  1. Reg, I actually loved your responses, and tip my hat to you!!! Saved me a TON of typing. LOL We are actually more on the same page than I thought. (And probably more than you expected, too! :AH-HA_wink: ) One of my biggest beefs about girls who dress a certain way - totally hypothetical situation: chick dresses like that, gets drunk at a party and passes out , wakes up to find she's been sexually assaulted. Now, in a perfect world, she SHOULD be able to dress however she likes, she SHOULD be able to get totally drunk at a party, but to be surprised by the result? Not too bright. To me, its as stupid as falling asleep on the train tracks. My sense of right and wrong was absolutely triggered by this situation. I personally find socks and sandals offensive. Should someone be kicked off the plane because of it? Totally unacceptable. Truth told, when I heard the story without seeing the outfit, I thought here we go, totally revealing outfit, but her outfit wasn't that bad. Typical college student, typical outift, as someone pointed out, seen in any mall across the country. It is so interesting to see guys' opinions on how girls dress. Wouldn't you think the girls today think they are dressing in order to attract boys? And here you guys are not walking around in a state of constant arousal? That would probably shock most of the chicks out there.
  2. Reg, there is so much wrong with your original post that I don't even have the time to type it all in!!!!!!!! Society's treatment of how women dress has absolutely NOTHING to do with an airlines being WRONG and making a BAD judgement call. Mental note to self: blast Reg's post when I have the time. :angry2:
  3. No, no don't misunderstand. I mean that if BV has all the repairs done, he then would be operating under the assumption that everything was fixed, I used the quotation marks because BV isn't a mechanic, and if he was holding a bill for work done, he would expect it had been fixed, and nothing would be misrepresented. If I had bills for work done, I wouldn't even assume it WASN'T fixed. As I see it, there is a way for BV to sell the car without needing to misrepresent it. If he sold the car <as is> he wouldn't have to misrepresent, the designation itself implies that there are things wrong with the car, and the onus is on the buyer to make sure the car is road worthy. I don't know what its called in BV's state, but if there was such a thing, it's the way for him to go. C'mon guys, do you seriously think I was telling BV to lie his head off? Not even close!
  4. to be more serious with you BV, the amount you spent, and the amount you're going to get will make you sick to your stomach. i'm only familiar with my car market, but $2000 would probably be stretching it. You don't have to disclose anything, especially if you've had the repairs done, so as far as you know its been ""fixed"". In Ontario we have a "safetied"" car (where everything is inspected and up to code, so to speak) and an "<as is> category, where the car is sold with no warranties, express or implied, and its up to the buyer to get the car safetied. maybe your state has some version of the as is and you could sell it that way. Let us know how it works out for you (I feel a HUGE rant coming on from BV's direction!) Stacey
  5. That colour chart is sooooo cool! If i think about customers, and their personality traits and what colours they ultimately end up buying, there are really no surprises there. There is very little surprising about the colour preferences as well. The only thing I would add to silver's description is "loves the ability of dirt to blend right in and still retain the appearance of clean"
  6. Well, I'm no car salesman, but I'd say you want to edit your vehicle description. Oh wait.............................. yes I am!
  7. Congratulations Sly! I remember you posting about the emotional ups and downs you had with Marcia, I hope you have peace and harmony with Julie. I am truly happy for you! After all you've been through its so great to see you so content. I thought when you mentioned last week "big changes" and you'd let us in on it later, i thought, "wouldn't it be romantic if he got married?" well, it is! Congrats on the new baby too - Sophia will be THRILLED!
  8. carbiz, that was my first thought too. Then i figured if he meant the car came with a 5 year and they added 36 months, he's got an 8 year warranty. I'm not so sure on the "bumper to bumper"part for the duration, tho... so his original post made sense even though he's corrected it.
