  1. The fact that they have a recall going and that it's considered to be a problem makes me think that there's something about the design of the intake on those Altimas that's a problem. You don't hear about that kind of stuff happening to other cas, which makes it kinda weird and causes me to suspect some fault in the design of the Altima's airbox or something. I wonder if we're getting the whole story here and I'd be curious to know all the details behind this, since they don't go very much into detail.
  2. Smashing pumpkins is my favourite passtime! Wait... What? Oh.. The band.. Riiiiight... Yeah, I like them!
  3. I love the way the fron looks, while thre rear makes me want to gouge my eyes out with a rusty fork. I love the hybrid badge I'm seeing on the side, but unfortunately, that not the paradiGM hybrid system, yet.. What gives? Looks nice with the exception of the Infinitiesque rear that really does NOT belong on that car. My only problem is that it will most definitely be outright berated in reviews and such for being yet another mild hybrid and it won't get anywhere near the fuel mileage that others get.
  4. I like how that new vid isn't a commercial and doesn't have about 50,000 cuts and such in it. This should be able to serve as better evidence that the G80 > *, and that the last vid was also real and not just a computer generated thing like Fords driving on buildings.
  5. Yeah, that's usually their reaction... They try to discredit what you say using anything they can think up, even if that means using some kind of backwards logic that has no bearing on reality on this planet. If they can't, or sometimes in tandem with the discreditting attempt, they'll call you a "hater," because you dare think the unthinkable: Toyota isn't unfallible! If it were me, I'd ask how any of that qualifies as Toyota bashing in their minds.
  6. Yeah, I'm really not surprised by their reactions at all. I was lounging around in a certain car forum  and had seen a thread about this. Of course, everyone tried to discredit the video and we GM fans usually shot back with actual facts about the locker and how their conspiracy theory wasn't very realistic. The response we got most of the time afterwards was that it was just marketing and it was a biased comparison and anyone who believed otherwise was a biased moron. I'll leave out all the usual redneck references and other such insults that I find enthusiasts of other brands tend to send my way, since I'm a GM enthusiast. I think I'll post that latest video in the discussion we had over there.
  7. After watching the video and seeing that the Velite will NOT be happening because they wish to focus on projects such as the Volt, the E-Flex platform as a whole, hybrids and a myriad of other such fields/technologies, I'm understanding but worried at the same time. I'm beginning to wonder if there is much of a future for Buick within GM or if they're going to keep dumping all their proverbil eggs into the Cadillac and Chevrolet baskets. He says that Cadillac will definitely be getting more and Chevrolet has several things on the horizon like the Volt, Camaro, Traverse, and there talk of the NEXT Corvette already while at Buick... well... The Park Ave might be imported in limited nmbers, there might be a smaller (than the LaCrosse) Buick, etc. I might be overreacting here, but I'm not liking how all wehear is might this, maybe that and nothing seems to really be happening ever since the Enclave has finally made it's appearance into the world. It feels a little too much like Oldsmobile a while back...
  8. Nah... They just tend to make up some nice conspiracy theories and point-out how the guy driving the Silverado was clearly cheating and the one in the Tundra did all he could to get stuck. @ them
  9. I heard, from a nice sane person who saw the video, that obviously Ford had weakened the welds and loosened all the bolts in the Tundra.
  10. Sport Trac and Avalanche came long before the Fridgeline
  11. - 50 mistakes about Buick's heritage - bashing of their Ventiports on numerours occasions, no negative speak of anyone elses traits. - shameless Kia plug - Nissan jackass quote insulting Buick Nahh... perfectly balanced and fair journalism!
  12. Ahh... gotta love how the facts say something different than the claims made that Lexus has whisper quiet engines and Buicks sound like jackhammers (not quoted word for word and slightly modified for effect...). So... that doesn't really leave any area in which they fall short or "fail", now does it?
