  1. We will all die before the W-bodies do. But keeping the car current with all the investments paid for and bringing GM a profit is not a bad thing.
  2. Honestly - it is cost cutting. By having the lock button in the center you do not need two on the either passenger door. Any of the front passengers can reach them.
  3. Cadillac's comparison to its competitors and following their path to win sales in Europe may not be optimal. There are "German Engineering" cars and there are "Japanese Engineering" cars and heck there are even "Korean Engineering" cars, despite of their own market is minuscule compared to world market. But what are "American Engineering" cars? Where is the American identity? Where is the perception of an American car? Even in the United States their identity is being lost by creating vanilla products result of blind benchmarking. While trying to pursue other manufacturers and other markets there is no identity remaining of our cars. Find American cars identity, build them, advertise them and then sell them, may be that can really help Cadillac rather than being another BMW wannabe. Path may be more tortuous but may be more rewarding. You have to create a sense of American engineering and boast about it. I am not saying floaty ride big vehicles, but create a perception, create an image to sell cars of all sizes and shapes that is distinctly American rather than chasing tails of competitors. We all know German solid engineering is a perception, Japanese build quality is a veneer. We need some American attributes to sell these vehicles.
  4. Dwight, what about at least a V8 for the trucks and high performance vehicles?
  5. Corey congratulations. Is it the GT with turbo or the Limited with V6? Did you get manual transmission? Give us some details. The GT with 6 speed manual transmission was a blast to drive.
  6. Corvette has really reached a stratospheric price. I have been letting it know all along. 2005 Corvette started at under $43K. The current one starts at under $49k. 16% price jump in 6 years is a lot. Given the cost of development of a TT3.6 compared to a Gen V Small block, I do not think it would be a suitable option if the price is to be lower.
  7. Hey WMJ, I hope you performed thorough Finite Element Analysis and CAD of the system using your blazing fast 8086 with 2mb ram, 512kb video card, 3200 rpm 16mb HDD, supercomputer using Pascal language.
  8. that rumble = And I am still truly happy they named the car after me I do not see Camaro Pedro anywhere . Although it rhymes.
  9. You know, the notion of a "factory lightweight" in 2012-2014 has a certain appeal. That is why I said so. GM is getting bashed for the pork recently. Time to have the lightest yet most desirable GM cars in the class they compete.
  10. Happy Birthday.
  11. Kappa 2.0? Me likes. GM is showing some hope.
  12. If you want made in USA - go for Trek - albeit not all the models.
  13. Hah, OK...but no, it was not taken in the spot you mentioned. Yes I am off.
  14. Attachment points. I forget. Though I imagine many of the Walgreens in the nation look like that. True, but my dear Watson, there is a small detail I saw tells me where it is.
  15. On Color - may be you should get the Purple that PCS had for his GXP.
  16. What are the indentations in the rocker panel area? Chris, where did you shoot it? 17, 18 mile area? That Walgreens looks awfully familiar.

    XTS Spy Shots

I think we have to remember that this is a Fritz car. There were plans for a Zeta Caddy flagship (remember DT7??) that GM abruptly cancelled "due to CAFE", along with the Zeta Buick and the Zeta Impala. That's probably the case. This could either be the vehicle that keeps the lights on at Cadillac and pays for the ATS, CTS, et al. Or it could be the car that keeps the seat warm until a legitimate large RWD Caddy is ready. True it is a Fritz car, but GM saw a case to make money out of it, seeing a market there. In its hey days the DTS sold in large volumes to the blue haired customers with virtually no competition, these people do not want a Buick and hence the car. I think in someways GM is listening and giving its customers what they want. And not everyone wants a back crushing suspension or need for RWD. Like SRX the car can have a place so as long there is a true S-Classe, 7er crushing flagship.

    XTS Spy Shots

Back to XTS, like the car, GM's strategy has been ambiguous. The car is good, but why spend the efforts - when it would have been an ideal Buick flagship. Caddy does need volume no doubt, and possibly this car is a temporary effort to give a temporary push in volume to get enough money for further R&D.

  20. Well blu knubby is good. Congo-rats on your way.
  21. A debate structure sounds interesting. What really matters is what each of us thinks, leaning on "sources", or "parties" is what creates all the strife in the first place. I prefer those who think for themselves. Well said. Many a times changing the rules of games is the solution rather than working within their limits.
  22. Actually the use of a tach is beist for a heel-toe downshifting a stick-shift that is about it. Based on the engine speed of a higher gear one can estimate the speed for the lower gear he/she wants to shift into. As far as upshift is concerned, I agree with SAM that engine noise can do the job. Good idea Dwight.

    Soundcard

What soundcard would you recommend for a 5.1 channel system? It does not matter whether it is PCI or PCI-E. I have read good reviews about Asus Xonar Essence XTX. but also have read that it is geared for headphones and some have experienced problems with 5.1 digital sound. Can a 5.1 channel system be "converted" to a 7.1 by adding two speakers?
  24. Those must certainly be marked up. The most the CTS-V coupe can go for with factory options is $71,320 + Gas Guzzler Tax of $1,326. Unless it is a Black Diamond edition.