  9. Absolutely can be dealt down. (And i would educatedly guess, probably $300-$500) Like everything else at your dealership, warranties are marked up. Also, never buy the warranty with a deductible. If your business manager can give you comparative costs, and the dealership is consistent in its markup, three, maybe four visits are the difference between a deductible and not. That being said, your best bet is to purchase the warranty with the car. I know you can wait until the end of your factory warranty to purchase more, however, like everything else, the cost of warranty goes up every year, so you're likely to get it cheapest at time of purchase. Also, not sure about the US, but in Canada there is a point where you can ONLY purchase the deductible warranty once you drive the car off the lot, so you've narrowed your choices. Von, your warranty wasn't outrageous. $1500 for repairs up to 150,000? Really and truly, that's a good deal. You've got worry free driving for 8 years, and roadside if you need it. When you consider how much the cost of some of those repairs will have gone up in 7 years, you've in theory, locked in all your automotive repairs at today's prices. (we all know that $1500 in repairs can happen pretty fast when you factor in shop prices, so you definitely did okay!)
  10. Years ago I drove a Grand Am demo, in that colour, with the great rims, fake hood scoops for the ram air, tinted windows, and I almost got killed more than once staring at the car in picture windows while driving. I got so many compliments on that car! So, love it or hate it, definitely attention worthy. I found that awful yellow way more offensive. Not to mention, I always associate yellow vehicles with working for the hydro company.
  11. When my daughter started to drive, she couldn't drive my dealership demos. We took over an incredible lease on a Canyon, (yes, i have inside info - LOL) split the monthly payment, and she'll drive that until the lease is up. When that's done she's decided to purchase a good used car that she'll take to college. I promised to match her dollar for dollar, so she'll get something decent, but still feel like she bought it herself.
  12. way to go Delta, that's 2 minutes of my life I'll never get back.
  13. I must have misread the title, I thought it said "loss of a friend" and NOT "i'm a life destroying vengeful bitch when I don't get my own way" - sorry, my mistake.
  14. A, it IS maternity wear! She's pregnant with her second. And FYI, they're empire waistline, not bust line dresses. You guys are KILLIN' me!!!!!!!!!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOL
  15. Reg, I am DYING laughing here....... HAVE ... TO....STOP...LAUGHING.....AND.... REACCESS.... MY....WARDROBE..... LOLOLOL
  16. I've always felt that funerals/memorial services and the like are for the living. I think it would be devasting enough to lose a loved one, let alone have to throw a funeral and have nobody come. I've even been to funerals where I didn't even know the deceased, but am showing respect for someone close to them. And no, i'm NOT a funeral junkie! Just my thoughs......
  17. Its even harder to have the vehicles here and no books on them!
  18. Geesh Reg, you KNOW I can do that!!!!! Get your ass into the dealership and I'll hook you up with the perfect car! and.....confirmed. Buickman was so annoying (how annoying was he?) Well, have you ever tried to sleep with a fly trapped in your room? Or a really loud mosquito? Well, worse than that! Speaking of annoying - whatever happened to Harry that drove a Malibu?
  19. MAN! this thread is in no way shape or form related to its title - I hate that!
  20. Thanks for all your kind welcome backs! I remember all you guys (obviously some more than others) but its great to hear from everyone. You've all contributed one way or another to my being much smarter and better informed for tuning in! Glad to be back!
  21. OMG! Not only do I know all those songs you guys don't know - but my birth day song was "House of the Rising Sun" by the Animals. Okay, its true - I'm frickin OLD!
  22. Paulie! I am shocked! I thought you were a Buick man! LOL
  23. I don't even know if anyone on here will remember me, but I used to be a frequent guest. I still check in on the topics from time to time, but find myself not having the time to respond to anything! LOL When I started contributing to Cheers and Gears, I was in car sales for GM, later went on to be a Subprime Lender, then Lease Manager, and now Business Manager, at a Chev Pontiac Buick GMC Store. I still learn a ton from reading the posts on this site. Anyway, just wanted to say hi....
  24. absolutely YES! (considering I work at my dealership!) LOL I've only had two customers request that the dealership logo be left off, and one of them was my MOM for crying out loud.