  13. I believe you're mising the point here... You're basically saying that to be considered a worthy opponent to Lexus, they must become Lexus and then push what Lexus is to a whole new level. But there's is one small proble with that: they are not Lexus, they are not "the American Lexus" (Lutz said that in order to kinda draw a parallel that people would understand, I think), they are *pause for suspense* BUICK. As a matter of fact, I believe that a better way of putting that whole Buick vs. Lexus thing would have been to say that Lexus is the Japanese Buick and still hasn't managed to get it quite right; but that would require all of the people that quick explanation was targeting to forget their misconceptions about the brand and their oh-so-80s "Japanese is better, always!" mentality. The two are different because the two are completely different brands: Buick is a niche brand, one that wants to build a real American car; Lexus, I can only describe as a Toyota you actually might aspire to someday own. So again, they're not the same because they are not meant to be. Nothing wrong with a little bit of contrast out in the world, especally between competition.
  14. Hi! Devil's Advocate here... So, why exactly are we jumping the gun and pulling the race card here? I mean, sure the guy at the dealer as a complete jerk; but from what I've read, the OP is only assuming it is a question of race, simply because he is African-American. Fact of the matter is, there could be a wide variety of rason for which he could have treated you in that manner, including past incidents we don't know about. So one should not automatically pull the race card, even if it is a guarenteed way to generate PC-bandwagon support for one's cause.[/Devil's Advocate] That said, sorry to hear the guy was such a jerk to you. I'd change dealers ASAP and let someone at GM know about i right away.
  15. What I would like to know is how a little growl from the engine (and I have decent experience with Buicks), could somehow render all of he rest of the QuietTuning package as useless to you. Why is it that you dmit that it is generally quieter than the competition, but then you claim the engine to be much too noisy, so QuietTuning is instantly stamped as a failure and the Lexus is better because the engine is quieter? I know it should be easy to understand your logic behind this: after all, you already have stated that Buick would never be as good as Lexus, no matter what.So of course this comes as no surprise! But I still can't understand how a person could argue that the Buick would need to beat the Lexus in ALL ways rather than most, just to be considered "on par". Also, I've heard the GM "deep growl" and I must say that it's not that loud; so the sound difference is more of a preference thing and would kind of fall right into the whole "classic American luxury" thing Buick is going for.
  16. Doesn't look like people who are providing their readers with "entertainement" more than anything...
  17. Megadeth (Anyone wondwering wtf, check the track listings of the album "Risk" )
  18. Ouch... that sucks... Well, good luck with everything! I'm sure it'll all work out for the better in the long run.
  19. Yeah, it i exactly the kind of thing I would expect from them... However, that still doesn't exactly make me want to laugh, at least not with him/them. I mean, what kind of a reply is that to anyone's e-mail? I would personally never EVER reply to ANYONE in such a way, regardless of what they told me. Sure, I might eloquently tell them to go fornicate themselves with a rusty fork, so to speak, but I would never actually insult a person or tell them to "f@#k off", when answering an e-mail about my site. It's just not professional and lakcs pretty much any business ethics at all. Maybe you should print out a few copies of that...

    Hi!

Hey guys, I'm back! 1 - Yeah, NB is a pretty good place to live, except in winter. Three feet of snow and -40-degree temperatures with winds of 80Km/h make life living hell during some less than fine winter days... *shudders* 2 - No it's not, but it looks exactly like it... 3 - I'm used to freaks, I've met plenty on other forums I'm a member of and have even had to pleasure of meeting a few in real life.
  21. Yeah, that's an old quote that I couldn't remember the origins of, but I believe that kinda still is what they're going for today. I do agree that they need to make money, but their biggest problem and something that keeps hindering their progress is the whole "legacy costs" thing. When you're paying pensions and healthcare to more former employees than you currently have emplyees on the payroll, you've got a problem. Add in the fact that they're stuck running the plants above certain minimums due to their antiquated contracts with the UAW, you've got another big problem. As far as products go, progress may be slow and gradual, but they are definitaly making a lot of it. It's taking time, but you can't expect them to pull a 360 overnight. When you're as big as they are, things just don't go that fast. And the biggest problem they face, as far as products go, is perception: they need to find a way to get people to forget their old misconceptions that are engraved deep into the consumer's (and even media's) minds. When I talk to people or read reviews and you'd think the Cobalt was a reskinned Cavalier (asuming they don't actually make such ridiculous claims), you know that they're not exactly going in with an open mind. The tone in which they speak or in which their article appears to written is also often very disrespectful and almost satyrical. Oh and, class-leading? They may not at the very top but: - Buick and Cadillac rank very high in quality and dependability - GM vehicles often get very good fuel economy compared to the rest of their class
