  1. Yes, that would be perfect! What I may do is hoist it up and roll the truck out from under it - I think there is enough room to do that. But it will be close. And I'm not sure how I'll be able to operate the hoist above the bed.
  2. No winch, but there are huge beams in the ceiling I could use to chain hoist it off. The trouble is moving it off to one side - I can't do that alone.
  3. So who's coming by tomorrow to give me a hand? 1-2-3 HOIST!
  4. On that point we will never agree.
  5. Well it's good news, bad news time now. Good news: Mothertruck turns over just fine Bad news: it won't start Good news: I know why Bad news: I can't fix it tonight The truck has dual tanks, and therefore, two fuel pumps. The problem is that one side has a bad fuel pump (I have a new one for it), and the other side has a leak in the line. So I can get it running one of two ways: replace the pump or fix the line. Here's the problem: To do either one, the bed has to be removed from the truck which takes about six people to do. Bummer.
  6. Our politicians are pure, self-serving, scum!
  7. So were the original K-cars, but they saved Chrysler's ass. Sales numbers vs. expectation is the criterion we are looking at here, no?
  8. I can't agree with you, Hyper. Here's why: - At first, Volt production will not meet demand - Fuel prices could go back up at any time and we all know it. - Eventually, urban centers will ban anything but zero-emission vehicles - As E-flex is utilized on other models the costs will come down - Volt has an appeal beyond simply being "green", so it has a wider audience - Government incentives are almost guaranteed
  9. TTAC is garbage, always was.
  10. I have to agree, the Aztek was a huge failure.
  11. For a little dose of positive news, yesterday I finally got the last of the wagon's header leaks under control and today it got inspected and aligned. Fully road-ready and legal now. And I'm about to go try to start the Mothertruck for the first time since I rescued it from the body shop. I changed the oil and filter earlier today, and have the battery on charge right now. I'll twist the key before I call it a night tonight.
  12. Ion is probably the best example so far.
  13. There are lots of possibilities, but I am very tired of hitting rewind. I suspect that I will end up doing many different things throughout the winter.
  14. The problem I have with this issue is that it has managed to politicize science. To guess at the viewpoint of a given scientist, one only need look at where his funding comes from. Both sides of the debate are guilty of this. It is a travesty.
  15. Yeah, that's actually been part of the plan for a while now. The thing is, the cancellation of my fall jobs pulled the rug out from under me. I'm in survival mode for the forseeable future. So, I guess I'm questioning everything and everything is on the table.
  16. No niche car qualifies for the title here, only a failed volume car should take first place. Something that they depended on to move a lot of metal that didn't deliver.
  17. Your post touches on one of the complications for me. Quite a few people depend on me in different ways, and I just don't have it in me to say "screw you!". I'm beating my brains out to come up with answers that work.
  18. It may actually be good thing to have fuel prices somewhat low at the Volt's intro, that will give GM the time it will need to ramp-up production to a level that can meet demand when prices rise again. And we all know that the prices will rise again.
  19. I know I've asked something like it before, but I'm feeling the pull of the idea very strongly right now. No one is willing to spend any money on what I do because of the economy, and I can't weather the storm without work. I am even considering selling the Silverado, but that's a decision that would change everything. It would mean giving up what I do for a living and the end of so many other things. I need a solution.
  20. The CEOs should have responded to the idiotic comments about the planes this way" Senator, we reserve the use of our corporate jet for pressing business and this occassion qualifies.
  21. They have always been helped by their governments (and ours as well).
  22. liquidating everything you have and just disappearing?
  23. Actually, they are both. The wild populations have been devastated by a mite that infects their breathing apparatus.
  24. Where there is a real crisis is in scientific objectivity. For far too many scientists politics have become more important than the truth. Just like senators. And the media. These times are best summed up by one word: Bull$h!.
