  1. I think you need to be happy with whatever you get... And that seems like oversimplification, but it's true. The past 2 times I've bought a daily driver, I've caved to 'logic' over emotion and I pay the price for it. The Focus ZX3 was an awesome little car that I enjoyed, but I bought it to be economical when I really wanted another pony car. When the Focus got totaled, they gave me $h! for a settlement, so I thought; "Well, if I'm going to have to buy high mileage, I might as wel get something I can have fun with." So I bought my '01 Mustang GT. It's a lovely car, but in order to get something in my price range I made a compromise I swore I wouldn't make and bought a slushbox. Now I kick myself about that almost every day. I guess I've been pretty happy. The Focus was awesome in its own way (It was so nimble, and it was a stick, so it was more engaging than the Mustang) The Mustang is a cool cruiser that sounds great and has a lot of power (compared to the Focus) but it's still a compromise. I guess my point is: don't rush into anything.
  2. We have a lot of cars that are excellent cars for the money (unlike a few years ago when EVERYTHING was crazy priced) but the 'pedigree cars' are still pretty outrageous. I used to aspire to 'pedigree cars' but a lot of our cars are so nice that I'd be afraid to enjoy them. Hell, I've been afraid to get MY cars out for 2 years now, much less a 100K + piece.
  3. A couple of my main write ups this week. Numbers matching 1970 Mustang Mach 1 http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/inventory/132541?type=active 2009 Mr. Norm's Garage Legends Cuda number 1 http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/inventory/132524?type=active
  4. Thanks for all the info! Unfortunately, I do not have anywhere near the clout to arrange a test drive. They're really strict about the cars (which, I don't blame them) and I've only been there 6 weeks. I will keep an eye on it. I really doubt it'll sell before it gets posted and it needed some minor work so it might be a bit before it is posted. If it does sell, there is an entire exit process the truck will have to go though, so I should have advance warning in time to snap some photos. When they do the booth shots, I'll try to get you some of those as well. The reasons I am shying away from taking shots right now is 1) the lighting in the second building isn't that great and 2) it was towed to us on an open trailer, so it needs to be cleaned and detailed to be at it's best. (iPhone photos are so grainy that you can hide stuff like that) I'm pretty sure that this is the first GMC RK Motors has sold
  5. Yes, we sell cars on eBay. I don't know much about the A12s unless one of them is the mostly original green car which I almost had the chance to write up.
  6. That sounds more like it. Neither one of us could confirm or deny that 'story' which was provided by the owner. I told the consignment manager; "I bet a know a couple guys who can"
  7. I certainly will. I'll be the one writing it up. Right now it's not on my schedule yet (I'm booked through Wednesday of next week) so it might be a while. The consignment manager told me that it has a Pontiac V8 in it because GMC thought the Chevrolet V8 was weak and sourced from Pontiac instead. he asked me if I know anything about it and I said "No; I just know it looks pretty and that model line is probably my favorite GMCs."
  8. Yes. RK Motors Charlotte That building is our sold and incoming inventory.
  9. Pardon the crappy iPhone pix. It'll probably be published to our site sometime next week.
  10. Nice! I'd like to add that to my list. And this:
  11. My holy grails.... Hmm, that's a hard one.... Just off the top of my head: For Oldsmobile: 1) The above pictured car 2) The '48 Olds 3) Both of the Auroras 4) Or this car: http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/inventory/132497?type=active (1970 Oldsmobile 442 W30) For Buick: 1) A '54 or a '57 2) Definitely; hands down this 1960 model: For Cadillac: 1) A new CTS-V coupe or sedan 2) Naturally a '59 3) A '63 or '62 like this: For GMC probably this '55: For Pontiac: 1) A '55 or '56 Silver Streak 2) A '65 Grand Prix or Bonneville 3) Then there's the '65 or '66 Catalina 4) The '66 and'67 GTO and '69 or '70 GTO. 5) The '71-'73 Firebird 6) The '98-'02 Trans Am 7) The Solstice coupe. Oh and naturally this: (which was sitting next to the Ninety Eight pictured -- I was in heaven!) With Chevrolet, it becomes even harder... 1) The '51 2) The '55-'57 shoe boxes. 3) The early years of the Advance Design trucks, including the Surburban. 4) The '59 and '62 Impala and '59 El Camino 5) The '66, '67 and '70 Chevelles 6) The '66 and '67 Nova. 7) The '67-'73 Camaros obviously since I own one of each generation (and maybe the ZL1; haven't seen it yet) 8] The Apache 9) The '69 era Chevy trucks. 10) The '58-'62 C1 Corvettes,'63 C2 Sting Ray, '70-'72 and'80-'82 C3 Corvettes, the current Z06 and ZR1 As for Ford and Dodge and the smaller makes.... Off the top of my head and very basic and quickly: The original SRT-8 Charger and the new Charger... The last generation SRT-8 Grand Cherokee The early '60's Continental The Tucker.... And I can't think of anymore right now.
