  1. I seem to remember reading that Holden is planning to dump the Daewoo stuff...
  2. Well, I have to confess that what they do with the FWD cars doesn't interest me much. It does seem, however, that they are trying to create a more exclusive niche for the RWD cars in each given market while expanding the number of markets they sell in to preserve overall volume. I could see it working.
  3. Drove it again today - no drama. But I still want to get to the bottom of the mystery.
  4. I have no argument with either point. Even the article mentions that the Holden Epsilon car may be called something other than Commodore. It is probably more accurate to say that current Commodore volume will be split between Zeta II and Epsilon. That would give the home market more choices and allow greater exports of the new Zeta.
  5. Seems my gut isn't so far off.
  6. Drove it, checked it, drove it again, checked it again - nothing. It refuses to leak. I do have a theory of sorts though. This was a Dexcool vehicle originally, and some of what seems to be oil might be Dexcool sputem. The radiator was recently replaced before I bought the truck, and I think one of the tanks may have been cracked during the install. Now, the engine oil cooler runs through that tank as well, so that may be part of the problem. Once it gets good and hot, I think the crack opens up and sprays coolant and/or oil all over the place. My short drives didn't reproduce the condition, but that's the only theory I have right now. The truck has other, separate, issues that are related. The exhaust is often full of water vapor, so I think it may need intake gaskets. I have all but ruled out a head gasket problem. So a cooling system overhaul may be in the cards, and while I'm at it I'll see what I can do about the mess the previous owner made of the HVAC system. I'd love to pinpoint/reproduce the massive leak first though. EDIT: That, and a good pressure washing.
  7. I think I'm going to go get some high-octane coffee and see if I can figure this out.
  8. Not a bad thought. I think I'll run it until it gets warm, and see if that get the leak going again. I just don't see how a leak that big could just stop - very odd.
  9. That's just it, I'm trying to find the source and fix it, but the whole underside is oil-covered. Now the damn thing won't leak so I can find the problem.
  10. It's been hibernating in the barn for a few months now due to a massive oil leak. I've been enjoying driving the wagon, so I haven't done anything about it until a few weeks ago. I filled it up with oil and moved it over a clean part of the floor to try to locate the leak. Now I have run it and let it sit in the same spot for most of a month. Guess what? No freakin leak! How the hell does that happen? The entire font undercarriage is soaked with oil from when this happened, yet now it doesn't leak. Have to get to the bottom of this.
  11. Could be.
  12. Some Jersey politicians decided that the citizenry wasn't capable of pumping gas safely.
  13. I'm alot less trusting these days, and it's not just the government watching your transactions...
  14. I used debit cards almost exclusively for a long time, along with DD and automated payments. Now it's cash whenever possible, coming in and going out. Too many screwups with the electronic transactions, both by me and the bank. I am enjoying the privacy and immediacy of using cash. I really don't want to leave electronic footprints everywhere.
  15. I've been making a concerted effort to deal in cash only.
  16. I want that Nurburgring trip! Give us that Veyron, SMK!
  17. Sadly close to the truth.
  18. Nah, the Vette is a right now kinda thing. The Stude is just a cool fantasy.
  19. DOHC is not better, nor more advanced, than a pushrod engine. It is however, larger, harder to package, more complex, and less efficient. And that last point is the achilles heel. GM is smarter than that I hope, in that they still decide on drivetrains based on RESULTS, rather than fashion. Lauding DOHC and high transmission gear counts is simply absurd. Show me the results, that's what matters.
  20. Cool. I've seen plenty of coupes, sedans, and wagons, but never another 2-door wagon. I'd love to own it.
  21. ...and I'd agree with all of that.
  22. Actually, I'm feeling pretty upbeat. I've enjoyed those discussions and love fall weather! It may not just be you, but I'm not feeling a bad vibe.
  23. a 2-door Studebaker Lark wagon! First one I've even heard of since I was a tiny kid and we had one.
