  1. The piling on against Pontiac around here really alienated members. That conduct is where the acrimony came from. It was not directed at GM as some claim, it was directed at Pontiac and the people who owned and enjoyed them. All of that activity disrupted each positive thread, thereby ruining it. A few members are responsible for perpetuating this, and it has been a net negative for the site as a whole. Now I ask again, can we stop now?
  2. I do miss colorful interiors, they really could add to car's cohesiveness designwise.
  3. Scarlet Swordfish has a pretty good sense of the general shape I think the nose would have taken.
  4. I suspect that the wheels would have been a cross between the Riviera T-Type wheel and the 10th Anniversary Trans Am wheel.
  5. This. MDM: Your design is slick and attractive with the updated touches, it just would not have happened back then. The fender vent wouldn't have been there either. Not a criticism, just an observation. So far, DF's design is the most realistic IMO.
  6. The conduct surrounding it was a major factor in my resignation from the C&G staff. When Olds was killed, none of this sort of thing went on. We comiserated and we celebrated the history of Oldsmobile. GM issued the "Final 500" to mark the end in a respectful way. With Pontiac, it was disrespect all around - from GM to the very "fans" on this site. It really poisoned the well for me. So, can we stop it now?
  7. It was the 70s, colors like that were the norm.
  8. Thanks for all of the input guys, but things may have shifted a bit. Still dealing with the BS from the bank, planning an end-run around those incompetent twits. I may not be able to snag this truck in time.
  9. Don't crucify me, but I think the Cobalt is better looking.
  10. I believe it is "view new content" on the top of each page.
  11. I'd love to do that! I'll let you know once I have the date/time nailed down. Wish that guy would call me back...
  12. Yeah, I've been there before. But it would be nice not to have to do it that way. WTH is Jersey thinking?
  13. Still waiting on the buyer to tell me which branch of the bank we are going to, but the other truck is near exit9 of the NJ turnpike.
  14. Crossing the bridge makes it a bit more risky, and the roads on both sides of the river are state cop territory. I found that new set of wheels, now let's see if I can bring them home or not. Not feeling too patient about now.
  15. I have no intention of starting a debate or an argument here, so I'll just make a statement. I have never been more angered in my entire time at C&G than I was by the "excitement" thread and its subsequent spill-over into any later Pontiac thread. It ruined things here for me to a large extent in that any topic related to Pontiac quickly morphed into mockery and abuse. A rational discussion of one of my favorite subjects became impossible. I sincerely hope that all of that can be relegated to the past now. I love Pontiacs, and I enjoy talking about them. So I'd like to be able to do it unmolested.
  16. I just found out that it can't be done because NJ is too ass-backward to issue temp tags.
  17. That would be a matter of opinion.
  18. I'm trying to arrange the transfer of my Silverado to the new owner and get the loan paid-off. It involves my getting someone to follow me all the way to northern Jersey to a bank branch. Meantime, I've found the perfect (I think) replacement truck (also in Jersey) that I don't want to lose. So I'm stressing bigtime over the logistics working out so that I drive into Jersey in one truck, and back out in the other.
  19. Wow! Thanks for posting those - I could use about a month in a place like that! So tired of the masses.
  20. Well, having lived through that time in a painfully car-aware state, I'd have to disagree. That vintage of Bonneville was creeping ever closer to being a Chevy clone and the Full-size Pontiac was in decline generally. Then there is the factor of the GP being quite popular as a personal luxury car at the time. Had Pontiac done an E-body, it would have meant the end of the line for the RWD GP. The new E-body would likely have adopted the Grand Prix name as well as its styling cues. Who knows, it might even have been a good move as the GP's '78 restyle was something of a disaster. I never cared for the e-body cars, but they had an undeniable presence and sold well. That's my rationale at any rate.
  21. Call it an "intervention" and make it into a reality show.
  22. If that T/A is as good as it looks, go for it. As for the Buick issue, nothing a gear change or 700R4 won't fix. I have an advantage in that regard, having spent tons of wheel time in 3spd. automatics over the years. I really doubt that daily highway driving would hurt the car at all, but feeding it would get expensive.
  23. Hmmm. I still think Saab is doomed.