  12. I snapped these at a car show earlier this year... Absolutely GORGEOUS car!

    KILLED

*"DON'T BE A PUSSY YOU NANCY BOY!!!"* *"GET YER ASS ON THE BIKE AND GIVE ME 5 MORE MILES!!!!"* lol, just thought I would try to help "motivate" you.
  14. Okay 1) balthazar: that's freakin' awesome! If I knew 20% of what you know about vintage iron, I'd be happy. And 2) ocnblu: that's the funniest $h! I've seen in a long time!
  15. I think it's fun to do the same thing... But I try not to get cocky because I'm afraid I'll get slapped down for it. I feel like I'm aging well, but I fear that someday I'll be one of those people that ages 5 years in the span of one year just because I stress out so much. I really hate the concept of time though and feel as if it is my enemy because, in my opinion, nothing good comes from change. And time is CONSTANT change. The reason I don't do change well is because for some reason I have this 'need' to control EVERYTHING in my life (My friends call it my 'god complex') I feel that I have my 30s left before things really start to go downhill... (What a horrible mindset, right) I'm already getting gray in my goatee (a little bit) and it makes me think of this old guy that used to be one of my office's investment clients. He had this awesome silver goatee and would actually get paying gigs as an Uncle Sam character. Part of me can't wait to be this gnarly old dude that looks like a cross between Lemmy and James Hetfield and bitches about new music and new cars not being "half what it/they used to be." Then again, if I could get away with it, I'd probably look like Rob Zombie all the time. LOL. But I have to keep a job.
  16. I actually like this thing a lot. http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/inventory/132021?type=sold
  17. WHOA! I actually jumped a little bit when I saw that thing. Make them an offer; see what they say.
  18. Nice! I'd take a Z06 over a ZR1 anyday.
  19. I hate cell phone drivers. I try not to talk on the phone while driving as well. I DO find it funny that everyone is up in arms about "holding cell phones" right now (at least here in NC) "We're going to make it where NO ONE can hold a cell phone while driving" Umm, yeah... I'm pretty sure the distraction comes from the CONVERSION the person is having on the cell phone, not holding the cell phone itself. LOL
  20. On second thought; If I did the orange, I'd do one of two things.... I'd option it with white or silver fender stripes and chrome wheels -OR- I'd option it with graphite gray fender stripes (not sure of the official name) and gray wheels. If those options are available. I can't get the horrible Chevrolet site to work well, so... Edit: BINGO: Orange with gray wheels and stripes: http://www.corvetteconti.com/blog/?p=9599 Not as impressive as I thought it would be, but it'd be cool to see in person and consider. I'd also option a Cyber Gray car with graphite wheels and silver stripes. http://www.easyautosales.com/used-car-photos/2011-Chevrolet-Corvette-Z16-Grand-Sport-w/3LT-33671997.html I've probably been no help at all, LOL Here's a thread with tons of pics if you want to browse: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-corvette-general-discussion/2510109-grand-sport-picture-thread.html
  21. I LOVE the orange; it's actually one of my favorite Corvette colors... And I guess I'm in the minority here, but I also love the chrome wheels. The Grand Sport wheels are one of the few GM wheel designs that I wouldn't swap out for aftermarket units. That said; I do think the Grand Sport looks best in the red with silver GS stripes or Black with silver GS stripes.
  22. I usually try to speed in a group and am usually the 2nd or 3rd car. (the first car is radar bait, the last is the one that gets pulled. I'm always VERY alert about my surroundings though, in general (maybe it's paranoia -- I actually once watched a guy bar hop and 'stalk' my fiancé and her friend thru 3 bars... And not the "I'm looking to pick up chicks" thing; he was actually hiding behind corners and acting weird. My fiancé knew I was in the same neighborhood as her (I was hanging with the boys) but never even knew this guy was following them) and especially in cars. For example, I usually know if a car has been following me for an unusual amount of time. I once watched a Volvo in my mirror for almost my entire 2 hour trip to Charlotte. It's not really an anxiety thing... It's more an "I'm bored and have nothing more stimulating to do" thing. I'm a psychology major and a people watcher by nature.
  23. Ah yes, how well I remember your pristine Formula Hawk. If only I had the money... We also have an 02 SLP Camaro SS with only 30 miles on it. I actually DID get to write that one up. The leather on the drivers seat is barely even creased.
  24. It's already sold. The past few days we've been upgrading to a new system and I've had the 'tedious honor' of tweaking old inventory (running it through spellcheck to get the formatting as close to readable as possible) I've found some really cool cars. I'll try to post more when I get my head back above water BTW, Camino we have a nice Firehawk on the showroom floor right now. http://inventory.rk-motors.com/CarDetails.asp?VIN=132328
