Edmunds: Jag XK v. BMW 650i
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...icleId=115853#2 This is the first 6-series I've seen in Alpine White, and it just looks amazing. The XK is even prettier, and it really grows on you the more you look. Even though Edmunds preferred the Bimmer, I'd take the Jag... just because it's purer and the fact it's not an "eighty-grand BMW".

Your opinion about the Chevrolet Uplander
I'd buy a Fairlane, but there'll be some redundancy in the line-up... Edge, Freestyle, Explorer, and now this. I wouldn't mind a Freestyle dressed up to look like a Fairlane.

Car and Driver Reviews G6 Convertible
Well, you should read the review yourself to be fair. Quiroga's comment was in their "Counterpoint" section.

Nissan, Renault Want GM Stake
It should be interesting what the two come up with their hybrid powertrain alliance. Edit: Also, Germans seem to take good care of the foreign brands they buy. Look at the MINI, RR Phantom, Continental GT, Range Rover, and 300C/Charger/Magnum. I'd be interested in BMW's idea of a Camaro... that I'd probably buy.

Cooking with Croc
I've been making pizza a lot recently... here's today's creation. Sausage, mushroom, tomato, tomato sauce, mozarella, ricotta, parmesan... One without mushroom or tomato... A day earlier I made Margherita pizza, which is mozarella, tomato, basil, garlic, and last Friday I made chicken garlic butter pizza, which is, like, really, really good. I just use the dough from Trader Joe's ($.99, enough for 2 pizzas), and because I don't have a pizza stone, I partially bake the crust before I put on the toppings... it seems like I can never get the crust nice and golden-brown without burning the cheese.

Car and Driver Reviews G6 Convertible
"High on style, this real smoothie comes with a right-on price." On the whole, Tony Swan thought favorably of the GTP convertible, saying that despite its flaws (body flex, torque-steer, overweight, gritty powertrain, rock-'n'-roll cornering), "[$30K] is an attractive price for an attractive boulevard cruiser with four-season usefulness." Tony Quiroga added "the G6 gets a passing grade because the rest of the class brings the average down, so what would usually be a nearly failing grade is slightly above average." Highs: Zoomy good looks, room for four, quiet in coupe mode, smooth ride. Lows: So-so performance, hints of cowl-shake, miniature trunk. The Verdict: A slick boulevardier with an attractive price, but autocrossers need not apply.

Somebody please close this thread... or at least move it to O-T, where it belongs.

2007 X3
I think this is the first BMW model to look different every year. Black exterior trim is back for '07, but to a lesser degree than the '05's. Changes... 3 liter 260 hp I6, standard 6-speed auto, no cost Brake drying, standby, start-off assist, fade compensation, adaptive brake lights DTC integral with DSC New dash material, door panels, steering wheel, wood, leather, comfort seats New front-end styling

I bought a....
Great choice... the Fusion is a great car. At $16K, it makes you wonder if Ford is making any profit.

Sweet CTS Sport I detailed at work
What you need now is a nice white Passat 3.6 with Low Ego Emissions. http://www.vw.com/passat/photos_vids.html "Mirror, Mirror" and "Honk" are hilarious.

Walking in NYC guess what I Saw?
It looks much better in blue than it does in grey. The Aura doesn't look European at all, despite the Opel cues, but it still looks very attractive in a long, sleek '90s Chrysler/'00s Peugoet sort of way.

Your opinion about the Chevrolet Uplander
Exactly. You explained it yourself below... it's not a class-leading product; it feeds on the bottom of the minivan market. When people have the money for something, they go for the best. GM appeals to those who don't. This is fine if the company is profitable, but face it, it's not an image anybody wants.

Employee Discount
In the real world, people base their decisions on ability, not ethics or sentimentalism. GM sells on product, not on some notion of patriotism. Want more buyers? Don't whine or bitch. Make better products. Have a $h!ty image? Change that through creative branding and planning. It's a market economy.

Employee Discount
Come to Southern California. You'd be lucky to get 7 people INTO a Buick showroom (or find a middle-class, 4 bed home for under $1,146,000...)

Tires
I've been happy with 225/55-16 Bridgestone Turanza LS-H's. They're the quietest tires I've ever driven on, and treadwear and grip are pretty good, too.

2007 Cobalt changes
Those are wheels from an aftermarket company. You can probably find some for Tire Rack or American Tire.

Your opinion about the Chevrolet Uplander
I agree... a modern Astro would be great. Minivans are uncool and full-size vans are too bulky; the Astro/Safari would be just right.
-
Your opinion about the Chevrolet Uplander
The Uplander is a "bottom feeder" van. People only buy them if they can't afford an Odyssey, Sienna, or even Town & Country.

TOYOTA tries to be more
But anyway, I don't care where my car is made or what country the corporation's stockholders are in. I just want the best for my money, and if that means outsourcing a GM car or buying a foreign brand, so be it. There's no use in complaining about unfair trade practices or whatever, as it is GM's own responsibility to stay on top. GM can compete if they stop making unwise decisions and begin utilizing technology and brainpower to out-cost the imports. Sure, GM has an uphill battle facing them after years of neglect, but their current whiny attitude will do them no good. edit: I know it's a cliche, but remember, it's survival of the fittest...

TOYOTA tries to be more
If you're talking about the US Aveo, that's irrelevant, as that ignores the millions of Impalas, HHRs, Malibus, Monte Carlos, and other Chevies made in North America. That's like saying Toyota is "not American" based soley on the fact that the Prius is made in Japan.

More realworld photos of the 2007 SRX interior.
From what I've seen so far, there's nothing about it that's any more impressive than the interior from, say, an Accord, IMO.
