for Pete's sake. GM brand managers take a hint! One reason you are in the jam you are in is that you've pretty much managed to destroy whatever brands you had.
  7. I hope GM keeps on the attack as the new Tundra hits the road. I'm sure Toy will get much free publicity as the lemmings cast their praise for the new Tundra. I was at the Cincinnati auto show yesterday and had a chance to see both brands up close. I thought that the Tundra had way too much plastic in the interior making the inside look cheap. Interior finish and materials on the GM trucks were much better. No price tags on the Toy so can't compare prices. Wonder how long before the Tundra is recalled or sludge builds up in the engine?
  8. Wow ... between this and the new Malibu, I really like GM's new direction on interiors. Atttractive, stylish, and from what I've heard the materials are much improved. Follow these designs with top notch fit and finish and GM may surprise alot of critics over the next year or so.
  9. Granted there were some SS packages in the 60s that were merely cosmetic. However, few would go ga-ga over an SS 283 these days. SS 396 or 427 Chevelle, Camaro or Nova with the complete performance package ... yeah baby! The memories bring tears to the eyes of a SS lover now middle aged and driving a Buick.
  10. I think (or actually hope) that this is an indication of better brand management coming from the General. The abuse of the SS label over the years tarnished it quite a bit IMHO. In the glory years of the 60s, SS truely meant something beginning with the 409 Impala SS to the Chevelle SS 396 to the Camaro SS ... and for Pete's sake something with 4 doors should never have an SS tag let alone a truck.
  11. As a recent LaX buyer, I'll go on record as saying this is the most underestimated cars on the market. My budget (I have a kid in college - you can relate) was low 20s and at that price point the LaX excells (IMHO). I wanted space, relaibilty, decent mileage and comfort. My LaX CX meets all of those better than any other car. The quality is second to Lexus and the 3800 engine has been around forever. It is quite, well put together and materials are fine for the 20k price. My daughter has an Altima and while it is a fine car my Lax is much more refined. Accord and Camry are fine cars but with a GM discount and rebates the Lax price can't be beat. I think Buick has two problems. First, they have done little to promote the bentefits and features of the LaX. Second there is too much price overlap between the Lucerne and the LaCrosse. I struggled with this quite a bit but until college is paid for, I'm on a budget. Buick either needs to raise the price on the Lucerne or value price the LaCrosse even more. If I remember, the price difference is about 3k. And a loaded LaX gets into Lucerne territory fast. I don't think Buick can survive on just one sedan and a future crossover. As far as an old persons car - I'm 56 so whatever! If possilbe, I'd be driving a Corvette in a New Tor4k minute so I guess the 'Vette is an old man's car too. Cheers
