  1. So what gives? Started on the shadow yet? Chris
  2. The economy is falling on its face. Luxury cars will be one of the first things to go. Chris
  3. That would account for a good bit of it. I wish the Astra well and may even end up with one in the driveway. Contrary to what a couple of other people have posted here, IMHO it is a wonderful car and a brilliant decision at GM. Just hope people with money in their pockets agree with me. Chris
  4. The real future of Scion? I see the whole thing coming apart at the seams, seriously. There just doesn't seem to be much real interest in the new xB or the xD, and the TC is fading rapidly in sales. What do you all seriously see happening here? Chris
  5. How did GM convince its dealers to accept a car that was going to sell at 30-40k a year vs. the Ion that was selling at like 150k a year? Won't this be a lot of lost sales for Saturn? Chris
  6. Off topic, there is a local E-350 diesel with over a million miles on it. My old neighbor had a F-150 that was 700,000 plus. High mileage domestic trucks are not a rare thing. But this is cool none the less. Maybe I can get 300,000 plus out of my Safari! Chris
  7. I wonder if it will out distance that 2.6 million mile Volvo. Chris
  8. CR has started calling Toyota to account which is a good thing. Chris
  9. Chrysler needs to have one small and one midsized product period and put their design efforts into those two cars. Caliber/Avenger/Sebring/PT Cruiser et all should be reduced to just two cars. Actually the powertrain and engeneering in this car is impressive. Starting to think the Caliber just needs to be the right color to look better. In black the angualrity of the car seems to die down and it looks a little softer, which helps it. Just my two cents, Chris
  10. I actually thought the reviewer should have been kinder to the Chrysler product. they seemed to have some below the surface doubts about the G6 but still put it in first place. Chris
  11. As an aside it is amazing how much we waste environmentally by building big flashy buildings and then tearing them down. In ten or 15 years those buildings will be "dated" and they will be torn down to build the next white elephant. Chris
  12. There is a 70 Cutlass ragtop for sale here in Columbus with those stupid 26" wheels and 4 tv sets and all the other Gangsta crap...I want so bad to go buy that car and save it. But the $13,000 they want for it is too much for a project car. Chris
  13. Enjoy the HHR. Great vehicle, can't beat a small wagon like that with a family. Chris
  14. Ditto on the brake thing, otherwise pretty bulletproof. Chris
  15. Mobil 1 it may well be. The dealer inspection thing makes sense also, they would know what usually goes wrong. Thanks! Chris
  16. Find someone who can weld-it doesn't need to be pretty. I wouldn't drive the car long distance, however. Chris
  17. Being a fan of GM, Mazda and MINI I thought it was a great month. Was really glad to see Hyundi and Kia down bigtime. Chris
  18. Again, diesels would make great sense in the HUMMER lineup. Fuel costs will be huge for truck owners, and there are lots of people who need trucks for buisiness reasons. the sooner GM can get more diesels to market the better. Chris
  19. When it comes to spin from the automotive media I never understimate the products of my bowls. Chris
  20. I think you hit it 100%. The economy is in the craphouse, and people aren't buying cars like people had hoped. Glad to see GM has cut back production and fleeting, they may be the best positioned of the domestic big three to weather the storm. Chris
  21. I think the farmer that drives it is the same guy who raises all those little ears of corn you get in Chinese food... Chris
  22. Our 97 Safari has 132,000 miles and after almost selling it I've decided to keep it. Other than fluid changes, keeping it clean and clear of Ohio road salt, and making sure it gets regular excercise what do you suggest to keep this thing "on the road?" Chris
  23. Visit your local Nissan dealer. There will be no shortage of Horse Manure, even if it is in a large city. Chris
  24. Maybe I need to hang out on church street then. Chris
  25. One of the things Oldsmoboi, Balt, Sixty Eight and others here are making me aware of is how Japanese "luxury" cars don't really have the feel/features/heritage of a real luxury car. I can put up with a cheap interior if I spend $5k on a used 96 Miata for a weekend car. In a $35k "luxury" car like Lexus or Acura or Infinity the Japanese (I am finally seeing) really can't compete. Also realizing how cheap/featureless the interiors of other "upscale" cars like the EVO and STI are also. Wondering if maybe some of youyr Canadian comrades are feeling the same thing. A Toronto Lexus dealership would not be high on my "to own list" right now. With the dollar so weak though, why would Americans go to Canada to buy a car? Also, aren't there a million legal and tax issues for moving a north of the border car south? Chris
