  1. SV6 – 3.6L V6, peak power 195kW, peak torque 340Nm, five-speed automatic or six-speed manual That sounds perfect. That's 262 horsepower and 251 lb/ft, btw.
  2. The dash material looks lovely.
  3. Looks like a car you'd use to transport someone very important in the back.
  4. After calming down a bit, I have to say it's not the freshest looking car in the world, but there's nary a line misplaced.
  5. Looking at our current Impala, Malibu, LaCrosse, Monte Carlo, and so on, I can't help but think... GM of NA doesn't understand what the NA people want. Do they really think our tastes are that bad? I wonder how much better off GM cars would be if they told Australia or Germany to do it all. Back to the VE, they better not "domesticize" it, a la Vectra to Malibu.
  6. Gimme, gimme, gimme! It's like halfway between Europe and America. It's slightly red-white-and-blue aggressive, but still old-worlde refined at the same time. It's a blue-collar M5. These would make such wonderful Pontiacs and Buicks.

Why??? This seems like a waste-of-money for something that won't impact sales. Who goes off-roading in a Suburban anyway?
  8. The Yukon XL, particularly the Denali, is screwed.
  9. Damnit, it's been "Loading" for the past 5 minutes. MSN sucks.
  10. Another thing... GMC is currently more upscale than Buick is. Denalis top $50K, while people rarely pay more than $30K for a Buick. The Enclave and Acadia reverse that.
  11. No, dumb sheeple buy RWD BOF TrailBlazers, when in fact roomier, more efficient, and less-prone-to-rollover unibody 'utes and minivans suit their needs better. This reminds me of that Commander v. Explorer comparison...
  12. Look for yourself... the Lucerne has a "marginal" structure and safety cage: http://www.iihs.org/ratings/rating.aspx?id=670 B-PILLAR TO LONGITUDINAL CENTERLINE OF DRIVER'S SEAT* (cm) Buick LaCrosse with side airbags model tested: 2006 -6.5 Buick Lucerne with side airbags model tested: 2006 -3.5 Chevrolet Impala with side airbags model tested: 2006 -11.0 Chrysler 300 with side airbags model tested: 2006 -6.0 Chrysler 300 without side airbags model tested: 2006 -5.5 Ford Crown Victoria without side airbags model tested: 2006 6.5 Ford Five Hundred with side airbags model tested: 2006 -11.5 Ford Five Hundred without side airbags model tested: 2006 -10.5 Hyundai Azera with side airbags model tested: 2006 -1.0 Toyota Avalon with side airbags model tested: 2006 -9.5 *Negative numbers indicate the amount by which the crush stopped short of the seat centerline.
  13. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww... please don't do that to yourself.

  15. As a piece of engineering, the Acadia looks brilliant, but sometimes you have to slap GM's product planners in the face. Anyone else concerned by the proximity of the Lambda and GMT900 launches? For most, the two constitute similar markets, and with just a 1 MPG city difference between the two, I can't help but think that perhaps GM would benefit more from, say, a really nice minivan, compact car, or cute 'ute. The Lambdas are worryingly big, IMO.
  16. Sounds like you're describing the W-bodies, not the G-bodies. The LaCrosse, Grand Prix, and Impala have unbelievably poor interior packaging, IMO. http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...ndpost&p=145807
  17. On what basis? Certainly not passenger cell strength (marginal)...

No, it's why new innovative product is so critical. You can market the hell out of a LaCrosse, but it still won't sell in So Cal.

Perhaps exclusively selling Chevies at a Chevrolet dealership isn't the best way to educate yourself on "the average consumer." You're inevitably restricted to a certain type of people... those who actually walk in. Think of the millions of consumers who won't consider a Chevy car or bother to enter a Chevy showroom. With the 'net, consumers are far more educated about cars than they were before.
  20. The list was created before those tests were conducted. But you could probably predict safety ratings just from conventional car wisdom.
  21. My dream Lambda: Outlook exterior with Acadia interior
  22. Holy f'in $h!... finally, an interior that looks AMAZING! Overall, the Acadia is a bit weak conceptually, but the execution is excellent.

To me, the interior looks mishmashed, boring, and tasteless, but regardless of my opinion, Caddy should be commended for their efforts. Extended leather on a mainstream luxury car is very impressive, and perhaps I'll like it more in person or with a different color scheme. I prefer it to the Cayenne, FX, and a bunch of other luxo 'utes.

    I like Chas's new hair.
  25. Wow, the interior IS nice. The grey, cream, and silver work well together. The steering wheel looks comfy, too.
