  1. An even better example of why I'm critical of the GS. And one that's more readily acceptable than the anecdotal LS1 evidence... (and I'm pretty sure the Regal could achieve 35 MPG highway if driven like a little old lady) Dude, I have gotten 32 mpg with a 405 hp LS6 by shifting just above 2000 rpm and taking 60 seconds to reach 60 mph. Am I a granny?
  2. The wagon got delayed because of the bankruptcy, otherwise would have been released prior to June 1, 2009 - the official bankruptcy date.
  3. I won't call it disappointing, GM should not portray it as a uber-performance vehicle. The problem is the weight of the Epsilons, the platform is about 300-400 lb too heavy. Car and Driver will knock 0-60 to low 6 for sure. For what the car is in the class it will play it can stand on its own. Audi A4, Acura TSX, VW CC, Lincoln MK-whatever, and lower Volvo S-60 have something to worry about.
  4. I forgot one more number: Camaro 3.6 - 0-60 5.9 sec (Car and Driver) (GM number - "under 6 seconds") Regal GS - GM number - 6.7 sec Contrary to you Camino, however, I like the GS, but for different reasons.
  5. I am going to throw one out there: Camaro 3.6 - V6, RWD, 312 hp, 278 lb-ft torque, 3,741 lbs, 29 mpg Regal GS - I-4, FWD, 270 hp, 295 lb-ft torque, 3,671* lbs, 28 mpg* * - Estimated Any more argument about I-4>>>V-6, and FWD>>>>>>>>RWD when it comes to fuel efficiency?
  6. Honestly - None. GM has left something desired for me. It just feels the GM vehicles have lost soul.
  7. We cannot say "Standard of the World" and "Too Ambitious" in the same sentence. If Cadillac needs to be on TOP of the World, then those cars are essential, granted later down the lane for Cadillac. Bentley competitor may be even economically feasible if it shares the platform with the Fleetwoood, thus making high price, low volume and high profitability more sense.
  8. What is interesting in smk's proposal is that he is offering no direct competition to S classe's 63, 600 and 65 cars in V recipe. I personally do not think Caddy should go below ATS. That is where Buick should be with various Astra and Corsa body styles. A couple of questions: What about a Bentley sedan fighter? A Mid engine sports car to go against Gallardo, R8, SLS and F458?
  9. Anyone else who would like to dig in?
  10. Good Starting Point smk. There are some configurations that I would defer to, nevertheless a valid lineup.
  11. What do you think an ideal Cadillac Lineup should be? Please include: Vehicle Type (sedan, coupe, roadster, etc.) and (entry level sedan, mid-size, etc.) Price Bracket for the vehicle type Engines and transmission options for each vehicle type Drive wheels configuration for each vehicle type (FWD, RWD, 4x4, AWD) Let us get our creative juices flowing.

    Cadillac died!

The 3.6L V6 is a "High Feature" engine and, as such, has always been a GM engine, designed for all brands. The Northstar engine was an ARCHITECTURE designed for Cadillac...as was the HT-series and the V8s before them. "Engines are becoming accessories" is the problem here. BMW has inline sixes that are exclusive to BMWs. Mercedes-Benz engines are not found in any other significant vehicles (niche exotics don't really count...or enhance the exclusive quality of the engines). Cadillac engines were desired. Cadillac engines powered hotrods ("Studelac") and sports cars (Allard). Today, the same basic architecture found in the CTS powers the Chevrolet Malibu. Not anymore Hudson. Peugeot-Citroen and BMW have PRINCE engine architecture. MB and Nissan-Renault are jointly developing engines. I strongly maintain that both those luxury manufacturers are on life support for survival as independent luxury manufacturers or close to it unlike the perception they are giving out. Audi is already VW's dollar hooker on a penny night. Lexus and Acura - let us not go there. I guess Cadillac is ahead of the game when it comes to cost sharing compared to BMW and MB.
  13. I paid LESS in insurance for my 2002 Z-06 than I pay for my BMW 330i so no insurance is NOT a factor. And I was in my 20's when I had the Corvette.
  14. I have heard many horrid stories about that generation CR-V when it comes to A/C going bust.

    Your MPG

It also can be the gas you put in it. I've noticed that I ALWAYS get better fuel economy when I drive home from NH. My friends always said the same thing. Maybe it has something to do with driving "south" so, equator helps you Fixed.
  16. True- Too many here always believe the grass is greener over the fence/border, dismissing the grass here because it's 'here grass'. These would be the first group to damn the abandonment of the Corvette's heritage when it didn't show any bump in volume (as if the Corvette chasing volume was in anyway an advisable approach). I would like to reiterate, again, that none of these armchair critics still get who the real customers of Corvette are.
  17. Answer to that is yes too. I remember there was a fan fare of the first dealership in California.

  22. That would sell well in Libya. The electronics in the car may be more expensive than the car itself.
  23. ^^We may see a new one pretty soon. Scheduled as a MY 2013.
  24. Durango and Cherokee are vindication of what a good RWD biased SUV platform can do. GM are you listening?
