  1. Anything Chinese.
  2. Keep the Stang until something better than either of those two comes along. I might have a different opinion if the T/A was a manual...
  3. I suppose I could rent it out...
  4. Yeah, I certainly have plans on how I'll use it if I end up finishing it. I'm thinking about a large slide-in camper among other things. ...and the Jag doesn't need to break - it's already down.
  5. Mileage on Mustang? Mileage on orange thing?
  6. Gave it a really good flushing, a major cleaning, replaced the radiator and heater control valve, but still have HVAC troubles. And now the power windows are fried. At least it's running nice and cool now.
  7. My "last chance" ad generated a couple of calls, so who knows? But I still expect that I'll end-up finishing the truck.
  8. I could see the bottom stamp a bit better in the daylight, and according to this site: http://www.zippoclick.com/collecting/dateCodes.aspx My lighter was made between 1949 and 1957 in Bradford,PA. pat# 2517191 is tamped on the left, with "Pat Pend" on the right
  9. Wow! Yeah, I'd do that trade. I had no idea these were so valuable.
  10. I have a very old Zippo that was presented to my grandfather by the Radnor Hunt (very old fox hunting club). He rode with them and was admired for his horsemanship and gentlmanly demeanor by the blue-bloods that made up (and still make up) the membership. My grandfather didn't smoke, so it has hardly been used, and has medallion (fox hunting scene) affixed to the front. I can't make out all of the info on the bottom of the case (I'll have to get a magnifier). But I can see that it says: made in ZIPPO usa Just like that, with Zippo in the middle. Have to tell you though, I have no idea of the value of these lighters.
  11. You will probably get your wish.
  12. Posted a "last chance to buy it" ad on CL today. I'll give it a week at most, then I'm diving in.
  13. By all means, post some new pics.
  14. Wish I could - have to work.
  15. I won't say no to that!
  16. I have the supplier's website on another tab....
  17. Not for sure just yet, but the moment I order a stainless bolt kit for it the truck is no longer for sale.
  18. Did a little research and now know where on the frame the VIN can be found.
  19. There should be a VIN # stamped on the top of the trans housing at the back of the block. I told him to try to find an old registration for the car, and I plan to crawl all over the thing again - I'll find the VIN. As far as original paperwork goes, I don't think he has it as he bought the car used. I may hit you up for the name of that company. All true.
  20. Big block ragtop.... temptation city. But the thing is, I wasn't looking for this car - it came to me. It's such a good story that I hate to let the deal fail. Plus, it's a real 44k mile original that hasn't moved in 30 years. I doubt I'd find anything like that again. I haven't given up yet. As you say, it would still have some value with a replacement VIN plate. But my plans for it might have to change if that's the case.
  21. Lots of possibilities there, Stang. I'm pretty sure I know where one of the "hidden" VINs is. And I know this can be done, but if the car has to be re-vinned it will trounce its value. We'll see what happens.
  22. Dug into the dash and removed the aftermarket stereo. I think the HVAC controls could have been damaged when it was put in. The housing is broken on one side for sure, but I'll have to get it out of the dash to have a look at the back.
  23. `To be honest, I hadn't yet looked for the VIN plate. He couldn't find it on the car, and hasn't found it elsewhere either yet. Unless this all gets sorted out - he can't even junk the car in this state. I will wait and see what happens.
  24. I picked-up a new radiator, heater control valve, and A/C relay today. On a whim, I checked the fuse/relay block under the hood and the A/C relay was missing. I found it in the pocket of the driver door and plugged it back in. I now seem to have some air coming out of the defroster vents. Now, someone has rigged the relay with a bare wire bridge between two of its terminals for some reason - so I bought a new one. I'm about to see what that does for me. The heater control valve has been suspect from day one so I bought that too. And, I know that the radiator is leaking so both are on my agenda for Sunday (or sooner if I get inspired).
  25. He thinks he may have removed the VIN plate when he was working on the car - 30 years ago. Otherwise, yeah, he could file for lost title. He's double checking. I'm waiting.
